In the endless void of the Immaterium, Terrabyte —the God of Information and Data—was currently radiating an unprecedented brilliance. His form, constructed from billions of data streams, was violently fluctuating, a sign of uncontrollable ecstasy.
"Success! A portion of my power has successfully departed the Warhammer Universe and entered the Earth side!"
For many, the name Terabyte might be vague, or even completely unfamiliar, as this "Big Developer" hasn't officially appeared in a while.
So, here is a brief introduction:
Terrabyte, due to an un-traceable accident, was reborn in the Immaterium of the Warhammer Universe, becoming the God of Information and Data.
He is the mastermind and creator behind the "Helldivers Corps,".
He achieves his goals—collecting information and expanding influence—by uploading the consciousnesses of mortals into his information network and projecting avatars onto the battlefield using the limitless energy of the Immaterium.
Just now, leveraging the explosive surge in power following the end of the Tyranid War, he made an unprecedented attempt: his first crossing of universes.
The result, as depicted in the previous chapter, was the successful projection of his power into a terminal within the Earth civilization. This was, without a doubt, an ecstatic beginning.
Some might ask: Since Terrabyte can now traverse universes, why stick around in the "Warhammer cesspit"? Wouldn't it be easier to just pack up and move to Earth?
Terrabyte's considerations, however, were far more comprehensive and deep.
Firstly, the Emperor was undoubtedly watching closely. Terrabyte's recent, small-scale power projection might have gone unnoticed because of its modest scale and the fact that his fundamental consciousness remained in the Warhammer Universe.
But this does not mean the Emperor would remain passive if Terrabyte tried to move his entire operation to Earth.
In fact, if Terrabyte genuinely attempted a full migration, the Emperor's psychic hand would likely grab him directly, potentially triggering a conceptual war in the Immaterium.
Though Terrabyte's power has recently soared to the point where he can partially cross universes, he prefers not to clash with any of the five major Chaos Gods—and that includes the Emperor—unless absolutely necessary.
Secondly, as Terrabyte's power has grown, so too has his volume—or the scale of the information network he carries.
His "main body" is a massive informational aggregation requiring vast "space" to accommodate it.
While the "universe" inhabited by Earth's civilization is larger than when he first spied on it, changing from a "fish tank" to a "fish pond," it is still not big enough to hold a "Blue Whale."
If Terrabyte forcefully transferred all his power, he would have to voluntarily shrink himself to the size of a "goldfish," otherwise, he would simply burst the "fish pond."
If that happened, with no water left, he would be stranded and perish. This kind of suicidal behavior was completely unacceptable to Terrabyte.
Thirdly, and most importantly, Terrabyte never intended to put all his strength into the Earth side.
Why put all your eggs in one basket?
That's foolish.
The fact that Terrabyte found an actual, generally accurate universe matching various literary works within Earth's civilization suggests a deeper reality.
The water in that place might be even deeper and more complex than the Warhammer setting. Betting all his chips on it recklessly would be too great a risk.
Therefore, Terrabyte concluded that although the overall situation had changed dramatically—he had successfully driven the first wedge into another universe—he would proceed with the existing plan without modification.
In fact, having a "clone" on the Earth side allowed him to be more aggressive, trying strategies he hadn't dared to use before, and even personally interfering with events to gather information.
After all, with a retreat path secured, his actions in the Warhammer Universe could become much bolder.
Deep within the Immaterium, Terrabyte quickly made his move after a moment of contemplation.
************
Simultaneously, aboard the Ultramarines flagship, the Macragge's Honour, an unprecedented council was underway in a massive conference hall.
Over a hundred Space Marine Chapter Masters from various Chapters were assembled, standing solemnly in their most representative Power Armor.
These infamous Warlords of the galaxy were all focused on the meeting's host: Marneus Calgar.
In addition to the Space Marines, observers from the Ecclesiarchy and the Inquisition were present in the gallery, silently monitoring this most critical strategic planning meeting following the war.
The meeting was nearing its end. Calgar rose to his feet, surveying every hero present. His voice was low but strong: "Gentlemen, all good things must come to an end. The crisis in Ultramar is temporarily over, but the war in the galaxy is endless. May the light of the Emperor forever illuminate your path—"
However, before he could finish his sentence, the space in the conference hall suddenly twisted violently, filling the air with a chilling, unnatural sensation. In the next moment, the entire scene changed completely!
The Chapter Masters present were shocked to find that the seat Calgar had been occupying was now taken by a silver, long-faced Xenos, resembling a human skull.
Its body was composed of a metallic skeleton, with joints flashing green light, emanating a cold and ancient aura.
Calgar, who had been in the main seat, was inexplicably shifted to a side position like the other Space Marines.
The silver Xenos emitted a cold, mechanical voice, and its very first sentence stunned every Chapter Master in the room.
"Xenos."
It slowly uttered the word with a condescending, superior posture.
Before anyone could recover from the sudden change, it continued: "It is truly surprising that the glorious Mynak Dynasty has been asleep for only sixty million years, and the territory is overrun by dirty Xenos.
You are the leaders of this star sector. Following ancient protocol, I shall use a language you can understand to ensure you die enlightened, as the tongue of the Necrontyr is beyond your primitive comprehension."
"The supernova of the Caracul twin stars in the Orpheus Sector will be the clarion call for our awakening. At that time, we will cleanse all life that is not us."
"Until then, write your wills, or simply flail about like unevolved beasts sensing a natural disaster."
Its voice carried an unmatched arrogance and absolute certainty, as if declaring the fate of mere ants.
As soon as it finished speaking, the scene twisted violently again. All the Space Marines and observers felt a flash before their eyes, a brief moment of weightlessness, and then everything returned to normal.
They found themselves back in the massive conference hall aboard the Macragge's Honour, as if nothing had happened.
Yet, everyone knew it was no hallucination.
Calgar was the first to react. His face flushed deep red from sheer, unadulterated fury.
He slammed his fist down with terrifying force, utterly shattering the heavy obsidian conference table in front of him. Shards scattered everywhere with a grating sound.
"Xenos! How dare you!"
