Chapter 15 - The Despair of Other Game Companies

The same thing was happening all over America.

King of Fighters was like a storm, sweeping across North America in a short amount of time.

Now, city streets were plastered with posters of King of Fighters characters. Many businesses were using King of Fighters elements, riding the wave of its popularity to advertise their products.

Americans valued copyright, so using King of Fighters elements meant they had to pay a fee to Xu Dan.

Just from these advertising fees alone, Xu Dan had already paid off his previous debts.

Similarly, just like in his previous life, when he was in middle school and everyone loved to play League of Legends together, now, King of Fighters players were everywhere among the young people in America.

Unlike the era of numerous, diverse online games, the quality of King of Fighters completely surpassed all other games!

Even some super large companies were defeated!

They never thought that one day the market would be dominated by a small studio!

Blizzard Game Company.

It's the largest and most well-established game company in America.

A few months ago, eighty percent of the computer games on the market came from Blizzard.

This market refers to the global market!

The world is vast, and to occupy eighty percent of this huge cake, what kind of profits are we talking about?!

In this era, the gaming industry had just begun to flourish, and it had already made them incredibly rich!

That future profit, with the progress of the times and the development of technology, was unimaginable!

The future world belonged to the virtual world. They were confident that by starting with the gaming industry, they could defeat Stark Industries and become number one in the world within the next decade!

The vision was incredibly beautiful.

The shareholders were incredibly expectant.

But, reality was very cruel.

While they were still gearing up, preparing to launch their next adventure single-player game, before the script was even finished, a masterpiece descended from the heavens!

Mutual learning and mutual 'imitation' within the gaming industry were no secret.

Within Blizzard Game Company, all the technical teams immediately convened a major conference to tackle the issue!

In the main hall, on the stage, a huge screen displayed gameplay footage from King of Fighters.

Watching the dazzling and intricate visuals, the crowd almost thought they were watching a movie!

Whoosh!

As the hall lights came back on, the previously dark 'cinema' transformed into a serious meeting.

Only then did everyone come to their senses.

They were trying to tackle the challenge of King of Fighters!

Unfortunately, everyone fell silent, even the chief engineer presiding over the main platform felt awkward to continue.

Because, those in the tech industry all understood one fact: no one could replicate this game!

Even with the most underhanded methods, they tried to steal the game's data package, but they failed.

They discovered that even the world's most skilled hackers couldn't crack the King of Fighters data package!

'That kind of encryption doesn't exist in this world,' the hacker said.

Blizzard Game Company was also bewildered.

What was going on? Were they aliens?

"Oh, God, this technology only exists in the future! I really can't believe a studio made this. Do they dare to release their developer list?"

The developer list is a small program that many game companies include at the bottom of the game's start screen, introducing some of the developers.

Hearing this, a middle-aged man with a receding hairline nodded in agreement.

He also whispered, "I completely agree with you. If even we can't create it, then no one in the world can!"

"Yes!"

Seemingly displeased by the noise below, Chief Engineer Tom on the main stage coughed slightly.

He was wearing an earpiece, and his voice spread throughout the entire venue.

Everyone wisely shut their mouths.

"Cough, uh, I just heard a fellow here say he's willing to trade ten years of his life for this technology."

"Whoa…"

"Haha, just kidding. If it were me, I'd trade twenty years of my life for this kind of technology!"

"..."

"Actually, when I was at this conference today, I wasn't feeling confident. Because I couldn't resist, I played a round of King of Fighters beforehand, and honestly, it's amazing! My mood at that moment was just like when I received my first game console at twelve years old."

Yes, even the chief engineer of this world's number one game company felt that he, in front of the developers of King of Fighters, was just a twelve-year-old kid!!

How absurd!

Everyone present had reached this level, and they all understood that at this level, the gaps between them were very small!

You understand, and I understand too!

What I can do, you also understand!

It's just that I focus on the details of spell skills, and you focus on the details of warrior skills.

But, the developers of King of Fighters absolutely stood in the realm of gods!

It was as if they used the hand of God to create this masterpiece.

Otherwise, just relying on a cold computer... how could they have created something like this?

That was definitely metaphysics, not science!

"Oh? This lady, you raised your hand, please speak."

"Tom, I'm a planner from Group A. Judging from the game's promotion, it should be a war game, right? A war game is indeed very attractive at the beginning, but as time goes on, the game content will gradually become boring, and it will naturally lose its player base..."

"Beautiful planner, I don't think you've played King of Fighters, have you?"

"Yeah, I haven't played it. No time."

"Oh my, you must be exhausted. I recommend you take three days off to rest properly."

"No, Tom, I think, as the chief engineer, shouldn't you curb your hobby? Is it really okay for you to boost the morale of others while deflating our own?"

On the stage, Tom smiled slightly and said humorously, "If I had just given a grand speech full of inspirational cliches, you would probably be secretly cursing me as an idiot and a moron in your heart, instead of talking to me like this. Wouldn't you agree?"

Tom was indeed humorous, but no one in the audience could laugh.

"Yeah, against an opponent as overwhelmingly dominant as King of Fighters, we don't even have the right to fight. If we keep cheering each other on like this, we might just work ourselves to death without any results!" people thought, understanding each other.

But, are they just going to let King of Fighters snatch away their biggest piece of the pie?

The company couldn't possibly remain silent.

Otherwise, who would support all these employees?
