The food arrived quickly: sandwiches, soup, fruit, and protein. Timothy had ordered enough for five people, ensuring Emily had options.
"Eat," he commanded, setting a plate in front of her.
Emily picked at a sandwich, her appetite slowly returning as the adrenaline faded. The food was good.
"Timothy," she said between bites, "My Teacher said I might have solved a case of some conjecture.
"The Yamamoto Conjecture has been unsolved for fifteen years," Sebastian said, looking up from his laptop where he was researching. "It's one of the major open problems in quantum field theory. If you solved even a specific case of it, that's not just significant, that's career-making."
"I had four minutes," Emily said. "I probably made mistakes."
"Or you're a genius who sees patterns other people miss," Timothy countered. "Which, given your ISI background and your track record, seems more likely."
