Chapter 39 - The Working Prince

As Ange arrived at the spot in Eliphas Park where he usually set up his stall, he was startled.

What was going on? Why were there so many people?!

Just then, someone suddenly shouted, "The little boss is here!"

With a loud rush, countless people gathered and surrounded Ange's food cart.

"Little boss, you're finally here. I came early this morning just to try your buns and mantou."

"Little boss, are you really a member of the Royal Family? What is your relationship with the King?"

"Little boss, are there enough buns and mantou to sell today? Don't let me miss out again."

...

Suddenly, the noise gave Ange a headache.

"Move! Please make way, the cart can't get through!" Ange leaned his head out the window and shouted.

However, his voice did not make a splash among the clamoring crowd.

Just as Ange was at a loss, a piercing siren sounded.

"What are you all doing? What is this! Do you know gathering a crowd to cause trouble is against the law?"

A serious-looking middle-aged man in a uniform was holding a large megaphone and scolding the crowd. Behind him, a team of guards was maintaining order.

"We just came to buy buns and mantou," someone muttered softly.

The middle-aged man shouted again, "Is this how you buy things? Everyone line up! Anyone who doesn't line up will be arrested."

The crowd quickly lined up.

Seeing this, Ange finally breathed a huge sigh of relief. He did not expect yesterday's celebrity effect to still linger today.

In fact, Ange had underestimated the cohesion of the Azoth Kingdom and the citizens' love for the Royal Family.

Because the country was small, only the size of a city (which included numerous villages and towns around the Royal Capital), the citizens were exceptionally united.

A Royal Family member showing their face to do business outside was an extraordinary event for the citizens!

***

Ange had just parked his food cart in his usual spot and opened the window when a small head peeked in.

"Prince Ange."

"Prince Romeo?" Ange said in surprise.

"Hehe~~" Romeo scratched the back of his head. "Sister said you would definitely be busy today, so she sent me to help you."

"So those guards are the ones you brought," Ange asked.

Romeo replied, "Those are all my sister's guards."

Ange nodded, then motioned to Romeo, "Hurry and come inside! Hurry and come inside!" He said, opening the cart door.

"Mhm~~"

Romeo brought his Slurpuff and quickly ran inside the cart.

Seeing Ange was already preparing buns, Romeo asked, "Prince Ange, how can I help?"

"You really want to help?" Ange asked.

"Really, Sister told me to come and help," Romeo nodded vigorously.

Puff Puff~~

Slurpuff next to him also nodded.

Looking at Romeo, who was short like a radish, Ange thought, What a crime, isn't this using child labor?

However, his guardian had agreed.

Ange thought for a moment. "How about this, Slurpuff will help me put the finished mantou and wrapped buns into the steaming baskets to steam."

As he spoke, he explained to Slurpuff how many mantou and buns should go into one steaming basket, and the approximate distance that should be maintained between the mantou and the buns.

These details would affect the texture of the buns and mantou.

"As for Romeo, you will help hand out the buns and mantou to the customers."

Then, he showed Romeo which steaming basket contained the mantou, which held the cabbage-filled buns, which held the turnip-filled buns, and which held the chive-filled buns. He had to remember all of these clearly. What if he handed the wrong item to a customer?

After the explanation, Ange asked Romeo and Slurpuff, "How about it? Did you remember everything?"

"Don't worry, Prince Ange!"

Puff Puff~

Romeo and Slurpuff looked confident.

Soon, the first basket of buns and mantou was steamed. The rich aroma spread out, tempting the people in line and enchanting them.

"This... this is too fragrant!"

A considerable number of today's customers came out of curiosity, drawn by Ange's identity as a Royal Family member. They merely wanted to interact with the Royal Family up close.

Although some people said the buns and mantou Ange made were delicious, most of the curious people were skeptical. What kind of delicious food could a pampered Royal Family member make?

But now, smelling the aroma filling the air, their cravings were piqued, and they could not stop drooling. They finally had to admit that this little boss's cooking skills were extraordinary.

The moment the steaming basket was uncovered, the line began to stir.

"Can the people at the front hurry up? Don't waste everyone's time."

"Exactly, and people should buy fewer so the people behind have a chance!"

...

The customers chattered amongst themselves.

***

This was Romeo's first time seeing such a scene. He was momentarily stunned and could not help but exclaim, "Prince Ange, your business is so good!"

Ange shook his head. "Some people are not just here for my cooking skills."

Romeo naturally understood this, but he felt that having resources one could utilize was also a type of skill.

Seeing Romeo's flustered look, Ange smiled and asked, "How is it? Are you adjusting?"

Romeo said seriously, "Don't worry, Prince Ange, I can do a good job!"

In fact, Romeo, who liked to invent and create, had excellent memory and hands-on ability. He not only remembered all of Ange's instructions but also made very few mistakes in the subsequent work.

He was just too shy. When handing buns and mantou to customers, he did not dare to make eye contact or talk to them.

Seeing Romeo like this, Ange finally understood why Lila wanted him to come and help.

The customers naturally recognized Prince Romeo's identity. After all, their country only had three Royal Family members before.

They found Romeo's shy reaction very amusing. They often teased and joked with Romeo, which frequently made him blush.

The opportunity to tease the Prince was rare.

Because of Romeo, bursts of laughter often erupted in the line.

Romeo had a very good temper. No matter how people teased him, he never seemed to get angry.

Ange occasionally reminded Romeo, "Romeo, if people tease you, talk back. If that doesn't work, curse at them!"

Romeo stammered, clearly unable to do it.

Ange shook his head helplessly. "You kid... you need practice!"

"Little boss, I didn't expect you to be a member of the Royal Family!" an elderly man holding a Growlithe asked with a smile.

"Elder, it's you!" Ange smiled. "How many would you like today?"

The elderly man smiled and said, "The usual."

"Alright!" Ange answered, then said to Romeo, "Romeo, give the elder 50 mantou, and 50 of each of the three kinds of buns."

"Okay!"

Romeo quickly uncovered the steaming baskets and took out the buns and mantou for the elderly man.

The elderly man took the buns and mantou. He immediately took out two, putting one into his own mouth and one into Growlithe's mouth.

"Mmm, delicious!"

He walked away satisfied, muttering to himself.

"Boss, I'll take 2 of each kind of bun."

Ange looked up and saw that the customer was the Crêpe Man from the neighboring stall.

Seeing Ange looking at him, the man scratched his head sheepishly. "Little boss, I'm sorry about the other day. I caused you to be surrounded and blamed by so many people."

Ange was indeed angry at the time, but he calmed down after thinking about it. After all, everyone had no malicious intent. They just wanted to do their part for the Royal Family.

If Lila was truly looking for a wanted criminal, then everyone would have made a great contribution.

Thinking this, Ange smiled and said to the man, "It's nothing, it was just a misunderstanding. It's fine once it's cleared up."

Seeing that Ange did not hold a grudge, the man breathed a sigh of relief. He then happily took his buns to share with the Slurpuff guarding his stall.

***

Business was so good that Ange and the others were constantly busy. Even Komala, who was in charge of collecting money, was a little flustered.

In the middle of the morning, while a new batch of buns and mantou was steaming, Ange took a portion that he had specifically reserved and gave it to the guards.

The guards worked hard to maintain order. It was not right for them to do it for nothing.

At the same time, Romeo finally got to eat the buns and mantou he had been thinking about.

Perhaps the food tasted even better after hard work, but Romeo was instantly amazed.

"This is so delicious! It's even better than I imagined! Prince Ange, you are truly amazing!"

Slurpuff's expression was identical to Romeo's. It immediately contributed 400 Happiness Points to Ange.

"Eat more if you like it," Ange said, smiling at the Pokémon and his master. At the same time, he held Komala in his arms and fed it.

Komala had not eaten breakfast yet.

After everyone finished eating, business continued.

***

The morning passed in a flash. When the last bun was sold, Ange shouted out the window, "We're sold out today! Come early tomorrow!"

The customers who did not manage to buy anything left in disappointment.

As soon as the customers left, Ange closed the cart door and began counting today's earnings.

Today, he sold a total of 2,560 buns and 4,530 mantou, earning 51,200 and 45,300 Pokédollars respectively.

The total was 96,500 Pokédollars.

He earned several tens of thousands less than yesterday.

In fact, after a day of public discussion, there were more customers today than yesterday. This was a world with highly developed networks. News could quickly spread everywhere.

It was just that Ange did not prepare many ingredients.

Actually, he could have continued selling just mantou, but he was too tired yesterday. He did not want to work that hard again today.

It was simply not worth it.

He finally got a chance to live this life again; he was here to enjoy it.

He was very content with earning 90,000 Pokédollar in a day. Many people only earned that much in a year.

Contentment is happiness!

While Ange was counting the earnings, Romeo asked, "Prince Ange, do you plan to keep setting up a stall like this?"

Ange answered without looking up, "Huh? I haven't decided yet! I'll do it for a while."

Romeo added, "Actually, the Ministers have a big problem with you setting up a stall."

"I don't care about them!" Ange said indifferently. He would do whatever he wanted, and no one would tell him otherwise. "If they have the guts, they can come and tell me to my face."

Romeo: ...

Just then, a guard's voice came from outside the door, "Prince Ange, Prince Romeo, Princess Lila has arrived."

Ange stood up and opened the cart door. Sure enough, he saw Lila and Fiona standing at the entrance.

"Good afternoon, Prince Ange," Lila said with a smile.

Romeo also ran over and shouted excitedly, "Sister!"

"Romeo!" Lila called out. She then looked at Ange. "Your Highness, did Romeo cause you any trouble?"

Ange smiled and praised Romeo, "Of course not! He and Slurpuff were a great help to me today!"

Romeo scratched his head in embarrassment upon hearing this. Slurpuff also raised its head proudly.

Lila could not help but praise her younger brother. "That's wonderful, Romeo, I'm proud of you."

Romeo became even more embarrassed.

Then, Lila said to Ange, "Your Highness, let's go back to the Royal Palace."

Ange nodded. He then drove the food cart, taking Lila, Romeo, and Fiona toward the Royal Palace.

On the way, Lila handed Ange a mobile phone and said to him, "Your Highness, your League Citizen ID has been processed. The business license and relevant documents for selling buns and mantou have also been completed. You can log onto the League Citizen Website to check your identity information."

As she spoke, she taught Ange how to log onto the League Citizen Website.

Ange logged in and saw that he could clearly check all his information. Even his identity as an Azoth Royal Family member was recorded in detail.

"Also, I also opened a bank account for you. Now you can freely use online payments!"

Lila continued to teach Ange how to use the online bank account.

The mobile phone was very important in the Pokémon world. They could conduct most of their social activities using their phones.

Ange was an undocumented person before. Even if he bought a phone from the System Store, he could not use it, so he never bought one.

Now he finally had an identity.

"Thank you for your hard work, Lila," Ange sincerely thanked Lila.

Lila waved her hand and said, "What are you saying? It's all my duty."

***

Soon, the food cart arrived at the Royal Palace. Minister Jarvis was standing at the Palace entrance waiting for them.

Seeing Romeo step out of the cart, he shouted with a serious expression, "Prince Romeo, I have been waiting for you for a long time!"

"Sister," Romeo looked at his sister.

Lila gently patted Romeo's back and said, "Go on, study hard."

Although she did not like Jarvis, she had to admit that Jarvis was indeed the most authoritative scientist in the country.

After Romeo ran up to Jarvis, Jarvis still wanted to say something to Ange, but the impatient Romeo pulled him away.

"Sister, Prince Ange, Fiona, we'll see you later," Romeo said, waving back at Ange and Lila as he ran.

"See you later, Romeo!"

After seeing Romeo off, Lila first took Ange to the Royal Hospital for a check-up. He had been frail and sickly before and had slept for 500 years. Although he had regained his health due to Diancie, the specifics of his physical condition were unknown.

The Royal Hospital was a special hospital dedicated to serving the Royal Family. It was located within the Palace. The doctors inside were elites and masters in the medical field, and the medical equipment was the most cutting-edge.

The Royal Hospital was divided into two parts: one for treating and maintaining the health of Royal Family members, and one for treating the Pokémon of Royal Family members.

The Royal Hospital was highly efficient. Ange's physical examination results quickly came out. The check-up showed that his body was very healthy, even stronger than a typical fitness trainer.

Seeing this result, Ange was very happy. It seems the Constitution Points he added these past few days were not wasted.
