Isabella's POV
The next two days passed in silence. Not in peace, but simply in silence.
The kind that makes your stomach twist and your heart beat loud enough to drown out everything else.
I never liked to live in such anxious situations where my nervous system could never be at ease. It was terrifying. Draining. All I ever wanted in life was peace. No one wants to live alone so far from their family, but I'm here all alone just because I wanted peace, and yet I'm unable to have it even here. I don't know what God was planning for me at this point.
The stillness of the situation made me feel numb. Nothing happened at the academy. Nothing at the restaurant. Nothing at home. No new notes. No mysterious packages. No horrifying shadows at my door. It should've been comforting, but it wasn't.
Silence can be more terrifying than noise, because you never know what's hiding behind it.
