Chapter 14 - XIV: What are you?

A large, white crystalline light ruptured through the surrounding space, its brilliance cutting through the darkness like a beacon of celestial radiance. Slowly, the rupture widened, revealing the vast expanse of light and space beyond. Avel's eyes widened in awe as he beheld the myriad of great beings beyond the tear, their presence illuminating the cosmos with an ethereal glow. The beings stood arrayed before him, their forms adorned in resplendent armour and wielding swords of celestial light. Each one exuded an aura of power and majesty, their essence burning with the purity of the heavens.

"It would seem that when Raphael tried to heal us, he joined our minds," a booming voice echoed from behind Avel. He turned to see Uriel approaching, his eyes aglow with celestial fire. "It connected all of us. We can summon all the others, with your help." Avel's gaze shifted back to the gathering of beings, his mind reeling with the implications of their presence. "What are they?" he asked, his voice tinged with wonder as he observed the ethereal burning of the great beings.

"Behold. We are the timeless. The eternal beings. The Amari," Uriel declared, extending his arm to present the gathered host. Avel stood in silent reverence; his heart filled with awe at the sight before him.

"Children of the firmament," Uriel continued, his voice resonating with authority. "For the aspect of greatness that birthed us now resides within you. Restore us to it so we may be one with the greatness, so we may be whole once more."

Avel absorbed Uriel's words, his mind racing with the weight of their significance. As he gazed into the expanse of celestial beings, he felt a surge of determination welling within him. With a nod of understanding, he stretched out his arms, preparing to harness the inner strength that lay dormant within him.

"Chant after me," Uriel instructed, his voice steady and commanding. Avel nodded in agreement, his focus sharpening as he prepared to undertake the monumental task before him. "Haslak," Uriel intoned, his voice resonating with ancient power. "Haslak," Avel repeated, his voice echoing through the celestial expanse.

"Takas," Uriel continued, his words carrying the weight of ages. "Takas," Avel affirmed, his voice steady and unwavering. "Kaspano... Jakaska, Nahos, Hahal," Uriel concluded, his voice booming with authority.

"Kaspano... Jakaska, Nahos, Hahal," Avel echoed, each syllable reverberating through the fabric of reality.

As the final words left his lips, the crown prince felt a surge of energy coursing through his being, his essence intertwining with that of the celestial hosts before him. He heaved with exertion as he absorbed the essence of the Amari, his senses overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the power flowing into him.

"Black as night. Cold as ice. Slay my foes. And end my plight," Uriel intoned, his voice carrying the weight of a thousand destinies.

Avel felt the power of the Amari army merging with his own, their essence becoming one with his being. With each passing moment, he felt himself ascending to new heights of existence, his very essence suffused with the brilliance of the heavens.

The sensation was unlike anything he had ever experienced. It was as if every fibre of his being was being stretched and pulled, reshaped, and remoulded by the sheer force of celestial power. Waves of energy surged through him, coursing through his veins like rivers of light, their intensity threatening to overwhelm his mortal form.

With a guttural cry of anguish, Avel felt his eyes burn with searing intensity, their once-violet hue consumed by the blinding brilliance of the celestial energy. His vision was obscured by a blinding light, leaving his eyes as white as the clouds that drifted across the celestial expanse.

He collapsed to the ground, his body wracked with convulsions as the power refused to relent, surging into him with unrelenting force. Agony tore through his very being as his muscles strained against the overwhelming sensation of such a power.

This was another rare moment in his life, where Avel felt a sense of terror grip his heart. The sheer magnitude of the power coursing through him was beyond anything he could have imagined, a suffocating euphoria that threatened to consume him whole. Pulling, no, pushing him to the brink of breaking leaving him a corpse with a shuttered mind.

In the depths of his agony, Avel bellowed at the heavens, his voice a primal roar of defiance and desperation. He could feel himself teetering on the edge of oblivion, the line between mortal and divine blurring with each passing moment.

Yet, even as the pain threatened to consume him, Avel felt a strange sense of clarity wash over him. He could sense the presence of the Amari within him, their essence merging with his own in a symphony of celestial power.

Slowly, agonizingly, Avel began to rise to his feet, his body trembling with the exertion of containing such immense power. With each breath, he could feel himself growing stronger, his mortal form suffused with the boundless energy of the heavens. Each breath heavy and fused with effort.

As he stood amidst the celestial expanse, Avel knew that he had been forever changed by the experience. He was no longer merely mortal but something greater, something transcendent, something other.

With his body enveloped in an iridescent hue and crackling with white lightning, Avel lifted his arms to observe the phenomenon that surrounded him. The air seemed to thrum with power, vibrating with an energy that pulsed through every fibre of his being.

"I see," he intoned, his voice booming like thunder, deep and resonant, with layers of power that echoed through the celestial expanse. "Everything."
