So Bert found himself enjoying her kiss very much. It was clumsy and inexperienced, yet more than enough to stir desire throughout his body.
As his breathing grew hotter and heavier, he lifted a hand to her shoulder and gently pushed her away, stopping her misguided boldness. If it went on any longer, he wouldn't be able to endure it.
The very culprit who had left him thoroughly unsettled, however, leaned back into the seat after being pushed away, smacked her lips, and drifted back into a hazy stupor. Bert took a deep breath, unbuttoned one button of his shirt to cool himself down.
Once his voice had more or less returned to normal, he picked up his phone and called Renata.
"I drank a bit too much tonight and can't drive back. I'll be staying over at Dave's place. You should go to bed early—no need to wait for us."
Renata answered that she understood and hung up.
