Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Death is Love

Jiro had a special equipment set for this scenario. Her quirk was hearing after all. She not only had muffs, but plugs for her jacks to enter. All in the name of silencing her hearing … whenever her parents went at it.

Shut up, gross brain!

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" She didn't realize it was going to be a 'special' day for her parents. She risked actually listening in on whatever pervy love talk they did in private. She loved her folks, but she didn't need to get to know them THIS well!

She started scrolling through her phone, hoping to at least forget about the whole situation by talking to one of her friends. "Let's see, who's available." Iruma had a group chat going on labeled 'Summer School'. Apparently it was class bent on getting extra credit, and avoiding extra lessons when going to the Summer Camp. Aizawa wasn't going easy after he was burnt alive.

Iruma was going for points on his written test … barely passing doesn't mean perfect pass. Bakugo was going due to being a friendless perfectionist, accompanied by Kirishima, his only friend and someone that needed these points.

Ochako and Toru were there too. They passed okay, but their performance on the Physical docked it down to a more average grade. Iida was there, probably because he did whatever it took to be the model student, especially after the whole Stain incident. Sato, Sero, Aoyama, and Shoji all went due to their failing alongside Kirishima.

She scrolled in for other chats, finding 'ticks and memes' … modded by obviously the Bakusquad. Apparently it was once named the Bakusquad, but Kaminari's legs only took him so far.

Speaking of which, Ja-Kamin-damn it-she was surprised he wasn't on the extra credit chat, then again, his physical exam was one of the better ones, probably the best in her opinion. She expected him to be distracted the whole time staring at Yaoyoruzo's gigantic honkers that she..

Damn it, she was starting to let his dumbness affect how she saw the Class President. So what if they were probably dating now. Yaoyoruzo was just a naive rich girl showing gratitude. Down the line, she would see Den-Kaminari wasn't the type to 'settle down' for one girl and move on with her life. He was too stupi…

Damn it! Why couldn't she stop thinking like that!? Den-Kaminari wasn't a stupid perv like Mineta … even if he did help in the cheerleading uniforms. Then again now there were three girls in the class who would probably wear that just to get boys attention. There was probably a chat about horniness at this point.

…Would you look at that, there was. Against better judgment, she clicked on it. "Wow, Toru's been on here more than Mineta." She scrolled. "Roleplay, fantasies, coming outs, pics of-" Her brain short circuited as Kaminari's shirtless self asked if he had a mole on his back.

She looked at her bedroom door, locked it, and turned off the light. How long until that beach day came?

This was going to suck. Shoji tapped his fingers against the desk as they waited for Aizawa-sensei. The more time he was here, the less lessons he had to take at the summer camp Aoyama trapped him in.

He would murder the bastard if he could, but he would settle with beating the crap out of him during combat training. 'Huh, so this is what it's like to be Bakugo.' He didn't think the explosive pomeranian could be so sympathetic until now.

"Wait, Iida, Ochako, Toru? You're here too? I thought you did amazing during the exams?" Iruma asked his group of friends, and it was a fair question. Iruma was probably the only one in his group that needed to be here.

"I'd never miss a chance to spend time with you, Iruma-kun~". Hagakure went on to be as unsubtle as possible.

"We got points docked even if we didn't fail. It was this or the lessons at the training camp." Lucky girl had a choice.

"One should always strive to enter a learning opportunity, for it shall help us grow as better students!" Iida shouted with his hand chopping.

"I'm just here for credit, fuck off extras." Bakugo was there too, the perfectionist asshole he now had a deep empathetic bond towards.

"I'm here to regain my manliness! It's going to be a tough journey, but I'll see to it till the end if I have to." Kirishima ranted. Yeah, being worse than Mineta will do that to a person. It was a complete one-eighty to how it was during the Sports Festival.

"I just want to make the pain a little easier during the summer camp." Sato pounded his head on his desk, stuck in the same remedial hell he would be forced to enter in about another month or so.

"I am here as well, to look fabulous for everyone." He wanted to strangle the sparkling man in ways only Hagakure could put into words.

"Damn it, I knew I shouldn't have trusted the grape headed bastard." Sero was stuck. "This is so not fair. What else could I have done in that situation!?"

"You could've taped your helmet to your head to make it harder for Midnight-sensei to take it off." Iruma offered. Sero stared at the boy for three seconds before he too banged his head against the desk. Misery loves company.

Aizawa walked in. "Larger then I expected, not many people that are fun to torture though …" He didn't know if he should be offended. "You'll be doing hostage negotiation." Fuck, now he couldn't beat the crap out of Aoyama…for now. People went missing during a hostage crisis, right?

David typed on his computer. Sure, maybe his last few projects haven't been accepted. Maybe the Quirk Enhancer could have been dangerous in the wrong hands. Maybe the atom blaster might have been overkill. And MAYBE the Ultron program was a tad in bad taste. But he needed something, All Might was failing, his health never recovered after that fight a few years back.

He admired his long time friend so much, even with his body failing him more and more everyday, he was still the number one hero in Japan, heck, to most, he was still the number one hero in the world. Other countries had him to thank for setting the example, just ask Stars and Stripes.

There had to be something, ANYTHING he could do! Something to make that light All Might emanate last just a little bit longer. Just something to keep him alright until he could ensure the future would be alright.

"Papa, are you still in there?" The best thing in his life, his daughter, knocked and came into his office.

"Oh, yeah sweetie, sorry, I need to work on a project that won't be rejected. My last few hits were a bit hit and miss." He laughed.

"Papa, a robot tried to gain sentience, realized life was pointless, and self destructed."

"That would be a miss." He joked. "How about you, any new and exciting inventions?"

"Oh, I'm coming close to applying my nano-tech in a new way!" Melissa handed him a blueprint for some sort of special bracer. "I was thinking about Uncle Might when I came up with it. I thought I could make something that could take the full force of his smashes, I could stop the damage to anyone with a similar quirk."

"That would be an incredible improvement." He smiled. "You know I tried to do something like this back in the day, but tech wasn't as advanced as it was now, and it just ended up as a sixteen foot mecha." And at that point it was just impractical.

"Right, the equipment Uncle Might called 'clunky." They both shared a laugh. Even now, Toshi's light inspired not just heroes, but to every corner of life, inspiring his daughter to achieve great things. "So did you send the invitation, I can't wait to see him again."

"Of course, I did it right to Nedzu, that guy knows how to get All Might's notice as soon as he can." Right now he was probably raising a wonderful generation of smart, responsible, and talented heroes.

"Did you kill him?" Kirishima asked his buddy, staring down at the corpse of 'Villain Might'.

"I just got here, you shitty haired idiot! I didn't have time to kill him!" That still didn't rule out murder.

"Alright, what's the situation?" Ochako floated down, noticing the body. "Holy shit, did Bakugo kill him?"

"It wasn't me! Think about it! I was barely able to scratch him during the exams! As much as I hate to admit it, I'm not strong enough to kill All Might!" First time he admitted something like that, progress.

"Nobody move!" Iida came rushing in. "Villain, prepare yourself for-Bakugo, we just started! There was no need to kill him!"

"WILL PEOPLE STOP ASSUMING IT'S ME!?" His bro was going to lose it.

"Wow." Hagakure's voice shouted out. "Bakugo finally killed someone."

"That's it! If another extra says that, someone really is going to die today!"

This time Iruma showed up, likely to break the camel's back, staring into the room as Bakugo gave the boy a glare to just 'try it'. He was half curious and half terrified. "Toru, it's an exam, you don't need to get so violent."

In the quickest transitions of personality swaps he's ever seen, Bakugo went from murderous to full on laughter, and even weirder, Uraraka joined him on it. "BWAH. HAHAHA, Iruma, you're, you're just too much at times!"

"According to Bakubro-"

"Don't call me that!" There it was.

"He just walked in like this after one explosion."

"I'll tie him up, just in case he's playing dead." Iruma pulled out some capture tape. "I've seen enough Hobos to know." Everyone looked just the right amount of worried as they let the boy continue to do so. Best to avoid that can of worms for now.

"Actually the blood looks like a knife wound." Iida stated, likely from experience. "Meaning he was stabbed." They all turned to him. What, why?

"You are the only guy here who can create a cut wound." Shoji spoke up as everyone caught up, now having the area quarantined. Looking inside there was Midnight, Present Mic, and Cementos.

"Midnight-sensei did say she wanted to grab Bunny-sensei's knife, but I didn't know she wanted to kill him." Iruma spoke, completely missing the context. "She said she wanted him to stab her with it, but Bunny-sensei's not evil, so he wouldn't do that."

"Iruma-kun, please, stay out of the investigation." Hagakure looked like she was patting the boy. "Leave it to us and just keep 'Villain Might' restrained … I'm going for an interrogation." He could feel the killer aura the invisible girl was sending Midnight, who along with Cementoss and Present, were tied up with rope.

"Please, it wasn't me! I have a family to look after!" Ah right, persona.

"Toru, we can punish Midnight-sensei for tainting Iruma's innocence when this is over, right now she's just a possible civilian/suspect." Uraraka reminded her.

"All right, let's proceed with this rationally!" Iida approached the 'hostages'. "Please, tell us why you are here and where you were when the villain arrived if you can."

"I own this store, I was displaying these precious and priceless artifacts of the olden times." Cemnetoss went a little overkill for the story. "When I was blindsided by the man running in. I was lucky to hit the emergency alarm, even though the police arrived much quicker than I expected."

"I'm an executive at an advertising agency." Midnight played into her role. "I was just here to pick up a few new pieces when I noticed the villain, who tied me up before I could resist him." And already she was treating it like roleplay.

"Yo, I'm a funky musician just trying to chill!" Well, Kirishima already knew who he WANTED to be guilty. "I just came here to get a fresh set of bling for my smokin GF when that villain came barging into my personal biz and knocked me out!"

"It's Midnight." Sero spoke. Everyone turned confused to the casual looking student. "Mic is too stupid and Cementos called the police and said they came early, meaning someone alerted them before he did." That … made sense.

"Hold it, Tape arms, you're jumping ahead without looking where your fucking going." Bakugo, unsurprisingly, disagreed. "The jewelry is still here in the case.." He pointed to a bag that was inside a broken glass cabinet. "And both civilians have money to buy Jewelry. It's the owner. He worked with the villain, and killed him to take it for himself, expecting to get away scott free because he was a 'victim.'"

"But if he was behind the desk he wouldn't be able to stab him without some reach." Hagakure put on gloves and some of Sero's tape to demonstrate. "See, if he did it like this it would just be impractical, you'd be noticed by everyone and the villain would be able to dodge." Why did she know this?

"But if the gems weren't stolen, why did they do it?" Iruma asked. "Don't people rob jewelry stores for money?"

"Unless the goal wasn't about getting money." Sato rubbed his chin. "What if the villain came here with the intention of killing someone in the store at the time? That would explain where the knife came from."

"But he was stabbed, could they disarm-" Kirishima was cut off by Ochako

"Yeah, he's big so it's actually super easy." That got a lot of stares from the girl. "What, this is what I learned at Gunhead's agency. Just get the right leverage and piles of muscle will be down on the floor in no time."

"Super manly!" He shouted with wide eyes. "Wait, so who was he closest to during the time of the murder?" He turned to the civilians.

"It was them!" All three of them pointed to each other. They shouldn't have expected their teachers to make it easy.

"So they all grabbed a knife and stabbed the teacher?" They looked at Iruma.

"Iruma-kun, what did I say?"

"Keep All Might secure?"

"Yes, please keep doing that sweetie, and nothing else." Hagakure patted the boy's head.

"Okay!" Doormat, he almost forgot about that.

"Dodger raises a good point. All of them could be guilty as far as we know." Bakugo lit his palms. "So let's treat them all like villains until they start talking!"

"Bakugo, restrain yourself!" Shoji grabbed his bro by the arms.

"Get off me, tentacles, they're guilty till proven innocent!"

"I know you don't believe that's how it goes!" Iida shouted as the rest of the class began fighting to keep the explosive kid down.

"I still hold my point about Cementos, it was too hard to get a good stab range. Maybe the cops clue is the answer." Hagakure suggested.

"I believe the answer may be more grim than we wish it to be." Aoyoma spoke for the first time since the scenario started. "The villain was the only one who could've been armed with the weapon, it's unlikely any of them could've apprehended the miscreant, and the police arrived earlier than expected. The villain took his own life." For some reason, Aoyama looked almost..emphatic to the situation.

"The villain … took his own life?" Iruma asked with confused eyes. "But, why? Why would anyone do that?"

"Guilt, an unprecedented amount of it. All signs pointing to one outcome." He held a hand to his chest. "Love."

"Wait, you're saying…" Uraraka pointed to the villain and to Midnight. "The ad executive and the villains were lovers!?"

"Lo-love?" The boy looked even more confused. "No, no that's stupid. If they loved each other, then he wouldn't have killed himself! You can't love someone if you're dead!"

Aizawa waited outside the building, waiting for them to finish the story, hand on button to either call it a pass or fail. "He would if it meant protecting her." Strong words for a teen.

Midnight sold the performance by breaking down in tears. "No … stop … don't let it be in vain." The woman should really put more effort into that Drama club.

"You're telling me this was a damn love story the entire time!?" He was really starting to doubt Bakugo's capacity for empathy. Sure, he probably kept the fact it was a test at the front of his mind, which was logical, but he wasn't going to go far in the provisional license exam if he kept that attitude up.

"So she got her lover … to stab himself?" Shoji asked, confused. "Do you want to fill us in Aoyama, you seem to have this in the bag."

"Phoenix Wright this shit!" Sero screamed out.

"The executive and villain were previously enraptured with one another. She knew he was a villain, but chose to love him all the same." Aoyama explained the story. "But since she came in after the villain, I realized she was the caller as Sero stated before. She called the police, but chose to run inside in hopes of persuading him to stop his foolhardy endeavor. He tied her up, the same as the others, but once the police arrived, he found himself connored with no easy solution."

"So with his lover wanting him to change his ways, and the police no doubt going to take him away, he took his own life, unable to decide between his love and his greed." Hagakure was making rubbing motions where her head was, so she was probably crying. "So tragic!" Her next instinct was to latch onto Suzuki, who still looked confused.

"Alright, that's enough." Aizawa stepped inside, feeling the situation had reached its logical conclusion.

"Oh finally, these ropes were giving me chafing." Midnight stood up, stretching. "All Might may be the number one hero, but he's the worst one for a kinky time." She purposely ignored the stupefied looks as the others followed.

"Sushi then? I'm feeling something sweet and sour." Cementos asked.

"... They can act really well." Sero decided to speak up. "Wait, did we pass?"

"There were many factors to this test. One of the objectives was for you to use sound deductive skills and common sense to obtain information. You constantly asked questions and made sure the facts lined up to a solid conclusion. The villain indeed stabbed himself." Aizawa explained the first half of the test.

"YES! We did it!" Aoyama, you're the man!" Kirishima foolishly celebrated early.

"I aim to please." The twinkling student bowed.

"However, there was one crucial detail all but one of you overlooked." He pointed to 'Villain' Might, who was now sitting up, trying to inch his way to the doorway, and failing, because he was tied up. "The villain wasn't dead. You just assumed he was a corpse, and didn't think to tie him up."

"Wait..so he was alive in this situation?!" Uraraka shouted in confusion. "But the only one who looked after the villain…"

"Congratulations, Suzuki. You passed with full credit."

"Yes!" He shouted. "Surviving hobos worked like a charm!" Maybe he should have been worried from day one, the rest of his time here just gave it context.

"The rest of you fail. Go home, school's over for the day." The screaming made planning this whole thing worth it.

"What's I-island?" Toshinori shouldn't have been as surprised as he was when Young Suzuki asked him that question. "Are there tropical fruits and beaches?"

"Ah, no. It's not exactly your typical Island. It's a man-made one that's constantly moving." He explained it in hopefully easy enough words.

"You can make an island? Imagine all that sand you'd have to move." … Work with it.

"Anyways, It's a gathering of heroes and support companies combining together to show off the latest gear, and my old friend from America has invited me and one guest during the break before the Training Camp."

"Will it be too long?" He asked. "I'm meeting up with my friends for a beach trip and I don't want to miss it. Everyone looked so excited."

"Not at all, you'll have plenty of time to prepare before then." He wouldn't deny his successor a chance for fun with his classmates.

"Thank you! This works out great! I get to have fun and spend time away from my parents!" Why couldn't Nedzu let him confront the Suzuki's personally? He would hold back on the smashes…enough.
