Wanderer?

Wanderer?

Are you there–

'Agh! f-uck…'

"Wanderer? Are you alright?"

"You've been…silent for a long period of time…I was starting to get worried there."

'I...I don't know…Something just…–felt off '

"You could tell me if something is off, you know?"

'I feel like something has changed'

"What do you mean?"

She shook her head, 'I think it's just the forest vibes…Don't worry.'

"...If you say so."

Wanderer continued to chop a bunch of trees down—absorbing nature energy along the way.

Sweat dripped down her chin—but she didn't spare any attention in wiping it off.

'Haah…This is so tiring… perhaps I should take a quick break…'

Wanderer slumped down a tree trunk—exhausted. Her throat was parched, her stomach twisted into knots, a deep, gnawing ache that made her hands shake slightly.

The wooden minions continued their free labor.

'Food…Food…Food!'

"If you're that hungry—get your ass off the ground and find some berries or some shit!"

'Lowk, even though I don't have a sense of taste I still have the feeling of being hungry.'

'But eh don't wanna—'

A loud roar came from the east—where Astrid was currently residing.

'Fuck! The princess!'

Wanderer stood up, her hunger forgotten momentarily—immediately sprinting her way towards the princess's current location.

She came upon an infernal boar, whose hunger was noticeable from afar. It was circling Astrid; if she had lifted a single inch of her finger it'd start devouring her.

'Shoot um!'

Wanderer grabbed a nearby twig waving it—trying to get the boar's attention.

'Hey asshole over here! Oh right it won't be able to hear me.'

She threw the twig at the boar which immediately caught its attention.

'ELITE?!'

The boar charged at Wanderer—tackling her. Luckily she managed to block its mouth with her sword—but in the end she was still weak—and with her current abilities she wouldn't stand a chance against an Elite rank.

'Ack– shit!'

'Do I have anything? I don't want to use the Supreme Might of the Griffin because it has a cooldown…and I would need to use that for that objective just in case… shit, shit, shit, I'm so weak!'

The boar came charging once again but its movements were more instant.

She managed to block once again and this time she didn't fall back.

'Looking at this boar making me hungry holy'

"Dude, are you okay"

'I was wondering why you were so silent'

"I had to let you concentrate, you know?"

'If I use energy manipulation and gather some nature energy from the trees and concentrate all the energy into my sword like earlier then maybe—'

<"Yawn, yawn, yawn, do you really think that would work? Although seeing you overthink about it is entertaining, I wouldn't want to see you die from some pig." the Pansophical Joker randomly spoke up>

'Why are you voicing your opinion all of a sudden—'

<"Nature Energy, Fire, and Water all that elemental stuff won't work against an Infernal type. The most effective is poison and cursed energy, but then again you're not at that level anyways — unless you're willing to endure such a randomized consequence~ Farewell, foul thing~">

'Wait—'

'...That was so random!'

'Should I just risk it or should I just wake the princess up…'

The boar managed to land a clean hit against Wanderer's thigh.

'ACK!!--- That h–hurted like a bitch…agh.. AIR BEAM!... If I keep using Air Beam—eventually I'll be drained out of energy…I think it'd be

best to wake Astrid up, right?..Damnit that hit still hurts just suck it up Wanderer…'

Wanderer quickly limped her way towards Astrid, 'GO MY WOODEN MINIONS DEFEND YOUR YOUR….uh…MASTER'

Wanderer's wooden minion managed to buy some time for her, she shook Astrid's shoulder.

'Wake up…You told me you were strong!'

Astrid groaned, "What is it…" she stared at Wanderer through half lidded eyes.

|⍰ Boar!|

"It's just a boar Wanderer…cmon…"

|No an ⍰ BOAR|

"Yeah uh-huh a boar I get it, but it's just a—"

Wanderer forcefully turned Astrid's head —the boar was sprinting towards their direction.

"OH… an Infernal Boar, why didn't you tell—"

|⍰ WAS TRYING TO TELL YOU!|

Astrid tumbled out of the bed and unsheathed her blade.

As soon as Astrid's blade made contact with the boar—the animal had already been diced into pieces. All of its fur has already been separated from the meat.

'That just made my life easier!'

"Why do you think that?"

'Have you completely forgotten everything about me?!'

"Honestly, yes."

'THE MEAT I COULD JUST COOK IT RIGHT AWAY! WITHOUT REMOVING ALL THAT FUR!'

". . ."

|I didn't expect you to be that strong!|

"Well a princess can't always be weak you know!"

The Wanderer gathered some logs that she chopped up and started a fire, hanging the meat above the fire with a stick.

"I think you're forgetting something~"

|What do you mean?| Wanderer grabbed a piece of cooked meat from the stick—blowing it before she took a big bite from it.

'Man I wish I knew what cooked meat tastes or smells like, it just tastes like nothing!'

"Then get those senses back"

'Hmph, easy for you to say'

"Well I mean, I killed the boar for you and now we're able to eat."

|Yeah, and?|

Astrid sighed, "Idiot.." she muttered.

|Wait, what am I supposed to do?|

"I'm waiting for you to say 'thank you'"

|Thank you| Wanderer smiled frankly, between bites and chews of meat.

"You're really pathetic, Wanderer." Astrid thought.

A soft chuckle escaped from Astrid's lips, "How amusing" she muttered.

Wanderer glanced at Astrid—raising an eyebrow, |Why are you laughing?|

"Hm…It's nothing."

|Well ⍰ gotta be something!...C'mon eat, or else I'll finish all the meat.|

'Woo almost there! Luckily Astrid helped me out—just a few more trees then I'll—' Wanderer paused, as she caught a glimpse of a gaunt, towering humanoid figure with disproportionately long, spidery limbs. A foul scent of decay and corruption towards its direction.

"Hey Wanderer it's me(?) "

'Wait what?!...-'

It slowly approached Wanderer—each step giving shivers through her spine.

'...I can't move! Shit!'

"Hey Wanderer why are you just staring—" Astrid turned her head to where Wanderer was facing—flinching, and immediately unsheathing her sword—to shield Wanderer from the creature's long sharp claws.

Astrid grunted from the immense strength of the creature, having a ravenous greed for human flesh and blood.

Wanderer stumbled back, a wash of fear surged through her veins.

Seeing the insatiable creature up close; it seemed to be at least 16 ft. tall, it was horrifyingly thin, with gray skin stretched over a skeletal frame pushing out against the skin. It had a long head with big, keen antlers and large eye sockets. Overall, it had some facial features of a human but extraordinarily deformed and gut retching.

It let out a guttural growl, their red glowing eyes pierced through the Wanderer's soul.

'Holy crap that looks horrifyingly ugly!'

"Wanderer just— ack! S-stay back!" Astrid grunted, a slight scratch landed on her cheek.

'Nuh uh, I don't wanna be useless! Ain't no way I'm letting a princess fight alone! And perhaps this hideous thing is the cause of why the forest ended up this way!
