Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Duel at … 3:04?

"Your time starts now." Shoji walked in, hearing out the area. The footsteps of snipe's cowboy boots were heard walking through certain halls. "We need to avoid this direction, we'll head around and keep our distance."

"Oi, simple and straightforward. Not the most glamorous of plans, but I'll be sure to shine where I can." Aoyama, the last person he'd take for a partner during an exam, answered in his usual weird tone while facing out into who knows where.

"Right, just tone down the twinkling. Last I checked, Snipe's quirk was homing." If they even had the slightest amount of attention, the pro would fire off without hesitation. The bullets were probably rubber for the test, but in a real attack, one bullet was all it took to end it all.

"So he doesn't need to aim to hit us then?" His partner asked. "Seems like it's really a matter of a quick draw if he finds his way to our location." He had a point, maybe they could blind him with the laser and make a break for it. Great, now he had a ditchable distraction.

"Alright then, we'll have to get the drop on him first before he finds us." They moved from pillar to pillar, the footsteps and breathing of the pro getting louder. Just a little more…"There." He whispered, the pro having his back turned. "Alright, if we just keep moving, we can reach a safe enough distance to fire and run." The gate shouldn't be too far from here, so as long…

BANG!

They flinched at the gunshot that sounded out in the room, hearing a bullet wiz past them and into the wall … causing the solid concrete to crack as a metal bullet hit the ground. "That was yer warning shot fellas." That was the warning shot? What happened to RUBBER bullets!? "Might wanna consider duckin out and surrendering if ya too yellow to continue." Alright, pinned and threatened with injury. What was the plan here?

"Surrender does not appeal to me. And thus, I shall take you head on!" Aoyama, what the fuck were you doing?

==

Snipe watched as the shining boy walked out with his hands raised. "Head on, you seem to be surrendering to me." Seriously, he figured the fancy pant's student to be the first one to start running with his tail between his legs. This seemed to be something more out of Bakugo's book.

"Aoyama, this is idiotic!" The blonde's multi limbed partner seemed to share a similar line of thought

"So is talkin loudly when you're tryin to hide!" He shouted out. Then again, fancy pants already ruined the element of surprise, so major points were lost already.

"Nonsense, two long range quirk users going against one another, a matter of who strikes who first. Or is your hat just for show?" NOBODY insults the hat.

"Ya have until the count of three to fire." He gave his ultimatum.

"I'm ready when you.." The boy slowly began to charge his laser.

"Three." He shot the belt, which made it sizzle and spark until it felt off of his person. "Never assume a varment will keep to their word. You can never trusta word out of their mouth."

"Understood … Snipe-sensei …" The boy shook in place, looking at his belt, which was now leaking a sparkly substance. "My Naval …" Oh right, support item.

"Aoyama, hang.." He shot off another bullet in the multi-armed student's direction.

"Now, Now, this is still a test, and I'm not an unreasonable man who enjoys the misery of my students." That distinct honor went to Aizawa and Nedzu. "You can attempt to make a break for the gate, but I assure you you're not gonna make it without quite a few holes in your arms."

"I surrender … I'm getting a bit … woozy … stars." And sparkly pants hit the ground like a sack of potatoes. He blinked a bit before turning to the multi-armed kid behind the pillar.

"I'll surrender, I doubt I can do anything right now." Good boy. A shame, he likely would have passed too. One could almost assume fancy-pants sabotaged the whole thing, but why would he want to fail on purpose?

==

"How peculiar." Nedzu observed the test from his own monitor from a distance. Yuaga Aoyama, his case was a strange one. Born with a defect where he couldn't stop leaking lazer's from his navel, and had to constantly wear support gear to stabilize it.

The file said he was a late bloomer, and it wouldn't be the first time he's seen a case like that. There was one man who didn't get his quirk until the age of thirty, hit by a bus, only to learn he can come back from an unnatural death.

Still, considering how there was already one case of a 'late bloomer' in Suzuki Iruma, and the seemingly reappearance of All For One, Nedzu didn't want to leave any stone unturned. If he could clear Hagakure of all suspicion, maybe she could lend her talents to two cases. Then again Suzuki was a very clear case with plenty of evidence that just needed tact to deal with it.

So far he hadn't gotten anything out of it, she just went on her days without much problem. Suzuki never said anything so she either never went to his house or was better at hiding then they thought. Oh well, pondrys for later.

"Right now I need to work on this." Plant a bomb there, a cage there, spike pit there, and some corrosive acid here. He felt sorry for Ashido, being dragged along with this, but All Might's successor needed a painful reminder about making nature angry. He would do this, in the name of all his mousey brethren that had fallen to the sheep in wolf's clothing.

Suzuki Iruma thought of himself as a survivor? He'll push those instincts to the absolute brink.

==

Iruma watched as Aoyama hit the ground. "Is he okay? He was shot and looked like he was in a lot of pain." They need some alcohol and bandages, and maybe a tweezer if nobody has long nails.

"No, the bullet only shot the belt. He needs it to control his quirk." Momo explained it. "It stabilizes the laser to make it usable."

Iruma blinked, looking at the screen as the laser 'bleed' out. "So … he's like me then." Iruma looked down at his hands. "His quirk hurts him."

"Huh, that's actually something I didn't notice." Ochako said from his side. "But you got it completely under control now, right? You're running and flipping across walls like a super-wolf!"

"A little, but it's only twelve spoonfuls of power, maybe fifteen if I push it." The gear Mei gave him helped, but not THAT much.

"Are you saying you get that fast and strong with only twelve percent?" Kaminari looked down at his hands. "So much …"

"So manly!" Eijiro shouted out. "That's some badass muscle work there!"

"And he's already pretty strong without the quirk." Toru hugged him from behind, grabbing his stomach tight for some reason. "So many muscles under here. You're going to do great, Iruma-kun! I'm sure brawn can beat brains here with your super determination fueling it!"

"No, if that was the case Sato would have beaten me in the sports festival, he's super strong!" He smiled. "I can't even lift as much as he does."

"Ah, it's nothing.." Sato waved off, before stopping. "Wait, did he just call me dumb?"

"He's a kid, Sato, he doesn't know what he's saying." Tsu patted the guy's back.

Iruma should really try and cheer Aoyama up … Iruma just got his quirk. He can't imagine what it was like to live with one that hurt you. "It's strange." Iida looked over the screen. "Aoyama completely ruined the element of surprise once Snipe showed his hand. Even challenging a Pro head on at this level isn't something anyone rational would try to do."

"Well he's a moron." Shoto said. "That's why he lost, right?"

"I suppose that could be it..but I can't help but wonder if he even tried." Didn't try…why would Aoyama not try to pass?

==

"Hey Bubble Girl." Mirio leaned over to the secretary. "Need help with that paperwork? Try hard enough and I might fold." He waited for the laughter. A minute passed. "Ah, no need to get crumpled. Maybe we should get a bin to binge."

"Mirio, please, I can't handle the pain of your puns." Awata groaned. "You're lucky I've decided to fake laugh at every third attempt just to avoid the torture machine….so many feathers..so invasive."

"Well we have to get something to tickle your funny.."

"If you say bone I will make my next bubble filled with bleach and shove it down your throat."

"Liver." He finished. "Say, what do you think of this year's students? That Suzuki kid is a real winner in my book!" Someone else as crazy as him.

"Right, he was stupid enough to eat the headband and lucky enough to pass." Awata retorted. "Of course you'd find that fun."

"Hey, he still won! And he made it to the final round. I didn't even do that my first year, or my second!" He laughed. "And to think I thought he was quirkless too. Turns out he's just a really agile kid." Crazy, absolutely, but that's what made him fun. "Hey, where is Sir anyways?"

"He said he was feeling down, so he wanted to cheer himself up." She pointed towards the locked door. "It's like the tenth time this week he's rewatched the festival."

"Oh yeah." He knocked on the door. "Hey Sir, you lovin the festival!?" Mirio called out, despite the waving of hands from Awata.

"..." There was a shuffling of noise before the big man himself came out, blank faced as always. "Believe it or not … I really don't." Huh, he actually couldn't tell if this was a joke. That was weird, usually it was easy for him to notice by this point. "Keep an eye on this Suzuki Iruma. There's….something there I can't figure out."

"No problemo, Sir! Already on it!" He saluted. The man had an interest in somebody, that was a rare sight to see.
