Chapter 33 - Chapter: The Bone Dragon

Chapter: The Bone Dragon

The cold Snow-Capped Mountains—snow fluttering, north wind howling.

Relying on the Snow-Capped Mountains that stretched for thousands of miles, the Black Sun Empire had built high walls, fortresses, and other fortifications along the ridges.

All fortifications were engraved with defensive magic arrays.

The dense defensive magic arrays overlapped each other, making the fortifications virtually indestructible—enough to resist invasion from the northern demons.

Ordinary physical and magic attacks were ineffective against the Northern Fortress's fortifications.

However, the demons had just used an extremely powerful disposable magic item to penetrate a section of the Northern Fortress's fortifications.

A large number of demon soldiers and undead monsters poured in through that damaged section.

General Barney, supreme commander of the Northern Fortress, personally went to the breach to oversee the battle.

"First, notify all troops to drive the demons out past the border and repair the fortifications as soon as possible."

"Second, notify the magic envoys to engrave defensive magic arrays on the newly built fortifications as quickly as possible."

After the two orders were issued, the Northern Fortress defenders clashed with the demon soldiers who rushed through. The flash of swords and shouts of battle shook the sky. Flames and ice interwove. Shockwaves generated by magic exploded across the battlefield...

In just half an hour, the Snow-Capped Mountains were littered with corpses.

The blood of humans and demons mixed, dyeing the snow on the mountains red.

Though most of the demons were annihilated by the defenders, a small number still fled into Black Sun Empire territory.

Bailu Town.

Cheng Yu had used fly-swatting magic to kill over twenty demon flying cavalrymen.

Mina dragged the Black Shadow Crow corpses and stuffed them into the ice cellar. She kicked them a couple times to pack them tight. "Cheng Yu, the ice cellar can't hold any more."

"If the ice cellar can't hold more, put them outside and sprinkle water on them."

These demons were so enthusiastic—they'd sent so many high-quality ingredients!

Can't finish them! Can't finish them at all!

Mina followed Cheng Yu's instructions. She drew a bucket of water from the manor well and sprinkled it on the Black Shadow Crow corpses.

After several Black Shadow Crow corpses were completely soaked, Cheng Yu used first-tier magic—low-level freezing—to freeze them solid.

"That should work."

Black Shadow Crow meat was delicious and tender—better than pork.

Thud~ Thud~ Thud~

The ground trembled slightly. Heavy footsteps echoed from deep in the woods.

Cheng Yu turned his head and glanced at the woods, excitement flickering in his eyes. New ingredients!

This time it might be a big one. Mina gripped the hilt of her sword tightly. When in danger, the sword was a warrior's best partner. She stared toward the woods.

Heavy footsteps approached. A bone dragon over ten meters long burst out of the woods and appeared at the edge of the farm.

The bone dragon had no flesh or blood on its body—just a skeleton. Red light flashed in its empty eye sockets.

This thing was an undead monster formed from a dragon's skeleton after death. It had extremely high physical and magic resistance. Evil and cruel.

It wasn't clear how strong this bone dragon was.

Cheng Yu didn't dare act rashly.

To be cautious, he'd use fly-swatting magic to test its strength from range.

If he could beat it, he'd strike hard.

If he couldn't, he'd run.

Magic power began condensing in Cheng Yu's palm. A palm-sized magic array constructed itself in his hand. He raised his hand and slapped toward the bone dragon's head with a massive strike.

A huge force acted on the bone dragon's head from a distance. The bone dragon's massive body—over ten meters long—was knocked to the ground by the slap.

This bone dragon was clearly stronger than the previous Black Shadow Crows. After being hit by the massive slap, its head didn't explode—only a few slight cracks appeared on the skull.

The bone dragon rose from the ground. The red light in its empty eye sockets intensified. It stepped forward on two bone legs and rushed toward the manor.

"Cheng Yu, it's coming! What should we do?"

It was the first time seeing this kind of monster. Ivennie, who'd never experienced battle, was a bit scared.

"What should we do? I want to drink bone soup today!"

Through the test slap just now, Cheng Yu knew this bone dragon looked cool and impressive but was actually strong on the outside and weak on the inside. He could handle it.

He pulled out the Dragon-Pattern Golden Knife and rushed toward the bone dragon at the edge of the farmland.

There were many crops in the farmland. Cheng Yu didn't want to see this bone dragon trample them.

Mina followed Cheng Yu with her greatsword.

Ivennie didn't follow. She was a mage and didn't have the melee capabilities of Cheng Yu and Mina. She was better suited for long-range casting support.

"Take my flying kick!"

Like a sprinter on a sports field, Cheng Yu swung his arms, took a short run, and when he rushed in front of the bone dragon, he jumped five or six meters into the air and kicked the bone dragon in the head.

Enormous power struck.

The bone dragon was kicked back over ten meters by Cheng Yu. A long crack appeared on its head.

Steadying itself, the bone dragon lunged at Cheng Yu and Mina again, swinging its dragon claws to attack.

With flexible movements, Mina dodged the bone dragon's claw attack. Gripping the hilt of her greatsword with both hands, she spun 360 degrees, using the power of her waist, and slashed at the bone dragon's skeletal frame with all her strength.

Mina was only a first-tier warrior.

This little power didn't hurt the bone dragon much.

In addition to dragon claws, the bone dragon also had a pair of white bone wings.

The bone wings flapped forward, blowing Mina away for a long distance. She crushed a large area of corn stalks.

Cough, cough~

Mina coughed up two mouthfuls of blood. She hadn't expected the bone dragon to be so strong.

Taking advantage of the gap while the bone dragon attacked Mina, Cheng Yu slashed at the bone dragon's leg with his knife.

Crack!

The Dragon-Pattern Golden Knife, blessed by Cheng Yu's strength, had greatly increased destructive power.

The bone dragon's leg bone cracked.

The bone dragon was furious. It kicked Cheng Yu with all its strength, sending him flying back toward the manor.

After kicking Cheng Yu away, the bone dragon attacked Mina in the cornfield again.

"Sister Mina, run!"

Ivennie shouted and quickly released vine magic.

Three green vines as thick as arms grew out from beneath the bone dragon's feet and entangled its body.

Ivennie had released magic without chanting incantations. The vine magic she released wasn't powerful. The bone dragon easily broke the three vines.

Mina took advantage of the gap when the bone dragon broke the vines. She got up and ran.

The bone dragon chased Mina, crossed the farmland, and rushed toward the manor.

Corn stalks fell in pieces.

Charles was drinking under the tree in front of the manor. They were drunk. When they saw a bone dragon suddenly appear, they raised the wine bottle. "Cute dragon, come have a drink!"

The bone dragon was just a skeleton. How could it drink?

It ignored Charles completely, flapped its wings, and blew Charles away.

"Ahhh~"

Accompanied by screams, Charles's body flew in an arc, sailed over the manor roof, and fell into the woods behind the manor—whereabouts unknown.

Cheng Yu had been kicked by the bone dragon just now. His chest felt a bit stuffy, but he wasn't injured. His defense was too high—the bone dragon's kick had failed to penetrate it.

"Mina, throw me your sword!"

"Okay!"

Mina ran over to Cheng Yu and handed him the greatsword.

The bone dragon wasn't very intelligent. Cheng Yu was the biggest threat to it here. It didn't even look at Ivennie and Mina. It rushed directly toward Cheng Yu.

"Little cutie, try Xia Ji's Random Slashing Sword Technique!"

Cheng Yu gripped the greatsword's hilt with both hands and used Xia Ji's Random Slashing Sword Technique—a technique every descendant of the Yellow Emperor instinctively knew. He abandoned defense and attacked the bone dragon like crazy.

Crack~ Crack~ Crack~

With every sword strike, a crisp sound rang out. A crack appeared on the bone dragon.

Because Cheng Yu abandoned defense, the bone dragon's claws and wings also struck him.

His defense was too high. Cheng Yu just felt a little pain but wasn't injured.

After dozens of sword strikes, the bone dragon's bones were fractured in multiple places. Its leg bones were also severed by Cheng Yu, rendering it immobile.

I wonder how this undead bone dragon tastes when used to make bone soup? Cheng Yu was full of anticipation.
