Chapter 2 - Chapter 02

As he had already wiped all the k'lor'slugs on the way to the egg chambers, it didn't take long for Saryn to get back to Sergeant Cormun's outpost.

On the way there, he heard a massive explosion coming from the egg chambers, causing the walls of the tomb to shake violently.

A few minutes later, he finally arrived in view of the fortified position.

"I heard the explosion; that was outstanding work, my Lord." As he approached the outpost, Sergeant Cormun and three of his men quickly came out to greet him.

"Didn't I tell you I would be back soon, Sergeant? A few bugs can hardly be of any threat to me." Saryn replied with bordering arrogance.

"Affirmative, my Lord. I will report your feat to my hierarchy and see to it that you are rewarded." The sergeant now had great admiration in his eyes.

"Good! I will see you again another time, Sergeant! I will count on you when I need support from the Imperial Military in the coming days." With a nod toward the sergeant, Saryn departed.

"Absolutely, my lord, my men and I will never forget the favor you did us." Cormun solemnly declared toward the departing Saryn.

Saryn walked for another half an hour through the dust-filled tomb of Ajunta Pall, until he encountered an unexpected sight. In the middle of the great hall, a few skeletons were lying in a pools of what appeared to be the same liquid coming from the egg sacs in the egg chambers.

"Well, isn't that interesting… Did a k'lor'slug do that?" Saryn began observing the scene to understand what had happened to the skeleton.

"Hmm… What is that?" An item hidden under one of the skeletons suddenly caught Saryn's attention.

"A datapad? Let's see." Saryn began to check the datapad.

'Imperial Edict 936: Mercenaries have taken advantage of k'lor'slug infestation in the Tomb of Adjunta Pall, stealing valuable artifacts from its depths- a situation wildly unacceptable.

You are authorized to use deadly force to send these mercenaries a message that further desecration will not be tolerated. The task is dangerous, and hazard pay has been authorized.

See me at the medical center near the Sith Academy upon completing your mission for your compensation.

Sergeant Rikel.'

"To think mere mercenaries would dare to intrude the tomb of a dark lord… Have these people lost their minds? Or maybe they have been completely blinded by greed… "

"In any case, it is a good way to make another one of the sergeants stationed on Korriban owe me a favor. " Saryn smiled.

"That and the fact that I will be able to hunt some more preys. Hopefully, some of them will be stronger than the insect earlier." Saryn's eyes became colder and more focused as he finished reading the Imperial Edict.

Saryn didn't need to search for long to find the mercenaries and tomb looters. A few minutes after he left the area where he found the datapad, he saw a small camp filled with them.

The camp's infrastructures, if they could even be called that, were very primitive, nearly falling apart. It was apparent that this wasn't the main camp of those tomb looters.

'Around twenty of them.. Easy enough.' After observing them from afar, Saryn sprang into action. He used the force to boost his physical prowess and rush inside the camp.

"Shit! It's one of those freaks from the Academy! Fight back!" Taken by surprise, the mercenaries only started to react after Saryn had already killed three of their own.

Only when one of the mercenaries began to bark orders did the rest manage to start firing their blasters at Saryn.

"I really don't understand where your self-confidence comes from. How could people as weak and powerless as you even dare to descend on a place like Korribann? What's more, it is to loot the tomb of the first dark lord…" Saryn couldn't help but ask as he mowed through the crowd of mercenaries effortlessly.

His training saber bisected the terrified mercenaries, and with each strike, he killed one of them.

"Shut up, you freak!" The leader didn't stop barking orders, trying to keep the morale of the few remaining looters up.

But not everyone had this man's level of courage.

"Aaaaah! I don't wanna die!" One of the tomb looters shrieked in terror and threw down his blaster, fleeing as fast as he could and abandoning his colleagues.

This, in turn, made a few others panic and follow him.

"Ahahahaha! Would you look at that?"

"Finally, the insects learned their places." Saryn couldn't help but burst out laughing, seeing how those spineless cowards reacted to his presence.

"Come back here! Fuck, Fuck, Fuck!" The leader of the mercenaries couldn't help but curse at the coward who left the rest of them to die.

"You don't need to worry, I'll end them soon enough, they'll reunite with you then." Saryn continued his onslaught

After two force lightnings hit the two remaining mercenaries and shocked them to death, Saryn came face to face with the now already begging leader.

"Please don't kill me! I'll do anything, I'll even become your dog if you want me to." The previously confident and fearless leader was now cowering in fear on the ground.

This ended up completely extinguishing any interest Saryn had in the man's previous fearlessness.

"Had you not begged like a coward in front of death, I could have maybe considered it. But look at you now? What need would I have for such a cowardly dog?" Saryn looked at the man with a disappointed expression.

"Please, I'm sorry! I'll lead you to the others! I'll lead you to the place where we hid the artifa-!" His sentence was interrupted by Saryn, disappointingly piercing his throat with his training saber.

"What a waste. You could have made a decent dog if you had kept your fearlessness till the end." With a shake of his head, Saryn didn't waste a single more minute in this place. Three people managed to flee from the fight, and he had to find them to end their miserable lives.

It didn't take long for him to find them, but they were already dead, lying on the ancient floor of the tomb, in a pool of their own blood.

The killer, or rather killers, were two Acolytes clothed a bit differently from those that had arrived with him on Korriban.

They were standing guard before another flight of stairs.

The two of them locked eyes with Saryn.

Then the one standing on the right of the doorway spoke.

"Acolyte, our master wants to meet you."

"And who is that master of yours?" Saryn wasn't going to go into this room blind.

"Master Spindral instructed us to guide the next acolyte to pass through to meet him. He has seen you in his vision."

'Spindral…! Right, my father did mention that name once. The senile fool who stayed in the Tomb of Ajunta Pall all year long was what he called him.'

'Well, Father is weak, so the man is probably much more powerful than he could ever understand.'

"Lead the way then, I'll meet your master." Having made his decision, Saryn followed the Acolyte who had talked to him as he was led into the depths of the Tomb of Ajunta Pall.

When they finally reached the end of the stairs, a large room was revealed before Saryn. As he scanned it, he noticed around ten acolytes training in the room.

'Why are those Acolytes all so weak?' Saryn could see that all the Acolytes staying here were weak. Some were even weaker than the woman who had tried to stop him while he was leaving the landing pads.

After scanning the first part of the room, Saryn's eyes focused on the man meditating atop the altar on the opposite side of the room from the entrance.

He was an elderly man wearing tattered robes and a raised cowl. From his position, Saryn couldn't make out any of his facial features.

"The master will see you now." The Acolyte who had led Saryn to this room moved to the side and extended his hand as if to invite Saryn to go and meet the old man meditating.

Saryn didn't reply, but still moved to the altar.

"Young Acolyte, do you know the Sith Code?" As he climbed the stairs to the old man, the meditating man stood up and asked in a decaying voice.

Hearing this, Saryn couldn't help but frown. What kind of Sith would he be if he didn't even know the Sith Code?

"Peace is a lie, there is only Passion." Saryn began as he kept on climbing the stairs.

"Through Passion, I gain Strength,"

"Through Strength, I gain Power,"

"Through Power, I gain Victory,"

"Through Victory, my Chains are broken,"

"I am Free." The moment he let out the last of the doctrines, Saryn arrived in front of the altar atop the stairs and stood behind Spindral.

"You studied well, young acolyte." The old man turned around with a nod, and a smile appeared on his worn visage.

Saryn finally looked at the man in the eyes. The man in front of him appeared very old, with a grey beard, yellow eyes, and an extensively wrinkled face.

"What kind of Sith would not know something like that? It has been the doctrine of our people for the past thousands of years." Saryn believed these words to the fullest. If someone didn't know the Sith Code, they didn't deserve the privilege of even setting foot on this magnificent world.

"You would be surprised, young acolyte. Of how many people I see every year who refuse to learn the code that is meant to be the foundation of their power." Spindral said with a look of tiredness.

"You are strong in the force, young acolyte. So strong that I had a vision of your future the moment you set foot on Korriban."

"Go to the Academy, but before leaving, take the trial of blood and show those disgraced acolytes what a true Sith is like. Please grant me this favor." Spindral requested before going back to his meditation.

"Hmph! Then they'd better be prepared. A Sith does not let anyone who opposes them live." Saryn turned around and looked at six of the acolytes who had silently come to position themselves in a circle around the stairs.

"You are right again, young acolyte. Show this old man the glory you will bring to the Empire." Spindral nodded with his eyes still closed.

Saryn didn't wait any longer.

He let his wrath course through his body, powering his body with the dark side, and directly jumped toward the nearest of the acolytes.

The disgraced acolyte couldn't even react to Saryn's speed and was killed with a single slash of his training saber.

When the body of the dead acolyte hit the ground with a thud, the other acolytes began to act.

One of them tried to slash Saryn in the back with his training saber, only for Saryn to kick his hand so hard that he let go of the saber. Before he could even get his bearings back together, he was killed by having his neck slashed open.

Saryn didn't waste a second and shocked two other acolytes to death with Force Lightnings.

Of the six acolytes, Saryn had killed four in less than thirty seconds. This was the difference in power and potential between force users. The six disgraced acolytes failed their trials because they were weak, so they now died at Saryn's hands.

That was one of the central tenets of the Sith Code. 'Through Power, I gain Victory.'

The remaining two acolytes didn't resist long and ended up dying to Saryn's training saber in the next twenty seconds.

"It is done, Master Spindral. I'll see you again some other time." Having not even broken a sweat, Saryn departed from the chamber under the terrified eyes of the remaining acolyte.

"Good job, young acolyte. You will always be welcome in The Sacrificial Chamber. Show the galaxy the might of the Siths." Spindral's words were the only thing that escorted Saryn out of the chamber.
