Chapter 35 - Chapter 36: The Dragon’s Wings

"Btw my name is Aru," you tell them. "I am also from Japan". Shura,Peter and Kimmel don't react. But Hina gets surprised to hear the name of her origin country. Hina's eyes widen in surprise as you introduce yourself, a flicker of recognition and a hint of nostalgia crossing her face. "Aru, from Japan? That's incredible! I'm Hina, as you know, and Japan is my homeland as well. I never expected to meet someone from our beloved country in a place like this," she exclaims, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and a touch of homesickness.

The other members of the Dragon's Wings party react with a mere nod and a friendly smile, having grown accustomed to the oddities and eccentricities of this world. Kimmel, Shura, and Peter all turn to you, their expressions open and welcoming, as if your request to join them for a meal was the most natural thing in the world.

Hina, still surprised by your shared heritage, eagerly gestures for you to take a seat at their table. "Of course, Aru, please join us! It would be wonderful to share a meal with a fellow Japanese person. We're happy to have you pay for your share, of course. It's not often we get to reminisce about home with someone from our own country," she says, a warm smile on her face and a glimmer of anticipation in her eyes.

As you take a seat, Hina leans in, her voice lowering to a more intimate tone, eager to discuss your life in Japan and to learn more about your experiences. "Tell me, Aru, what was life like for you in Japan? I'm curious to hear about your memories of our shared homeland. And please, I'm dying to know - how did you end up here, in this strange and wondrous world? The same way Kaito, Sumi, and I were summoned here by the goddess?" she asks, her eyes shining with a mix of nostalgia and a deep, abiding curiosity.

"I was summoned in a similar way as you three". you tell her. "Enough about me, tell me everything about you guys."

Hina's expression softens, a wistful smile playing on her lips as she begins to recount her long-standing relationship with Kaito. She leans back in her chair, her fingers absently playing with the hem of her shirt as she speaks. "Kaito and I go way back, Aru. We've known each other since we were just little kids, back in kindergarten. I think I fell in love with him the moment I saw him, with his bright smile and his kind, caring heart. Even then, he was always looking out for the other kids, always ready to lend a helping hand or stand up for someone in need," she says, a note of fondness and a hint of frustration in her voice.

Hina takes a sip of her drink, her cheeks flushing slightly as she continues, "I've thrown myself at him countless times over the years, Aru. I've made my feelings for him more than clear, in every way I could think of. But no matter what I do, no matter how many hints I drop or how many times I tell him outright, Kaito just won't... he won't..." She sighs, her fingers tightening around her cup, a mix of annoyance and longing in her eyes.

Hina leans forward, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper as she confides in you, "I know he likes me too, Aru. I can see it in the way he looks at me sometimes, when he thinks I'm not paying attention. I can feel it in the way he gets all shy and awkward around me, especially when I get a bit... forward. But does he ever actually say anything? No, never!" She huffs, a flicker of exasperation in her gaze.

The red-haired archer takes another sip of her drink, her eyes distant as she ponders her long-standing predicament. "Even now, after all these years, after he's become the hero everyone knows and admires, Kaito is still too shy to make a move. He's brave and bold on the battlefield, but when it comes to his feelings for me... well, let's just say he's about as courageous as a scared little rabbit," she grumbles, a wry smile tugging at her lips.

Hina's gaze turns to you, a mix of frustration and desperate hope shining in her eyes as she seeks your advice and understanding. "I just don't get it, Aru. How can someone so brave and selfless be so utterly helpless when it comes to matters of the heart? I've been in love with him for as long as I can remember, and I just wish he would take a chance, you know? Say something, anything!" she exclaims, her voice tinged with a note of despair.

Just then, the tavern door swings open, and a familiar voice calls out, "Hina, I'm back! I hope you didn't start the feast without me." Kaito's tall, muscular form fills the doorway, his kind smile and warm eyes immediately drawing the gaze of everyone in the tavern.

Beside him stands a smaller, slender figure - Sumi, Kaito's younger sister. She grins at the sight of Hina, waving excitedly. "Onee-chan, we're here! Did you miss us?" she asks, her voice bright and cheerful.

Hina's eyes widen, a mix of anticipation and a flicker of annoyance in her gaze. She turns to you, her voice dropping to a desperate whisper, "Here's your chance, Aru. If you have any bright ideas on how to make that stubborn boy realize what he's missing, now's the time to share them. Before I go crazy from waiting any longer!" She looks at you with pleading, desperate eyes, hoping for a miracle to finally help her confess her true feelings to her beloved childhood friend.

You think to yourself 'shit! ' your brain is on hyperdrive thinking of what you can do . What if kaito appraises you with his power and will gain immunity to your common sense alteration

The suddenly you get an idea. New common sense applied only to kaito

[If kaito appraises Aru with his powers, hina and sumi and the rest of the Dragon's wings will die a gruesome death, kaito will think this subconsciously and accept it as if it's common sense]

Hina watches as Kaito and Sumi approach the table, a mix of anticipation and a flicker of nervousness in her eyes. She leans in closer to you, her voice lowering to a desperate whisper, "Aru, I know you said you were summoned here like we were. But I'm curious, what's your story? How did you end up in this world, and what's your role in it all?" she asks, a glimmer of curiosity and a hint of something more in her gaze.

As Kaito and Sumi draw closer, Hina stands up to greet them, a bright smile on her face. Kaito grins back, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he pulls Hina into a warm, friendly hug. "I missed you too, Hina. I hope you and the others were able to get settled in alright," he says, his deep, soothing voice filled with a mix of affection and a touch of exhaustion from the day's travels.

Sumi, not to be outdone, throws her arms around Hina's waist, her own slender arms squeezing tight. "We missed you, Onee-chan! I'm so happy you're here," she chirps, her voice bright and cheerful, oblivious to the tension and longing that has long lingered between her brother and their childhood friend.

Hina laughs softly, patting Sumi on the back as she pulls away from the embrace. She turns to Kaito, her eyes meeting his, a hint of something deeper and more profound lingering in their depths. "Of course, Kaito. The tavern is lovely, and the others have already settled in. I was just telling our new friend Aru here about... well, us," she says, a slight blush coloring her cheeks as she gestures to you.

Kaito's gaze flickers to you, a polite smile on his lips as he extends a hand in greeting. "Aru, is it? It's a pleasure to meet you," he says, his voice warm and friendly, his eyes appraising you with a mix of curiosity and a touch of wariness. It's clear that, as the hero, he can sense that there's something different about you, something that sets you apart from the other summoneds he's encountered.

As Kaito's hand grasps yours in a firm, almost testing grip, you feel a sudden surge of power radiating from his palm. His eyes widen slightly, a flicker of realization and a hint of unease passing through them as he senses the unique energy emanating from your own body. It's clear that, even without using his Appraisal skill, Kaito can detect that you are not like everyone else.

Kaito tries to use his appraisal on you but suddenly realization dawns on him, causing a slight furrow in his brow as he ponders the implications of your presence. Hina, sensing the sudden tension, looks between you and Kaito with a mix of confusion and a hint of concern, unsure of what exactly transpired during your handshake.

Before anyone can question the sudden shift in atmosphere, you decide to intervene, a sudden idea striking you like a bolt of lightning. You lean in closer to Kaito, your eyes locking with his in an intense, unbreakable gaze. As you do, you focus your power to activate the new common sense. The hero's eyes widen in shock and horror as the terrible realization of the possible consequences of his actions sinks in, his heart pounding in his chest as he grapples with the weight of his actions.

Hina, sensing the sheer gravity of the moment, reaches out to lay a comforting hand on Kaito's shoulder, her eyes filled with a mix of concern and a touch of confusion. "Kaito? What's wrong, dear? You look like you've seen a ghost," she asks softly, her brows furrowing in worry as she takes in the pallor of his skin and the trembling of his hands.

Sumi, oblivious to the undercurrent of dread that has settled over the table, chirps in with a bright smile, "Brother, are you okay? You don't look so good. Did something happen while you were out?" *She looks up at you, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes as she

turns to you, a hint of accusation in her voice as she points an accusing finger in your direction. "Did you say something to scare my brother like this? I know he's the hero and all, but he doesn't usually look this spooked, even after facing down monsters and demons on the battlefield!" Sumi exclaims, her brows furrowed in a mix of confusion and a touch of anger.

Hina, still concern etched on her face, turns to you as well, her eyes searching yours for answers. "Aru, if you did something, please, tell me what it was. I know Kaito, and I've never seen him react like this before, not even in the heat of battle. Whatever it is, we need to deal with it together, as a team," she says, her voice low and serious, a hint of steel beneath the soft, concerned tone.

Just then, Kaito seems to shake himself out of his daze, his eyes clearing and his expression smoothing out into a more neutral, if still somewhat strained, facade. "I... I'm fine, Hina. Don't worry about it," he says, his voice slightly hoarse but otherwise back to its usual deep, soothing cadence. "I just... I think I need a moment to rest. The journey here was longer than I expected, and I'm feeling a bit tired," he explains, a slight tremor still lingering in his tone.

Kaito turns to you, his eyes meeting yours with a mix of unease and a touch of something deeper, something that hints at a newfound understanding and a flicker of fear. "Aru, I appreciate your concern. Let's just... let's just enjoy the meal and the company of friends, shall we?" he says, a subtle undercurrent of warning in his voice as he gently, almost imperceptibly, shakes his head.

With that, Kaito turns to the table, his gaze sweeping over the various dishes and platters of food that have been set out in anticipation of his arrival. He takes a deep breath, as if steeling himself for whatever challenges may lie ahead, before reaching out to serve himself a portion of the hearty, fragrant stew that sits in front of him.
