Chapter 5

Holy Moly. They were twins. They were the exact copies of each other except for the fact that they had different colored eyes, and one's reflection couldn't show in a mirror. Blue-eyed boy moved closer, a brow raised.
"She's not a meal," Green-eyed boy added quickly, tapping his twin lightly on the chest as a warning. Blue-eyed boy put his hands into his pockets, and stepped back slowly.
"Reasons, Damien. A mortal in my room, in our dorm, right when I was thinking of feeding?" His voice was smooth, slow and full of confidence, and his eyes never met mine.
His eyes were enchanting.
"She's not a mortal, and not just anybody," Damien said, examining the smashed mirror behind me. I stepped aside, "She's Perez's daughter—Pierce Perez."
Hayden…the blue eyed twin had a second of surprise and a little bit of disbelief flash through his eyes… it was only for that little moment before it was masked with something else, something more like amusement.
He stepped closer again, and held my chin, examining me, while Damien watched us both. I summoned courage and pushed his hand away. Of course, not roughly. That would be asking for a fight I'd lose in a nano second.
"Wow," he drawled, "Perez's daughter right in front of me, unharmed, unprotected. In my dorm, in my room for the whole session." Did I tell you guys he smelt like heaven. I wouldn't know how to describe it, but he smelt like lovers running through a garden of flowers.
"Bro, what's wrong with you? Why being creepy?" Damien asked, pushing Hayden away from me. However, Hayden kept his blue eyes trained on me, a smirk on his pale face.
He spoke, still staring at me, "Let's go shopping, Damien. I've run out of Golden glow," With a final look and smirk at me, he walked out of the room, leaving the door open.
"Did your dad tell you to beware Vampires?" Damien asked, playfully as he headed to the door.
"Definitely," I said, a little breathless. He paused at the door, looked at me, and smiled.
"Keep his warning, pretty," and then he walked out the door.
I dropped straight to the ground, my legs finally realizing they'd been turned to jelly.
My fingers found my chest, feeling it thudding dangerously.
What just happened? Twins! Twins possessing dangerous beauty! What was he saying about this being his room anyway?
I looked around, looking at the books and the guitar, and the neat bed. Did I enter the wrong room?
I turned to the door, about to rise, only for my heart to nearly explode as I saw the naiad leaning against the doorway. When did she arrive?
She was twisting her blue curls around a slim finger.
"What?" I asked gently.
"You're the famous Perez's daughter, who was a rare case, having gotten none of her parents' powers. It makes me wonder if you're actually their daughter. If not for your facial features, I'd have been convinced that yep, you're not theirs," she said, coming in.
I didn't even know what to reply to her.
She sat on the bed, crossing her legs gently, staring at me.
The atmosphere was screaming awkward! Why was she sitting there doing nothing?
"Uh… I think I got the… the wrong room description. This seems to be the blue-eyed twin's room."
She seemed to process my words, "Blue-eyed…" then she burst out laughing, "Oh, Hayden! Uh, no, you didn't get the wrong room description. This is indeed Hay Hay's room."
"Hay hay? So, why did you bring me to Hay Hay's, ah, no, I mean, Hayden's room?"
"He's a weirdo. Apparently, his room isn't enough for him, so he took two rooms. He's probably gonna dislike you more than the rest of us will because you're taking his space."
"Oh," I said softly, feeling even worse.
"Just be careful. Even if he smiles at you, I doubt he means it. Hayden holds grudges. Now, let's get to business. I just got informed that I'm to fill you in on stuff. I don't know why! Heart would have been best for that."
"Who's that?"
"Heart."
"Yeah, I know. I don't know who's heart. Who's heart?"
"The elf."
"Oh. I think I'd like her filling me in too," I said without realizing it. She scoffed, and shot to her feet, walking to me. I stood up quickly.
"What? You just said it too. That you'd want…"
"You hurt me," she whispered, her expression going along with her words. Was she acting, or…?
She took my hands, and no! The whole thing just got 10,000 percent weirder.
"You ripped my heart by choosing her over me," she added, her eyes watering.
"Oh, no, no, I didn't mean it that way! No, definitely no. It wasn't. Don't cry…"
She looked so broken as the tears rolled down her cheeks. What was happening?
Then she suddenly burst into laughter, turning around and clapping.
"You fell for it way too easily!"
Damn. It was an act after all. She's weird, guys.
She continued, "Whatever, let's get you started. You came so late. Mysia Welcome is next tomorrow. How do we get you prepared? They're gonna think I'm the one who's incapable! They're gonna think it's all my fault. I'm not up to the task. There's finally something I can't do…" she began to hyperventilate, as she rushed her words.
Heavens, please! She's crazy. Why's she overreacting?
"Wait, stop, stop, stop! You're going too fast!" I didn't know when I held her arms, looking straight into her blue eyes. She looked at me, and a blush crept onto her cheeks, while the imprint of the blue leaf glowed faintly on her cheeks.
I left her immediately.
She wasn't gay, was she?
"Uh, sorry for touching you. I'm just trying to say I do not understand whatever's going on here. If you could slow down, I would appreciate it very much. So, what's this Mysia Welcome, and why would you be blamed for anything that has to do with me?"
"The principal assigned me to this task because he trusts me. He also knows that my mother and your father were friends. They used to be friends. Don't ask questions, so he wants us to be friends. By the way, that's a no, sweetie. So, the Mysia Welcome Ball is the ball for the Welcome Session. It's also for us who stepped into a new level entirely. All of us here just stepped into Marlé. And I don't know why you're also in Marlé if you've never had any previous education in Mysia. Maybe because you're gonna be too old for lower levels, or maybe they don't care because you don't have any magic or abilities to train anyway."
"What's Marlé?"
"Well, in the human world, you could call it Year one, or level one. Then there's Carlos, Benos, Samfia, and Rena. Rena is the highest class. They're so skilled there, and the boys so hot," she seemed to slip into some daydreaming session.
Then she snapped out of it quickly, "Either way, you're probably the only one in Mysia High, who doesn't have a dress yet."
"And a date," I said, feeling chills race up my spine. I knew no one. What if going without a date was going to put me in some kind of spotlight?
"Oh no, you choose your date at the ball. You get blindfolded, your senses will be dimmed, so you just pick a random person."
" What?"
"And hopefully, your random person doesn't turn out to be your worst regret," her voice dropped, and she came to me, her fingers playing on my neck, "You know, some people went to Mysia Ball, and never returned the same. Some could never speak, never see, never hear, never walk, or…" she whispered her last words,
"Were never found."
