Chapter 16: Strike of The Sentinels, Pt 2! All The Eyes Watching…
[General POV]:
Luke flew towards the approaching Sentinels at supersonic speed, eyes locked on the biggest one.
He personally wasn't a fan of Sentinels and Luke, through Lewis' memories, remembered how the Master hated the Days of Future's Past timeline—both comic and movie versions. They made no sense to him; how those with planetary or beyond level power let themselves get beaten by a bunch of clankers.
Still, if it meant he can ensure such a timeline never occurred, at least on this Earth, Luke would sleep better. Scratch that, he'd sleep better regardless. This was just a side quest.
Unfortunately….
"Multiple Omega Threats Detected!" the clankers said in harmony.
In response, the Sentinels entered defensive positioning. The Mark II's taking the lead while the Mark III's stood back, charging up attacks of their own.
"Looking to buy yourselves enough time to unleash their full might? Who the fuck do you think I am, Goku?" Luke laughed, flying straight through the metallic clunk of a head of a Mark II's, using telekinesis to chuck the chunk of metal through the heads of two of its brethren. Luke then generated spheres of white hot energy — dozens of them — and let them fly at the fallen clankers.
PSSSTS!
PSSSTS!
CRACKLE!
THOOM!
A lightning strike supercharged the spheres, strengthening their area of effect and damage output. As Luke looked behind him, he noticed Ororo mid-flight, her hands outstretched, eyes cloud white and foggy, as she willed down more lightning to fall upon the enemy.
"Looks like you can keep up," Luke chuckled.
"I have been known to hold my own against my foes," Storm smirked.
"I suppose that's to be expected from a goddess, huh?" Luke said, playfully, as he used telekinesis to rip a Sentinel in half — Literally. That thing was sliced right down the middle.
"You aren't so bad yourself, Stranger," Storm shot back, gathering hydrogen in one cluster of Sentinels and using a spark of lightning shot from her palms to ignite a whole 3 block radius alite, obliterating many SIntinels in the process.
'Damn, I forget how powerful she is…' Luke thought, privately. 'The movies and, even the animations, never did her justice. To see it up close and personal… It's kinda hot…Pun unintended.'
Forcing 3 Mark II Sentinels to fold inward into one another, Luke willed them to form steel balls, all 3 at once —- A testament to Luke's telekinetic prowess.
Then, turning around, Luke took note of the fight going on in his surroundings.
He saw Storm calling down thunder strikes and combusting the enemy. He saw Magneto literally tearing the Sentinels apart with his magnetism mutation. He saw Jean using similar methods of telekinesis as Luke, ripping apart the clankers, but only at the joints and using her forcefields to deflect their energy blasts. Cyclops, Rogue, Iceman, Quicksilver and Toad led the X-Men and Brotherhood hand-in-hand against the legion of Sentinels.
'They seem capale enough to handle things on their own,' Luke thought, before changing his attention to the 3 Mark III's. Two of them —- the smaller 2(the 25 and 27 foot tall bots) were already charging up their attacks. "Which means I can finally focus solely on you guys."
A wicked smirk spread across Luke's face as he took off the second Ring of Restriction, feeling his power become 3x his base power.
Instantly, he teleported into the 25 foot tall Sentinel. And with a short, unleashed telekinetic wave that not only tore outward the Sentinel, but also knocked back 3 Sentinels in the process.
BZZZT!
WHRRR!
PEEEWW!
The 27 foot tall Sentinel released its built up disintegration beam directly at Luke.
In response, Luke willed the trajectory of the blast to swirl around him once before redirecting the blast right back with his energy manipulation.
The bot did not tank the blast successfully.
In a burst of movement that was surprisingly swift for the clanker's size, the final Sentinel rushed at Luke.
As Luke braced himself to catch the robot's punch, intending to return it at full strength, something interfered. A golden beam shot down from the depths of space, obliterating the Sentinel instantly, causing a gigantic dust storm to engulf the area.
When it cleared, one could spot Luke looking up at the sky almost reverently.
"Master…" he murmured in respect with clenched fists.
[Triskelion, S.H.I.E.L.D HQ in Washington, DC]:
[General POV]:
"Give me eyes. I want to know the source of that beam," ordered Director Fury, as the many agents typed away at telescopes and space cameras for answers. "I want it within view of my good eye in the next 10 seconds."
"Found it," Agent Hill tapped away on her screen, bringing up the footage to the big screen for all to see. "I—sir… that's a man…"
"Or man-shaped alien," Sharon Carter cautioned. "It won't be the first time we encountered one. And this one's wearing a cape."
"Maybe, but no alien would defend a human on Earth from 149.6 million kilometers away, Carter," Fury said, going over both the footage from space and Lewis Blake's own battle alongside the X-MEN. "This event, however startling, has enlightened us to many things. One, Lewis Blake is both a mutant and a mutate. Two, he has connections with an unknown entity. And three, he much more powerful than we initially guessed."
As Fury eyed all the footages with his one good eye, he squinted. His eyes locked into the man in gold, floating before the Sun like a god. "Hill?"
[Reference Image]:
"Yessir?" Agent Hills looked up from her screen.
"Draft a new file, codenamed 'Spectrion'," Fury ordered. "Make it a class 50, extinction-level security. Level Omega/Alpha clearance."
"Will do, sir," Maria Hill tapped away on her tablet, leaving Fury to his thoughts.
[Kamar-Taj]:
[The Ancient One POV]:
Viewing all the events through the Orb of Agamotto, the Ancient One watched it all — From Lewis leaving Earth to his clones, to his clones' individual missions and tasks. She saw it all.
And while it is her duty to take care of threats to reality, she has yet to decide if Lewis is one.
"I'm well aware that he is an aberration from this timeline's original self. I've seen the waves he's made," The Ancient One thought aloud, alone in her chamber. "I've even used the Eye of Agamotto to peer into the future to no success. It seems the future regarding the boy is… highly restricted, especially when pertaining to the clone named Chris. That one is a strange one."
"That said, he's not knocking anything off course. All things are going pretty much exactly as they should. He seems to be conscious of his actions."
The Ancient One pondered this for a moment before choosing a decision.
"I'll keep tabs on him. For now," she said. "And should he step out of place… I'll do my duty…"
[General POV]:
Meanwhile, in space, sunbathing, a certain powerhouse is beginning their interstellar journey…
