Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Insane Leveling Up, New Word Spirits!

The scene fell silent.

Everyone stared blankly at the portal, momentarily at a loss for words.

Only one enforcement officer, pinned to the ground by his riot shield, remained unaware of what had transpired. He continued wailing frantically.

"Help! Help me!"

But after screaming for what felt like an eternity, he suddenly realized the eerie stillness outside. Slowly, he peered out from beneath the shield.

He discovered the terrifying monster had vanished, and his colleagues all stood with blank expressions, looking as if they'd seen a ghost.

"Wh-what... what happened... where's the monster?"

"It was instantly killed by a teenager..."

"What?!"

Zhou Yaru felt a lump in her throat, the shock in her pupils lingering for a long time.

Now she understood—that boy wasn't ordinary at all. He was a player of Calamity, a true extraordinary being!

If he hadn't been there, who knew how many colleagues would have died...

Thank goodness for him.

And here she was, having scolded him and dragged him away.

Thinking back now, her face burned with embarrassment, leaving her flustered.

"So powerful..."

"Is this the power of an extraordinary being?"

"No!"

The captain shook his head. "I've seen several volunteers. They possess extraordinary abilities too, but none are this powerful! This man is an exception."

"But... why did he enter the teleportation array?" Zhou Ya couldn't help asking.

"Ambition."

The captain's eyes gleamed with admiration. "His primary goal likely isn't protecting others, but making himself stronger first!"

"In the future, only sufficiently powerful extraordinary beings will be able to confront those formidable monsters."

"This world is about to undergo a seismic shift!"

Only then did Zhou Ya realize the implications, nodding. "Should we look into his background, in case we want to recruit him later?"

"No need. We must not hinder their development in any way. They will be the main force safeguarding the world's peace in the future."

......

After passing through the teleportation array, Chen Nian smoothly arrived outside the main city.

Following the convergence of game and reality, Linhai City—where Chen Nian resided—had been divided into four "city gates." Beyond each gate lay regions infested with monsters.

Killing that Level 50 Black-Scaled Tiger had granted him a whopping 100 points of genetic energy!

Level 10!

Upon reaching Level 10, Chen Nian successfully mastered a new Word Spirit.

[Sequence 10: Word Spirit—Flash Lightning]

One of the fundamental Word Spirits, capable of summoning lightning strikes to attack enemies—highly practical.

Simultaneously, his attributes underwent changes.

Name: Chen Nian

Talent: Word Spirit Sage (Unique)

Gene Level: Level 10 (Tier 1)

Constitution: 10 (Affects Strength and Physical Resilience)

Agility: 10 (Affects Speed and Reaction Time)

Supernatural: 10 (Affects all supernatural abilities)

Typically, all talents increase by 1 point across all attributes per level, granting a significant advantage through higher levels.

Chen Nian's task was simple: level up!

"So many Tier 1 monsters!"

Monster auras filled the horizon. He didn't know if they'd respawn after being killed—first come, first served!

They were pure experience points!

Of course, Chen Nian couldn't casually use terrifyingly powerful high-risk words like "Judgment Golden Sword."

First, the cost was enormous—he couldn't afford to use it often.

Second, it risked being recognized by players who knew him from the game.

Especially those fangirls...

Back when he played Calamity, a wealthy fan once offered a million cash bounty for Chen Nian's real-life contact information!

There was no way around it—since he was completely unreachable in the game, many people tried to connect with him in real life.

Later, this price was inflated to tens of millions...

Anyone who could provide Chen Nian's real address, name, appearance, or other details could claim ten million from a wealthy woman—terrifying!

Boys really need to protect themselves online. Being too popular comes with its own dangers!

Fortunately, Chen Nian had always meticulously guarded his information. He even used a virtual IP to go online and invested heavily in the most secure cybersecurity firewall to avoid being exposed.

His greatest fear was that if his identity were revealed, it would utterly destroy his normal real life.

And now, exposure was even more unthinkable. If exposed, at best he'd be fought over by wealthy admirers; at worst, nations might vie for him—or even attempt assassination!

Because in the game, late-game "Nation Wars" would be activated.

Chen Nian's existence would undoubtedly put immense pressure on other nations—he must be eliminated at all costs...

But dwelling on that now was useless. Chen Nian had already begun pulling mobs.

The most efficient way to level up was to pull a wave of monsters and kill them all at once—commonly known as "wave-clearing"!

Goblins, Shadow Wolves, Silverfang Snakes...

All familiar Tier 1 mobs.

Chen Nian sprinted in a circle, drawing over a dozen of them.

Spell—Flash Lightning!

Obscure syllables transformed into thunderbolts that crashed down from the night sky without warning.

BOOM!

The ground shattered into fragments.

Several Level 1 monsters were instantly reduced to ash.

[Genetic Energy +10]

[Genetic Energy +10]

[Genetic Energy +10]...

[Congratulations! You have obtained the equipment "Refined Iron Bracers" (Common)]....

[Congratulations! You have obtained the equipment "Diamond Legguards" (Fine)]

.....

Chen Nian was overjoyed.

Loot drop!

He never expected killing monsters in reality would yield equipment drops, identical to the game's mechanics!

Equipment ranks into seven tiers: Common, Fine, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Divine.

The better the gear, the lower the drop rate!

Killing a group of minor monsters just now actually yielded a Fine-grade item—not bad luck at all!

——————

Steel Wristguards (Common)

Defense: 10

Attack: 0

Attributes: None

Special Effects: None

——————

Golden Steel Greaves (Fine)

Defense: 30

Attack: 0

Attributes: Constitution +5

Special Effects: None

——————

Chen Nian immediately equipped both items.

Equipment seamlessly integrates into current wear without any burden, only adding attributes.

[Defense +40, Constitution +5]

Chen Nian's attribute panel also updated.

Chen Nian: Word Spirit Sage (Unique)

Gene Tier: Tier 1 (Level 14)

Constitution: 19

Agility: 14

Transcendence: 14

Attack Bonus: 0

Defense Bonus: 40

Combat Rating: 8-star

Of course, this so-called combat rating only accounts for current stats and doesn't factor in other elements.

If you were to include Chen Nian's high-tier Word Spirits in the calculation, this combat rating would be impossible to evaluate...

After a brief rest, he opened his phone to check on his classmates' progress.

[So awesome! Just took down a monster and got the "Magician" talent card! Hahahaha]

[Killing monsters drops talents? Real or fake? Doesn't that mean we can all become extraordinary!]

[Waaah, is there a big bro who'll take me monster hunting? I can warm your bed for you later~~~~]

[Big shots, please take me QAQ!]

[Bunch of noobs, I'm already Level 7]

[Holy crap, Level 7? Dude, you're insane! Have you been grinding nonstop? Never seen anyone this high-level]

[Probably the strongest in our school now. Can we be friends? Please?]

Chen Nian stayed silent.

If he'd mentioned he was already Level 14 in the group, his phone would've exploded with messages...
