Chapter 107: Mythical Zoan - Vampire Form
Law stared at the strange fruit, its spiral patterns writhing like living things, the dark veins glowing with an ominous red light under the lamp.
"Big Bro Roy..."
Law's voice was low, filled with caution and curiosity. "What... is this fruit?"
Roy chuckled, tapping the edge of the box. His tone was casual, but his voice dropped an octave. "Zoan-Type, Bat-Bat Fruit, Mythical Model: Vampire Form."
The air seemed to freeze.
Law's pupils shrank, and he leaned forward. "Mythical Zoan?!"
That was rarer than a Logia. Something that shouldn't even exist. And a "Vampire"—a creature of legend and darkness—should not be in the real world.
Tesoro leaned back on the sofa, his expression grave. "According to ancient texts, the user gains flight, night vision, echolocation, and sonic targeting."
"But its true power lies in its absolute dominion over the night. Once darkness falls, the user's attributes skyrocket. They can unleash an 'Absolute Darkness Field,' stripping enemies of their sense of direction, hearing, and even their heartbeat's rhythm."
Law's face grew serious, but Tesoro wasn't finished.
He lowered his voice. "And its most deadly core... is its unique life-drain ability."
"By draining a target's blood, the user can steal their life force, accelerate their aging, and even trap them in a dreamless, eternal slumber."
Law's breathing quickened. His mind raced with possibilities—this was the perfect ability for an assassin, a manipulator, a ruler.
He looked up at Roy, his gaze complex. "Something like this... shouldn't be in the hands of a normal person."
Roy just smiled faintly and closed the golden box. Click. It sounded like a coffin sealing shut on a sleeping monster.
His voice was calm, but it carried a hidden edge. "It never belonged to the weak in the first place."
Tesoro watched Roy, his golden eyes reflecting a mix of thought and... awe.
"You really are... the hardest person to read."
He sighed. "'Sleeping Ancient Town'... a forbidden zone almost erased from every map. Even the underworld avoids it. Yet you knew exactly where the fruit might appear."
He paused, waiting for a response, but Roy just smiled silently, tapping the box like he was beating the drum of fate.
After a moment, Tesoro continued. "You asked me to find two fruits. The 'Vampire Fruit' is one."
"The other one... my people are still tracking it, but the trail is cold..."
He hesitated, glancing at Roy.
Roy waved his hand, dismissing it. "It's fine."
He leaned back, looking lazy but radiating an unshakeable confidence. "If you can't find it... then we wait."
He looked up, his voice light. "Maybe... it will appear when it wants to."
The words fell like a stone into a deep pool.
Law and Tesoro both froze, falling silent. It wasn't confusion, but a primal awe of the unknown.
They realized the hidden meaning in Roy's words: he wasn't waiting for a fruit to be found. He was waiting for it to reveal itself. Did the fruit have... a will of its own?
Law frowned, his throat working. He couldn't help but ask, "Big Bro Roy..."
His tone was cautious. "Who... are you planning to give this 'Vampire Fruit' to?"
A power that could steal life... in the wrong hands, it would bring calamity, not strength.
But Roy just locked the box. Click. That was the end of the discussion.
He leaned back, smiling mysteriously. "You'll find out when we get back."
That smile, offering no explanation, sent a chill down their spines. They knew Roy never did anything on a whim.
Tesoro pushed one last file toward Roy, his tone returning to his usual confident banter. "My people have contacted the Sky Island group. I'll handle the arrangements you requested."
Roy glanced at the file, then tossed it into a spatial rift. "Good work. I trust you."
He stood up, motioning for Law to follow. "Alright. Everything's been said. Time for us to go..."
Gran Tesoro - The Golden Palace
In the brilliant hall, the lights flickered, unable to illuminate the shadows in the corners.
Tesoro stood alone in the center, his back to the golden throne, staring at the closed doors where Roy and Law had just left.
A moment ago, Roy had paused at the door.
His words, spoken casually, were branded onto Tesoro's heart.
"On the day we shatter the nightmare... I'll let you light the first fire."
Casual, yet heavy as a mountain.
"Shatter the nightmare... huh?"
Tesoro murmured, his golden eyes reflecting the silhouette of the massive crystal chandelier.
His fingers trembled slightly. His usual mask of arrogance cracked, revealing a deeply buried pain and longing.
He slowly bowed deeply toward the empty hall.
His voice was low, but resolute. "...I believe you."
Time seemed to stop. The air carried a scent from long ago.
Tesoro slowly raised his head, as if hearing something... or perhaps hearing the echo buried in his own heart.
"Stella..."
The name, sealed behind layers of gold, whispered like a breeze through the silent hall.
Grand Line - Paradise Route - Marine Warship Deck
The blue sea churned, the warship cutting through the waves like a white whale.
On deck, the sun was bright.
Roy, in civilian clothes, was sprawled on a wooden deck chair, hands behind his head, sunglasses on, chewing on a piece of grass. He looked like Garp in "Peak Slacking Mode."
"Law, heading back to HQ~"
His eyes were closed, his voice lazy, like he'd just come out of a hot spring.
Law stood nearby, having already issued the navigation orders. The bridge confirmed the course, and the ship accelerated toward Marineford.
But Law couldn't take his eyes off Roy.
The man in the sun seemed careless, like the wind. But from the Sky Island mission, to the secret meeting in the Golden City, to the sudden appearance of the Mythical Zoan "Vampire"...
Every move seemed calculated, foreseeing the future, laying out a grand design in his mind.
Law's gaze darkened, ripples forming in his heart. "Big Bro Roy... how far ahead have you planned?"
"Shatter the nightmare"—that phrase weighed heavier the more he thought about it. Did he mean the World Government? The Celestial Dragons? Or something even deeper, more forbidden?
The next second, Roy spoke as if reading his mind. "Kid, stop overthinking it~"
He rolled over, his tone still lazy. "You'll know when it's time."
"For now..."
He smiled, the grass swaying in his mouth, his voice soft but holding a hint of hidden fatigue. "While we can still slack off... let's enjoy it~"
The wind blew the canvas awning, ruffling Law's hair.
Law looked at the face "pretending" to sleep and let out a helpless sigh.
But a small smile touched his lips.
Yeah...
Since the storm is coming eventually... we might as well enjoy this brief peace while it lasts.
