After the scandal at Lucca and Gerald's wedding broke out, Morrison called Bert to take credit for it, going on at length about how much he had contributed. In truth, he simply wanted Bert to feel indebted to him—and, hopefully, to stop targeting him at every turn in the future.
Unexpectedly, Bert showed no appreciation at all. Morrison talked for quite a while, and Bert responded with just one sentence:
"Are you done? If you are, hang up. I still have a meeting later."
On the other end of the line, Morrison clenched his teeth in anger. He thought Bert was unbearably arrogant—acting so high and mighty just because he happened to be Lilian's older brother.
But there was no way out of it. Swallowing his displeasure, Morrison changed the subject and asked,
"So… that Amy from your company—what kind of person is she?"
