Simply put, when you are playing a ball, There are 2 things to keep in mind, the line of the ball and the length of tbe ball.
Length of the ball is where the ball is pitching on the ground and line of the ball is where the ball lands after pitching.
If people try and swing the ball without proper positioning, The ball won't comnect well.
So for that reason i suggested, the most basic of tricks.
That being, When you play a shot or defend a ball for that matter, play at the line of the ball one.
and the other being when you play a shot, remember to not let your hands dictate your entire body's momentum.
First let your head fall towards the ball and after which the entire body will follow.
Which will cause better balance in the shot.

Which let to people stupdily trying to block it with their heads.
Some of them were just that stupid.
To evade the swing, they used their bodies to save themselves from getting an edge.

They were good at defence when it came to spinners but... except for that they weren't very technical.
