*You really went all in for trouble I see* Was the words I heard as the yawning mouth in front of me suddenly was slammed away so fast I couldn't react just gone as I blinked watching something bounce across the ground before slamming into a street lamp & stopping. *Well you did well all things considered especially since it appears you even managed to not let your usual belief of getting revenge keep you from just leaving those men to die.* "You show up after I almost die to pat me on the back for not letting people who have made it their goal to get money out of me every month for the past 3 years all die to some weird creatures... Really?" Paying attention as the remaining creature screeches & before doing anything else falls into 2 pieces spilling it's stomach contents everywhere & the smell making me finally puke which considering every horrid smell, grotesque sight & sound it's amazing that the straw breaking the camels back was the sloshing sound of the creature falling apart & the smell of it's contents being exposed to the air.
*You need to grow up it's not that bad* Looking up at him my only response is to flip him the bird as I dry heave a few times & nearly fall over from the pain I'm in from the broken ribs shifting with every heave. "Anubis next time you ask me to do something I'm going to start charging you." comes a deep voice from in front of me belonging to a very large man, over 7ft tall with a full head of strawberry blonde hair pulled into a tight pony tail sporting a gruesome scar covering from his brow to chin like a bear caught the side of his face that was set with a pair brown eyes & broad nose that's been broken repeatedly. Wearing a pair of jeans, t-shirt, flannel & was currently cleaning off what for him would be a hand axe that was one solid piece of metal with a leather grip on it. He looked like some kind of woodsman you'd see in the country definitely not here. "Well that's 2 void spawn of the weakest variety dealt with granted how they even got here is beyond me Anubis, I'll have to report this & get the family's consensus on what should be done since this is our territory."
"Thank you Alex but I do hope I can trouble you once more & get DJ here some medical treatment instead of taking him to a hospital. It would be quite the headache if someone attacked him for the smell clinging to him." Before I can make sense of what they're saying or ask my own questions something slams into me throwing me to the ground face first cracking my head off the pavement sending my world to blackness as the sounds of yelling voices breaks out.
4 hours later
"Uggghhhhh" Slowly blinking I try sitting up feeling my world spin violently prompting me to just close my eyes & stay still till it passes. "What the fuck happened better yet what the fuck hit me. I haven't hurt this much since I fought that biker for 600$ my first semester of college." Opening my eyes to take in my surroundings & not trying to sit up this time went over a lot better. In a sparse room with 2 chairs, the bed I was in, a IV pole & a open door was all I could see. Slowly I lift my head seeing if I can sit up now which is more successful still leaves my world spinning for a few more moments. "Wow your up pretty quick just like he said seems like I'm out a 100 gold now." comes a cheerful slightly to loud voice belonging to a energetic old bald guy maybe 5'4 & looking overly similar to Eustace from Courage right down the saucer glasses. If my head wasn't pounding I'd lean over to see if he was wearing similar shoes but instead I focused on him "How are you feeling?? Scale of 1-10 how is it, where does it hurt if it does, also you just can call me Doc everyone calls me Doc." just absolutely rapid fire questions I struggle my way through "I uhh oh man Doc you just made my head worst but I feel like a truck hit my whole body. Where am I?? What happened??"
As I ask those questions loud voices interrupt me getting any answers as all I hear is "But Alex it wasn't my fault." "You hit him so hard his head made a crack sound off the pavement & didn't even check to see what was going on before slamming into him" "How was I supposed to know he wasn't a threat & why do I have to work at the Pub again." "For starters because thanks to you I now have to confront Debbie & explain to her what happened & hope she doesn't give me another scar over my sister hurting one of her cubs. Secondly I was talking to him with Anubis astral projecting RIGHT NEXT TO HIM." "He's not even her kid so why would she do that & I'll have you know me & Pauline were giving each other scars instead of friendship bracelets. It's everyone else's fault for not asking what was going on. & he's not supposed to be working for the next 2 weeks anyway so you're covered."
The 2 arguing voices came into the room with Alex leading the way arguing with a taller woman in bright neon goth punk attire who reminded me of Nathan for some reason & seemly unaware of the pain she was still causing my head. "Please do quite down you're causing the patient more trauma then you already have Elise & I must say Alex has a valid point, you don't just tackle people randomly especially those who are categorized as human with your Were strength." watching him & Alex tells me it's a constant with her but something clicks after hearing pub & Debbie cemented by the random thought that she reminds me of Nathan for some reason. "Wait are you supposed to be the Alex I'm working under at the pub as security?? & What do you mean Debbie gave you that scar??" Ughhh "I think I'm going to be sick." Before I can get sick Doc puts his hand on my arm with both the sick feeling & the pressure in my head fading almost completely noticing a pale yellowish glow going from him to me. "Alright take it easy I'll come back with something for you to eat you're going to need the calories after me speeding up your recovery like that." & Right on que my stomach rumbles so loud I thought it was a dog grumbling at first till the hunger hit me.
"Damn even I've never sounded that hungry & I've had my arm re-attached before by Doc." As if not even hearing Doc tell her to quite down Elise has her mouth covered by Alex as he sighs in exasperation. "Doc get him some food & take Elise with you cause I know Debbie is on her way since we brought him here with Dad probably trying to slow her down. & Yes I'm going to be your new boss & looks like I'll be training you on how to take care yourself in situations like that as well though you did pretty well for you first time with good targeting of their weak joints & eyes. As for the Debbie thing her daughter Pauline you've met is best friends with Elise there... They have a bad habit of doing stuff without telling anyone with the last time being them cutting one another on their faces as {BEST FRIEND GIFTS} with me & Debbie finding them as Elise cut Pauline smiling like a damn maniac & blood running down her face. Debbie snapped & went full mama bear trying to swipe Elise but I got in the way & took a mother's fury leaving me with this lovely beauty mark." Pointing at the deep gouges down the side of his face.
"So Debbie is a were-bear?? So what are you guys?? Cause Thom no offense looks like he's better off with a donut then anything else." Alex laughs at that "Yeah we're also bears & Thom just isn't suited for life that isn't behind a desk working with numbers which nothing wrong with that just means dad can hand the pub off to capable hands granted he needs to get a better eye for people." With the chatterbox gone & Alex talking in anormal volume the rest of my headache passes with more voices coming from outside the door this time all I hear is Nathan & Thom trying to get someone to calm down with it probably being Debbie. Right on que in barges a woman I have never seen with a expression touching on annoyed let alone anger & she looks livid marching right up to Alex who puts his hands up & tries backing away not even attempting to say a word in his defense just letting her yell at him as his father & brother stand in the door unable to help.
"What the hell do you think you were doing bring your disaster of a sister along when told a human was involved?? She hurts other Weres on accident & we're far more durable as well. Why in the 9 fucking hells did 2 low tier Void Spawn get that far into the city?? There's 8 dead & 3 of them are human with 2 human survivors that we now have to mind wipe." Debbie's anger could cook a whole cow to well done at this point then she turns towards me & grabs me in a hug which I swear I hear my bones creaking from the pressure of while asking if I'm ok. "You just got on Alex about how fragile he is & now your squeezing the life out of him Debbie let the poor boy breath & eat something." Came what I am dubbing the voice of reason aka Doc pushing his way thru the assembled individuals with a tray of assorted packaged snacks & sandwiches placing it down on my lap when he got close enough.
