Chapter 53 - Demon King (Part 2)

"So, can we first finish off the matter about the revealation?" Aefia asked. "Actually, I will start even when you don't like it. Let's see, now where was I? Oh right! The Earthling, supposedly, whoever that is, they are working for the Torture Cell." She continued the discussion from earlier when the guard interrupted their conversation in that particular field of topic.

The demon king tapped the edge of the table while resting his chin on his left fist. It seemed to Aefia that he was thinking about something or recalling a long lost memory, but honestly, demon kings had a way to communicate with their subordinates even without any sort of communication devices. They may seem dumb from the outside, but in reality, they always prepare for the worst case scenarios and it was because of their ideas that helped Aefia work through hard decisions.

"It seems that you are pretty intelligent in determining such a rare tactic set up by the Torture Cell. I am honestly surprised that given the fact I know the Torture Cell for some time now, I can tell that you are right. But do you seem to know why they are planning on doing so?" He finally asked.

"I am not intelligent if you say it that way, but it is obviously easy to deduce so, given that I am so unknowingly famous in this realm and beyond. I was thinking you would know about the reason. I can't be wrong in the fact that dropping in suggestions about what they might try to attempt, is completely alright. Let's try to come towards a conclusion after sharing a few ideas." Aefia spoke.

I may already have an idea on what sort of ideas he might drop, but it isn't what I am concerned about. Knowing that he has a colleague-enemy relationship with them, I am using that as a card to play. My main goal is to get more information about the Torture Cell.

"Well then, may I place a hypothesis that I think is possible?" The demon king asked after a long silence. Aefia nodded, allowing him to speak about whatever he knew. Although, she already knew the fact that he was going to play the same cards as Aefia, making a lie seem like a truth with majority of it being a lie. Determining the lie would be a more than difficult task but if he was willing to sell at least a bit of information about them, that would be more than enough for Aefia to pursue her next step.

"I have heard from many sources that the Torture Cell are planning on becoming the most powerful group in this entire universe. As you may have already known, when we mean dimension, we aren't speaking about just one universe. There are multiple universe belonging to multiple different entities across humankind. The leader for each group, wants to outshine the other group and become more powerful as their rivalry grows.

"As far as I think this goes, the Torture Cell are not from this universe at all, but they are this universe's species. They belong and grew up in another universe where it was possible that someone from this universe destroyed their home planet as they are doing right now. All this planets being destroyed and left out, it could be a form of revenge, couldn't it? I know for sure that every single human being think about revenge for whatever they feel like was wrong."

"That could be a possibility, although, I don't think it is a sort of revenge." Aefia replied while continuing to listen into what the demon king had to say.

"Well, if your territory ever got invaded by someone else, won't you try to take revenge for it?" The demon king asked. Aefia nodded for a short while before hesitating. "It feels like that for someone who has been fully blinded by rage. What if, the Torture Cell were a group of people who had their world or universe invaded by someone else and they were kicked out. What if they are the population of people who were kicked out and decided that they would conqure other worlds in order to teach their enemy a lesson?"

"But what sort of lesson are they going to teach? Conquering worlds would be the same thing that their enemies are doing. Isn't it possible that they used their brain a little better to try and deduce another method to take down the enemy? If the Torture Cell were you and your demon populations, won't you have tried to think up a new plan to take down your enemy but also stop doing whatever they have done? Or maybe you and your demons are the same as the Torture Cell in your case, greedy and arrogant." Aefia contradicted.

"Oh yes, you are right about that, but when someone is blinded by rage, they will always pursue the hard truth. That truth would be, that if someone is stronger than you and they take advantage of you, you should stand up and get stronger than the opposing party. Even when it means to die a million lives, you would feel like failing in this stage would be a huge downgrade in front of your enemy. I have read a lot of war memoirs from Earth, and honestly, I have seen so many times where humans killed their best friends to gain in power so they could take their revenge on someone else who they really suffered from."

"Hmm...so what if it is a revenge? Don't you think they will ever come to their senses?" Aefia asked, which left the demon king hung in his mind. He couldn't find any words to say, nor could he really interpret what was going on in his mind. "Well...I don't know. Anyway, why not we discuss the matter about the wishes you really wanted to have granted, after that we can hear your hypothesis."

"My hypothesis..." Aefia thought. I don't really have a hypothesis, but I can make up some information and test to see if the things he just said we're true.

"Right, so my three wishes are...One, I want your chimera dragon as my pet. Two, I want you to free off two of your slaves and three, I want a few of your most powerful weapons. I know that the three wishes that I asked for aren't hard to gather and give." Aefia spoke with a straight forward manner. "Don't ask why I need them, I am not willing to speak about my next actions."

The demon king stared at shock at the almost pale girl's face. "For once, I though you were smart, but you are wrong about yourself not being intelligent. About the chimera dragon, he is an aggressive animal who rarely show up as a support, are you sure you can handle him? And I am willing to give you the weapons as you wish, but the slaves, do you have any specifically in mind?" The demon king finally asked.

"Sure. It's not hard to handle a chimera if you have the sacred key, is it? Or is there any other sort of weapons that you use to try and control it?" Aefia asked.

"Yes, there is a different sort of weapon that is used to control that demonic dragon."

"Then I will take the chimera dragon and the weapon as part of my wish to have some of your strongest weapons. And yes, I do mean two specific slaves of yours. Is it going to be a problem? I will buy them from you if you want. Although, it won't be in the currency you think I will pay you. So think carefully." Aefia tapped the edge of the table.

The demon king breathed out heavily at her sharp words. "That chimera dragon, I really wished for it to listen to me and-..." Aefia abruptly stood up and slammed the table hard, almost extinguishing the flames in the candles. "I am not here to listen to your sorrow tales, are you going to do as I say or not? Otherwise, I am demanding your castle and position as the King of Demons' Dungeons." Aefia shouted at the demon king. Although she was powerless, she knew that the demon king would fear her even when she was calm, especially when she was calm.

The now afraid demon king slowly sat up properly in his seat of honor and bowed his head in his sitting position. "Yes, I understand what you have asked. Forgive me for trying to change the topic. May I know who the slaves are?" The demon king asked with more politeness in his voice.

"Hmm...I appreciate your attempt at apologizing, but I won't accept it the next time. Now, the slaves I want..." Aefia pointed towards the door. "I want the guard who escorted me here and your right handman, who is a prisoner to me right now." She said while taking a seat.

"As you wish." The demon king spoke as she stared with scary red eyes at him. She may be hundreds of years younger than him, but she had more respect in the room compared to any other royalty he had ever met. "Now, would you like to discuss my hypothesis?" Aefia asked with a much calmer tone. "If not, I will take my things and leave."

"No, let's discuss what you have to say." The demon king requested. If I choose to cause anymore disturbance to her, she might as well make me ashamed to show my face in front of my own population of demons. She already has a deep grudge against us demons.

"Actually, I don't think I have a hypothesis. The only thing that comes to my mind is that the Torture Cell is highly likely to be a group who are good at playing make believe with a huge population of people. So let's combine your hypothesis with my idea, what do you think the closest answer to the question, 'What will the Torture Cell do next?' be? I would say, destroy another planet or destroy multiple planets altogether."

"You could be right. But what comes to my mind right now is, what if they are planning on wiping out every single one of the planets that exist in this universe and any remaining humans that exist, they will become their people or work as slaves for them while they rule over this universe the way they want. What if the leader of the Torture Cell just wants to become the ruler of this universe and what if they really are aliens to this universe?" The demon king asked.

Come to think about it, both of our hypothesis leads to just one answer, and majority of the answer is taken from the hypothesis the demon king just said.

"I am curious, what led you to think that your hypothesis could work?" Aefia asked the demon king. "You know, just curious. Because given that you have an ongoing alliance with the Torture Cell, why are you suddenly tell me all this things when you were probably asked to keep things a secret within yourself...I just seemed to have found this discussion a bit...fishy." She made the situation slightly dire to force out the thing she needed to know.

The demon king, now worried about how the situation was progressing, decided to speak out the truth. "Honestly, the revealation, in there, it wasn't really you the person who was mentioned, was it? It was supposedly someone close to you, most probably one of your friends. But you are a very important person as it was stated in the revealation."

The demon king paused for a moment before continuing to say, "I have heard that the Earthlings always bring books that are called memoirs and those are supposed to be based on real life incidents. When we got the book, I have heard multiple rumors saying that it had a possibility to come true. It was amazing to witness Earth humans in real life. It was like a dream come true when we heard about it."

"And did we meet your expectations?" Aefia asked, pretty annoyed.

"I can't judge your species just by looking at you, but I do have a better expectation for human other than you." The demon king replied.

"Very well, I guess you have no other things to add to this discussion? Otherwise, I will take my leave. Oh right! I asked for a couple of things." Aefia got up from her sitting position.

The demon king snapped his fingers and summoned a rack full of different sizes and types of weapons. "You may choose as you like. Each one of them are fitted to adjust and adapt to whoever the owner is. And they are also filled with magic to boost the user's powers, it is said to be able to act as an extension to the user." The demon king explained.

Aefia walked over to examine each one of the weapons one by one. They were sleek and thin as well as decorative. It was said that the demons' weapons were the strongest and most durable compared to other weapons. Their blades were crafted to avoid getting damaged and it had the ability to cut through most materials except certain metals. Those metals were mostly the metals used to craft the blade itself.

Aefia took a look at the range of spears that were stood up. Each of them representing the different guardians who specialized in different categories of the Elements of Life. These weapons are all extraordinary, but which one should I take?

She looked at the spear which had a construction rod-thin handle and there were blade in both sides. The top featured a much bigger and longer sharp point and the other side featuring a thinner and shorter blade. Both ends had a vine like branch which curved from the centre of the handle and wind around the starting point of the blade. The vine, however, was just like the demoness's veil's inner fabric, the space fabric. I know which weapons I want to take.

"I will take these five weapons. That should be enough." Aefia walked towards the dining table and placed it on the ground in front of her. The demon king snapped and the rack dissappeared. He snapped again, and a group of demons came in to wrap the weapons up for Aefia.

A demon who was holding a cloak, came rushing to Aefia. "Sorry for coming without your permission demon king, but I really wanted to hand a thing to someone." The guard spoke.

"No need to give it to her to send it to that someone. From now on, you are free from my rule." The demon king said with an annoyed face and waved him off.

Her lady's son smiled and looked at Aefia who was already departing. "Well? Are you going to stay standing there?" Aefia asked when she noticed him standing in position.
