Chapter 97 - They Are Here

There wasn't much a bunch of weak monsters could do against the strength of the Symbol of Peace. Tomura was aware of that, more than most.

He had seen the power of the Nomu designed to kill him, and witnessed firsthand that ridiculous display of power in which his Master's creation lost.

If that Nomu couldn't defeat him, these inferiors had even less of a chance.

—What are you waiting for? Go get him— he urged the League members.

Twice was the first to jump forward, three of him, wielding blunt and crackling weapons at the bastard Hero who was beating his Nomu single-handedly.

All Might evaded each of their attacks, sending Twice crashing into the walls as he got closer to the panting Toga, who was barely conscious on the floor.

If Tomura had to be honest, he didn't like the idea of sacrificing the girl. They didn't get along well, nor did they know each other deeply, but he genuinely couldn't find any other explanation for how Terumi found them.

The boy clearly used his sand for tracking, he understood that, but he came directly to this location, directly over Toga Himiko.

When his Master gave him information about Spinner and Toga's sudden transfer, Tomura ordered Kurogiri to rescue them. When Kurogiri returned, he gave him a warning that he didn't take seriously at first.

—It was too easy— he had whispered suspiciously.

Now he wasn't so sure. He even came to suspect Spinner, whose attitude was strange upon returning, but he clearly targeted the wrong person.

—Stop this or your comrade dies!— All Might roared, increasing the power of his blows and thwarting any attempt by the Nomu to hit Sero Hanta, by Dabi to burn them, and by Mr. Compress to trap them.

Everyone flew out from a sudden shockwave that shook the foundations of the building.

Tomura stumbled, his foot giving way to a crack that widened more and more in the floor.

His crazed eyes looked at the Hero, who was throwing two Nomu against the wall with tremendous force. He had no way to get close and touch him, or the UA boy. None of his companions had the strength to help him subdue the Symbol of Peace.

He didn't have the strength.

The rage he had tried to control all this time resurfaced, filling his chest with malicious intentions. His blood boiled, his palms itched, his eyes fixed on the bright, heroic figure slowly shifting to a closer, easier target to unleash that anger.

Toga Himiko, still lying on the floor, dragged aside by the previous shockwave and with life escaping her slightly open mouth and pierced throat.

Yes, she had betrayed, sold out, and reported them. There was no other explanation, nothing else made sense.

That's why she insisted on taking care of Sero Hanta herself. It wasn't to torture him and have fun, it was to protect him from death. That's why All Might wanted to save her life. It wasn't because of his heroism and goodwill, but because she was an infiltrator.

Tomura's already twisted mind traced imaginary schemes to justify his actions as he took another step closer to the blonde girl. His hand now burned with the desire to touch something and disintegrate it, to erase it from existence.

He couldn't get the boy; he was protected. He couldn't get the Hero; he was too strong. He couldn't get his subordinates; they would rebel. He couldn't get the Nomu; they felt nothing.

His only option for venting was Toga Himiko. At least if he could—

—Don't you dare!— All Might roared, appearing in front of Tomura in a blinding flash of speed.

The Hero's large hand shook like a steel whip, slapping him so hard that his teeth rattled and his head snapped around abruptly, almost breaking his neck from the sudden change in direction.

His Father's hand flew off, getting lost in some corner of the room. But Tomura had no time to rage or destabilize.

He flew off too, a stream of blood and saliva escaping his mouth, his eyes almost completely rolled back. He only managed to stay conscious because of the impact against the wall, which knocked the air out of his lungs and forced him back to his senses, barely.

—I'll be back, so don't move!— All Might barked, holding Toga Himiko in his arms and delivering a devastating kick to the air for no apparent reason.

However, a powerful shockwave shot upwards, tearing through the floor above and the ceiling of the base in an explosion of debris.

Tomura was barely recovering from the hard blow when the Hero escaped through the hole, taking the traitor and the most valuable hostage without him being able to put up any resistance.

Bitterness, contempt, and helplessness added to the rage in his chest, threatening to make him explode at the slightest provocation. He looked with bloodshot eyes at the dozen remaining Nomu and the members of the League who were getting up with visible difficulty.

—...I... I won't let this go— Tomura muttered, his shaky tone flashing more madness than anything else. He turned to everyone around him, a grimace twisting his features.

—This won't stand!— he barked disdainfully, walking furiously towards one of the Nomu and jumping onto its back. —They will pay for this affront. I don't care if they are Heroes, civilians, or a damn dog in the street, everyone will pay!

Following his declaration, the Nomu he was riding prepared itself and took a great leap, closely followed by the others.

Dabi looked with a sneer at the gang of monsters emerging, dusting off his clothes with a sigh before igniting his flames and propelling himself rapidly upwards.

If they were going to have a massacre, he wasn't going to miss it.

—...And how do we get up?— Magne asked awkwardly, holding an injured arm.

Things went better than expected, in Tetsumaru's opinion.

He had spent more chakra than he would have liked given the monumental task of spreading his sand so far to locate Ragdoll first, and the multiple occasions he was forced to form Rasengan afterward.

Down below, police officers were cordoning off the area where he cleared the entrance to the dungeon, with slight support from local Heroes, while two teams of those same Heroes ensured that the dead monsters stayed truly dead.

Having completed his task, Aizawa demanded that Tetsumaru leave, but the shinobi insisted on remaining alert in case anything else happened. The man couldn't argue against it, recalling the ease with which Tetsumaru handled the Nomu once he could use his Satetsu again.

—But we will remain next to a Team of Professionals— the Sensei had ruled, and Tetsumaru couldn't refuse.

So here they were, Eraser Head and Midnight keeping watch over what was happening at the Villain base, while the shinobi stayed a couple of buildings back receiving treatment from the motley crew that had helped him in the previous fight.

—Um, I'm sorry, but I don't need you to take off... You know...— muttered a young woman with bluish hair and a beautiful face, wearing a tight synthetic suit that looked more like gym clothes than a Hero costume.

Tetsumaru nodded distractedly, unzipping his tunic and removing it from the left side of his body so the woman could treat his wound.

She stared intently for a few seconds, blinking in confusion at the sight.

The other members of the group also took a look, which finally caught the shinobi's attention.

—What?— Tetsumaru asked in his flat tone.

—Tetsumaru-Kun, what is that thing?— asked the guy in the red and green suit, pointing to the tight suit Tetsumaru wore under the tunic, to which a completely black tube was adhered right next to the wound.

—Just Tetsumaru— the shinobi clarified, as was his custom. —And this is part of my equipment. A Support Course classmate helped with the manufacturing.

—D-did this thing withstand a Nomu's punch?— questioned the woman tending to him, poking the surprisingly flexible tube with her finger.

—Well, yes. It has to be resistant to handle the tension when I move— Tetsumaru replied calmly, but that only confused the Heroes more.

Before they could ask more, a sudden explosion shattered the roof of the building All Might had entered, drawing all eyes in that direction.

Eraser Head and Midnight prepared themselves, while the lesser Heroes surrounded Tetsumaru, despite the shinobi's superior combat skill compared to theirs.

Of those present, only the UA Sensei and Tetsumaru noticed the colorful blur of movement that shot out of the dust cloud, traveling at a ridiculous speed to another point in the city.

—...What just happened?— muttered the local Hero named Traffic Warden.

—All Might probably recovered the hostages, and since he didn't come with Midnight and Eraser Head-Sensei, it's possible that one or both are injured— Tetsumaru analyzed out loud, pointing in the direction the Hero shot off to.

—That makes sense. The hospital is in that direction— Traffic Warden nodded with a sigh of relief.

Barely ten seconds later, Aizawa's voice crackled in their ears with a severe tone.

—Get ready, the League of Villains has decided to come out!
