Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Silver with Garcia her stepmom and Damian sat in the living room as they waited patiently for their guests. The atmosphere was heavy, full of anticipation .

Silver s eyes were glued at the door handle, as she nervously waiting for soon to be husband . Her palms were sweaty, she tried to stay calm but couldn't. The ticking sound of the clock felt like it was her heart that was thumbing. She couldn't help it, the silence was suffocating as the ticking of clock became the only sound to be heard.

She wandered what took them long, will they won't be coming they today as they were informed. Her anxiety increased as the time goes, she looked at her stepmom for assurance but seeing how deep she was in thoughts, she could help but release a deep sigh full of desperation and helplessness.

"So this is how it ends? She asked herself. "so this is how I will end up on the street?"

" Maybe I am cursed because I never seen anyone whose life was as miserable as mine". She mocked herself . She took one last glance at the wall clock and shook her head in resignation when she saw that the time was already ten minutes after nine.

As she was about to head back to her room ,she heard a clicking sound of a doorknob, making her to turn abruptly almost felling off from her wheelchair.

Everyone was startled by that noise as their heads jerked towards the source of the noise .

They were dumbfounded by what they saw because standing at the door were two middle aged men with one middle aged woman. Each person looking like someone who has just coming out from a fight in a forest .

The woman has green hair that cascades down her back, her eyes seem to give off a faint orange glow. She wore a long, tight pairs of pants with a black jacket, with her high heel knocking against the floor, she approached them. When she was in a close range, her striking beautiful appearance was revealed, though her finger nails seem to be unusually long. It would have been perfect if her clothes were not full of dust , dried leaves and torn in some areas .

One of the middle aged man has a short spiky red hair, with a darker skin. He has a muscular build like some one who sleeps in gym house. If all these qualities don't make him stand out, then his beard would . It was so long to extend that he has to tie it up with a band, one can even hide an apple in it without anybody noticing it. what a good place to hide things. Since half of his face was covered in beards, it almost became difficult to read his facial expressions. His calm and steady eyes have a golden iris that glows fiercely in the dimly lit room. He has a majestic air around him that makes his presence imposing .Had it not been for his worn-out and disheveled long black coat, he might have been mistaken for a powerful figure in the wolf city. He stood there at the doorway as he observed the room like a old school investigator.

The last middle aged man was only one who seems to be decently normal among them. He had long, black hair tied in a ponytail, and his skin was an exaggerated white. There wasn't any facial hair on his face. His eyes clear as water and face full of smiles making him to appear more friendly. He was close to seven feet tall with an athletic, muscular build that is on the leaner side. The traits of his youthful handsomeness were still there.

Silver was really scared shitless by these group of people. Were they going to robbed by these people.

She could nothing but curse her fate as she sat there with fear. Who is going to call the police? .

Silver's eyes were darting around the room, looking for any signs of help. She looked at her stepmom for answers , only to see her looking at the man with ponytail with confusion and uncertainty, like something was not making sense to her.

"Damn it why is she looking at him like that?Don't tell me this man and his entourage are here for revenge on us because of the rejection he suffered at her hands" she thought to herself.

" Are we in the right place? Asked the bearded man as his expressionless eyes landed on Silver, then to her stepmom as he asked the black haired man.

"Yeah we are certainly at the right place, she's the one we're here for" he answered while pointing at Silver, his face full smiles.

Silver was overwhelmed with dreads as she heard that, her lips was quivering as she tried to say something but no words were coming out. She held her breathe, her fist clenched tightly a waited for those men to do their worst.

"Good, what did you think of her?" This time he was asking the green haired woman that walked in earlier.

"Well, apart from good looks there's nothing else worth mentioning" she replied

Silver was stupefied by these people ethics what do they mean by that? Are they accessing their goods or something, what is the meaning of that? Are they kidnappers? But what sought of kidnappers would kidnap somebody without covering their face. Are they planning on silencing the witness once they are through? She was baffled.

"Ehm sir good evening, i think you guys were mistaken, I mean you targeting the wrong person because there's no way I worth all the hassle you guys passed through just to kidnap me, I mean is it that rewarding? Silver said with confidence and boldness that surprised them. She too was even marveled at herself, "maybe they are not that scary to talk to after all, I would have do more if only I wasn't crippled" she thought to herself. She turned to see their reaction but was stunned again because of how they were looking at her.

Their face was blank as they stared at her like she was speaking with a foreign language. It later turned to confusion as they looked at themselves .

"Jokelyne what is she talking about?" He was asking the beardless man.

" How am I supposed to know , didn't I just enter the room after you? He replied

" I get it, but didn't you mention that you spoke to them and they were totally on board? He asked

"I knew it!" Silver shouted as she overheard their chat, which got her some puzzled stares from everyone in the room, snapping her back to reality. She couldn't shake the feeling that her stepmom was somehow involved in what they were dealing with right now.

"Wait! Wait, everyone calm down. I think there's a misunderstanding here," Jokelyne tried to calm the situation. " Let's start again. He continues as he moves back a little, then starts coming forward, just like someone has just entered.

" Good evening, everyone. My name is Jokelyne Alphandoors, and here is my big brother, Bearbald Alphandoors, with his lovely wife, Longren. We are all here for the purpose of finding a wife." He stated their intentions for coming after introducing others.

What a strange name they'll have; are they from the eighties or what? It can't be what I am thinking. They can't be the people Garcia was referring to when she was talking about marriage earlier, could they? Silver thought to herself as her eyes located her stepmom, who was sitting with a confused look as well.

"Please, sir, though I was expecting a guest a few minutes ago for a marriage discussion, it can't be you since I don't think we have met before," Garcia said confusedly.

"And who among you is the groom?" Silver wanted to voice out but opted to remain silent.

" Oh, in the name of the alpha, we had met before. I am the guy you met at the park yesterday morning. Have you forgotten? You told me that you would think about it and give me a reply today. That is why I came with my people tonight". Jokelyne tried to help jog her memory.

"Though you are entirely correct, it hasn't changed the fact that the person I met yesterday has a beard as good as that of the man standing beside you. Don't tell me you go around eavesdropping on people's conversations," Garcia accused.

"Oh my goodness, it's me, Lyn. What with all this drama?" Jokelyne was totally frustrated as he didn't see any progress in their conversation because it seemed like the more he explained, the more confused she became.

"Oh, is that you, Lynn? But you just said that your name is Jokelyne. Besides, what happened to your beard?" she asked, doubt still evident in her voice.

"Yeah, it's me. As for my name, Lynn, it is my short name derived from Jokelyne, and my beard? I shaved it off since I don't want to be competing with him," he explained while pointing at Bearbald, who in return stared blankly at him. The poor man might be wondering what brings him into their conversation.

Others were just looking at them as they seemed interested in their conversation, Silver included. 'So this is the man that made her drive me out of the house,' Silver thought to herself."

"I never knew you were this handsome. This beard might make someone look old; who knows what is hidden behind the mask of a beard on that brother of yours?" she voiced her opinion without care for who it may offend.

""Hmm, hmm." Bearbald cleared his throat to remind them that they were not the only ones in the room, that they were still present, and it worked.

"If I remember correctly, you never seem to be interested in me, which begs the question: why did you bring your people to seek my hand in marriage? It's not that I'm not interested in starting a new relationship, but my husband died a few months ago. So, give me a few days to finish my grieving, and then I will be all yours."

The room was filled with gasps of disbelief as everyone heard what she said.

The action of Damian, who has been silent since, was exaggerated as he opened his mouth wide like a saucepan, with his eyes bulging like someone who was being strangled to death.

"Mu... Mu... mum, ar... are you serious? What are you saying?" he managed to ask.

"Please keep quiet; this is not your place to talk," chided Garcia to Damian whose face has gone red with embarrassment.

"Hey woman, are you here with us? What are you talking about? Since when did I tell you that I am here to seek your hand in marriage? Please come back quickly because you are not here with us." Jokelyne's mind was blown away by this woman's brazenness.

"He got his match," whispered the bearded man to Longren.

Silver has long grown numb to the bizarre situation she found herself in. She doesn't know who to blame because she found what her stepmom said to be reasonable. If Jokelyne was not here to marry her stepmom, then who was he here to marry? He is the youngest and the only candidate to be the potential groom.
