Lara's POV
Marco deepened the kiss, slow at first, then fierce, as if he had been fighting the urge for far too long and something inside him finally snapped. His lips moved against mine with a need that made my knees weaken even though I was already lying down. His body was solid and warm, every inch of him pressed against me, holding me in a way I had almost forgotten.
My hands slid from his neck to his shoulders, then down his back, feeling the tremble in his muscles as he tried to keep himself under control. It made my heart pound harder, because Marco never trembled. He was the alpha. He was power and strength and command. But with me, in that moment, he felt human. Vulnerable. Unsteady.
He broke the kiss only to breathe, his forehead resting against mine, his breath hot against my lips.
"Lara," he whispered, my name sounding like a prayer he was afraid to say out loud.
