Chapter 31 - C31

The Third Hokage was visibly shocked.

"To think he possesses chakra of all elemental natures... that kind of talent is utterly extraordinary."

"And to master a jutsu like Chidori after seeing it only once—his learning ability is incredible."

"His chakra reserves are immense as well. It seems he truly might have the potential to reach the heights of the First Hokage."

Kakashi didn't know exactly how powerful the First Hokage had been, but seeing the Third speak with such reverence, he knew it must be beyond imagination—perhaps far greater than even the Third himself.

After all, the Third had said that the First Hokage's techniques could reshape the very landscape. To Kakashi, such power existed only among tailed beasts.

The one most deeply shaken by all this, however, was the Third himself.

Until now, his greatest hopes had been placed in Naruto and Sasuke. That was why he had assigned Kakashi to mentor them both.

Yet to discover that Konoha was hiding another potential genius—one who might even rival the First Hokage—made the Third feel that perhaps the village's revival was near at hand.

Seeing the Hokage's calm expression, Kakashi couldn't help but voice his concern.

"Lord Hokage, before Yoruha gains the ability to protect himself, we shouldn't let his existence draw public attention."

Kakashi feared that other villages—or even factions within the Leaf itself—might target Yoruha.

Though the ninja world was at peace for now, Kakashi had lived through the Third Great Ninja War. He knew very well that other villages would never allow a potential threat to their power to grow within Konoha.

And in Kakashi's estimation, Yoruha might one day reach the level of the Fourth Hokage.

Back then, the Fourth alone had been enough to deter the other villages.

If they learned of Yoruha's existence, they would surely stop at nothing to eliminate him.

Kakashi could not let that happen.

He also knew there were dangers within the village itself—such as Danzō, a man who would never allow someone with that level of potential to exist freely.

In Kakashi's eyes, Danzō's true concern was simply that such a person might one day compete with him for the Hokage's position.

The Third, naturally, understood all this, and nodded.

"I know what you're worried about. I'll leave Yoruha in your care. I hope you can help him grow into a pillar that supports Konoha."

"And more importantly, find out what that power inside him truly is—and help him learn to control it."

The Third had no intention of teaching Yoruha personally.

If he did, it would immediately draw attention to the boy's uniqueness.

Hearing this, Kakashi quietly sighed in relief.

He had feared the Third would summon Yoruha to his side—which would have placed the boy in great danger.

Even if the Third meant no harm, Danzō would never leave him alone.

"All right," the Third said, "go check on him. I still need to deal with the aftermath of tonight's events."

After leaving the Hokage's building, Kakashi went straight to Yoruha's home.

When Kakashi arrived, Yoruha was still unconscious—but his vital signs were stable.

Standing at his bedside, Kakashi sighed softly.

"I told the Third about you. I hope you won't blame me when you wake up."

"The Hokage had already noticed. If I'd tried to keep it secret, he'd only grow more suspicious about whether you pose a threat to the village."

Kakashi smiled bitterly.

He had originally intended to hide everything about Yoruha. Who could have predicted the events of tonight?

Just thinking back to the scale of what had happened, Kakashi still felt a chill run down his spine.

Looking at Yoruha's still-youthful face, he murmured, "I can't fathom how someone your age possesses such terrifying chakra."

"That kind of jutsu's destructive power was on par with a Tailed Beast Bomb. Even Chidori couldn't produce something like that."

"Still, it did resemble a lightning-release technique similar to Chidori... though the lightning was far beyond anything found in nature. Perhaps that's the kind of energy Sage Techniques are meant to wield."

Kakashi suspected that the thunder Yoruha summoned had been caused by his use of senjutsu chakra.

After all, senjutsu chakra was vastly stronger than ordinary chakra.

Kakashi remained at his bedside, silently guarding him.

Meanwhile, Yoruha's consciousness had completely sunk into his inner mental world.

Even he couldn't understand what exactly had happened earlier that night.

"Your chakra reserves have doubled. Your speed has also increased twofold."

That was all he could hear echoing within his consciousness—no explanation of why things had unfolded as they did.

Yoruha pondered quietly. "Could it be because of my chakra? Maybe I released too much. My chakra isn't like normal chakra—it's pure natural energy. Within my body it's stable, but once it leaks out, it probably runs wild."

He was only guessing—but he was right.

The chaos that had erupted that night had been caused entirely by his over-release of chakra, which in turn triggered a rampage of natural energy in the surrounding environment.

The natural energy within Yoruha's body possessed a self-defense instinct. When it sensed danger threatening his life, it instantly absorbed nearby natural energy to form a protective barrier around him—shielding him from the lightning strikes.

Moreover, since the lightning had been created by Yoruha himself, it carried a trace of his will. When the energy exploded, most of it instinctively avoided striking him directly.

Because of that, everything around Yoruha suffered instead.

The thunder's force was released almost entirely into the surrounding ground—devastating everything near him.
