Chapter 102 - Chapter 103 Chapter 102 An Inspiration

Chapter 103: 102. A Burst of Inspiration

Although the timid Zhai Mo Nv was already having second thoughts, she thought it over carefully and couldn't resist asking one more question.

"Senior, is that Vannie you mentioned strong?"

Dorothy was a little curious. She thought to herself, if it were other dangerous fields of knowledge, like law, necromancy, or human Alchemy, then yes, the deeper a witch delved into those subjects, the more humanity she lost, and the more dangerous she became if she lost control.

But a Senior specializing in history? That didn't sound very powerful. Just an archaeologist. What kind of harm could that possibly pose?

Dina: "..."

Seeing the curiosity on the young lady's face, the intellectual Senior immediately knew she hadn't given up. She could only continue to explain.

"It's not a question of whether she's strong or not; she was just the former president of the True Sight Eye. She's not from our same batch; she should have graduated from the academy long ago, but because her condition wasn't very stable, her parents, who are history professors at the academy, forced her to stay."

"However, I heard that when she wasn't ill, she consistently ranked in the top three in the academy, and even held the first place for a period. After all, although not as exaggerated as you, Vannie is a true genius who passed the assessments of the eight major factions at the age of 25. I am far inferior to her. It's just a pity that heaven envies genius; she ultimately encountered such a fate."

There was a hint of longing and admiration in Senior Dina's voice; it was clear she seemed to greatly admire that Senior.

Dorothy: "..."

My apologies, I've disturbed you. Farewell.

Damn it, as soon as she heard that a big shot of that caliber had gone mad, how could she dare to provoke her? She immediately prepared to take the book list and go back to study on her own.

However, Senior Dina beside her suddenly paused, as if remembering something.

"Young lady, wait a moment. I suddenly remembered hearing that Vannie's condition has improved recently. It seems she can occasionally return to normal for short periods. Perhaps we can try our luck. It's not far anyway; she usually stays in the basement of this library."

She said this, suddenly a little excited.

It wasn't easy for the young lady to ask her for help, and if she didn't handle it perfectly, Dina felt she would be letting down her identity as the Arch-Bishop of the Great Young Lady Worship Sect. Therefore, she immediately grabbed the young lady's hand and led the way.

This only made Dorothy even more flustered.

No, don't! I've thought about it carefully now, and self-studying history is quite good. I suddenly find history very interesting. I really don't need to ask for help. Senior, just give me the book list, okay?

However, how could a weak witch be a match for a Senior with profound magic? This wasn't a duel with restricted magic; her slight resistance was utterly useless. She was dragged along by the Senior as if she were a paper doll.

The two of them directly arrived at the library's elevator. Once inside, Senior Dina did release her, but the elevator doors had already closed, and Dorothy had nowhere to run.

She could only watch helplessly as the intellectual Senior in front of her took out her ID card and swiped it on the elevator's control panel. Then, the panel, which originally only showed above-ground floors, suddenly displayed several basement levels to choose from, and the Senior directly pressed the lowest floor.

Clang!

Accompanied by the grinding sound of metal gears, the magic-powered elevator began to operate. In a moment of weightlessness, they began to descend, and the heart of the trembling Dorothy gradually rose to her throat.

Oh my god, just thinking about possibly meeting a mad Scientist like those seen in movies and anime, who wouldn't panic? What if the big shot happened to be short on research material at that time?

But since Senior Dina brought her here, presumably Senior would be watching if anything happened. Surely, there shouldn't be a problem, right?

She thought to herself.

"Young lady, relax. You don't need to be so nervous. Vannie is a very gentle person, just like Senior Mia from the Armed Society. She used to be the big sister in our True Sight Eye."

"Even now that she's cursed by knowledge, Vannie isn't as dangerous as other lost ones. The main reason I didn't recommend you come before is that when she has an episode, she falls into a deep sleep and can't communicate. If we're lucky today and she happens to be awake, she can definitely answer your questions."

Senior Dina comforted her, seemingly seeing through Dorothy's nervousness. However, the Senior's analogy made the Zhai Mo Nv even more panicked.

Oh my god, gentle like Mia? Can that even be called gentle? You might be fooled by the facade that she usually puts on, but I know the true nature of that brute. She's an incurable sadist, utterly perverted and debauched.

Upon thinking of the true face of that Senior, who was half her teacher and of the same race, Dorothy suddenly had an ominous premonition.

And, very quickly, as the elevator reached its destination and stopped, Dorothy's premonition quickly became reality, because as soon as the elevator door opened, her inspiration immediately acted up!

However, this time, the inspiration clearly wasn't to help her learn or gain insight; it was to directly allow her to see through to the terrifying scene outside the door.

After all, this was the basement of the library. In Dorothy's original imagination, it should have been a place for storing books. But as soon as the door opened, the overly shocking and terrifying sight directly scared her silly.

She saw a blood-and-flesh mycelial mat made of wriggling flesh chunks covering the floor. She saw eyes, one by one, spinning around on what seemed to be storage constructs made of plant corpses. She heard the squeaking and scuttling sounds of unknown rodents crawling within the walls, and she smelled the pungent stench that only rotting corpses, decayed to their extreme, could emit.

However, none of this was the main point. The main point was the unspeakable beings in the dark mountain range at the end of her vision.

They were shadows crawling and wriggling in the darkness.

They were myriad bubbles of dreamlike, flowing light and color.

They were goat-hoofed monsters waving tentacles and bearing countless mouths.

They were...

Countless indescribable beings, beyond the limits of human imagination, simultaneously hideous yet beautiful, were patrolling all around like guardians. And in their center, a dark witch was quietly slumbering.

However, now, due to the intrusion of outsiders, this slumbering witch seemed to have been disturbed; she slightly furrowed her brow.

And so, countless unspeakable entities opened their countless eyes, turning towards the outsiders who dared to disturb the slumber of their Creator.

Dorothy, nearly scared to death: "..."

So, Senior Dina, you call this a gentle big sister?

The Zhai Mo Nv is in self-isolation.

Yay! Today is another day of beating the laziness monster. The full attendance bonus is waiting for me, all clean and ready.
