Chapter 197: Kara Zor-El vs. Sinestro

The Duel Begins

On a steep beach along the west coast of the United States.

Linda, wearing a brown tracksuit, her hands shoved into her pockets and her shoulder slightly tilted, stared unhappily at the green light chasing her. Ever since she learned Luke's powers involved green flame, every time she saw something green, she thought of his smirking face, making her mood sour even more.

She might be reckless, but she wasn't stupid. These two were after the Ring, which Luke had just given her yesterday. The fact that the "creditors" showed up today was something even an idiot could figure out.

"Bastard! Scamming me again."

Linda cursed angrily. She thought about taking the Ring off and throwing it into the sea, but she felt a little reluctant. After all, it was the first gift that guy had given her, and it was so pretty...

Forget it. I'll deal with him later.

The "big-hearted" Linda decided to let Luke off the hook for now and, while she was at it, teach this ill-mannered alien a lesson.

"Hey, Red-Skin, what's your name?"

Sinestro spoke solemnly. "Sinestro, from the Green Lantern Corps."

"Green Lantern Corps?" Linda raised an eyebrow, feeling like she'd heard the name somewhere.

Sinestro continued, "Earthling, that Ring is the symbol of the Green Lantern Corps. It absolutely must not fall into the hands of an outsider. I advise you to return it to me."

The girl pouted. "If you want to fight, then fight. Why all the meaningless talk?"

Sinestro inhaled deeply, battle intent igniting in his eyes. Green energy surged behind him, coalescing into the four-armed giant wielding swords of ice and fire.

A chilling and scorching aura twisted together. The giant roared at the sky, radiating boundless menace.

Linda's eyes brightened with excitement.

"Your ability is so interesting! You can actually summon a giant creature."

"It's not a summon; it's a construct."

Giant swords of ice and fire also materialized in Sinestro's hands. He charged forward with the construct, roaring. Six giant swords slashed down at Linda. She did not dodge, simply raising her fair, slender arm.

CLANG!

A sound like striking metal rang out in the air. The invisible shockwave spread outwards, churning the sea below.

The girl's arm was like the toughest shield; the six giant swords struck it, leaving not a single mark.

Sinestro's expression changed slightly. He retreated a few steps, then charged again. The six giant swords slashed wildly, trailing trails of ice and fire, leaving brilliant light and shadow in the sky.

Linda kept her left hand in her pocket, engaging with only her right. Her arm moved so fast it blurred into a curtain of light. No matter how the sword shadows danced, they ultimately landed on her palm.

A large shower of sparks flew into the air, as if two peerless weapons were furiously clashing.

After two minutes of non-stop hacking, Sinestro stopped, his expression extremely grave. This Earthling was strong—unimaginably strong. She was practically a monster.

No wonder the database stated that Earth possessed the power to challenge the Green Lantern Corps.

"Earthling, what is your name?"

I'm not an Earthling! Linda complained internally, but after a moment's thought, she reluctantly replied, "Linda Danvers!"

"I will remember you, Linda Danvers. You are a powerful warrior."

Sinestro took a deep breath, and the energy around him surged wildly, forming a green battlesuit that enveloped his body. At the same time, the four-armed giant behind him began to grow taller.

Six meters... eight meters... ten meters... fifteen meters... twenty meters... thirty meters... forty meters...

It grew taller and bulkier. Four more arms sprouted from its sides, gripping a lightning-flashing sword of thunder and a viscous, decaying sword of poison.

The giant finally stopped growing at a height of fifty meters.

The eight arms spread wide, and it roared up at the sky.

BOOM!

The terrifying sonic blast exploded in mid-air, like a Category 5 hurricane. Water and sand were blasted away, and a huge crater appeared in the ground below.

Linda narrowed her eyes, a spark of battle intent igniting within them.

"Kill!"

Sinestro roared, merging with the giant. All eight giant swords were raised high, and with an aura of utter destruction, they slashed down heavily.

Linda raised her arm.

CLANG!

The air was sucked out, releasing an ear-splitting sonic scream. As the giant sword landed, a figure was sent flying backward like a baseball struck by a sledgehammer, shooting straight toward the sea.

THOOM!

A massive splash erupted on the ocean surface, lingering long before dissipating.

Seconds later, a figure shot out of the sea—it was Kara Zor-El. The sleeve on her right arm was gone, revealing her pale shoulder. Her eyes were narrowed, radiating intense fighting spirit.

"Good power. Now, you taste my fist."

The girl curled her fingers, a milky-white halo appearing around her right arm.

"Sky-Shattering Punch!"

Her right fist shot out, followed by a series of sonic booms. A huge ball of energy tore through the air, striking the giant squarely in the chest.

BOOM!

The energy ball exploded, the terrifying force instantly shredding the giant's energy shell. Sinestro's expression changed dramatically, his face showing disbelief and astonishment.

Such a long distance?

Such a powerful impact?

An energy ball fired from a fist?

How is that possible?

Linda's eyes grew even more heated, like a child who had found a new, exciting toy.

"Take another hit!"

"Sky-Shattering..."

"PUNCH!"

With a fierce shout, the milky-white energy blast turned into a colossal, almost tangible fist.

THUD!

The giant suffered a heavy blow, staggering back thirty meters, its chest nearly pierced through. Red liquid appeared at the corner of Sinestro's mouth. He heard the girl's roar again, and unable to endure any more, he immediately detached from the giant's body, dodging aside at lightning speed.

A milky-white energy blast whistled past, piercing the giant's abdomen and smashing it into the dirt.

The ground shook violently as the terrifying energy shredded everything nearby. Dust flew up, carrying countless debris and flowers that scattered in all directions.

Sinestro was also thrown back, tumbling dozens of times in the dirt pit before stopping. Excruciating pain shot through him as if his organs had shattered. His left arm was useless, and his right was heavily damaged.

I lost!

He lost so quickly, so miserably.

Sinestro had experienced failure before, but never had he felt such choking defeat. His opponent was just a young girl who, relying solely on her small fists, had beaten him until he was defenseless.

Linda landed from the sky, her voice filled with excitement.

"Do you want to keep fighting?"

Sinestro remained silent, a hundred curses rising in his mind. Finally, he conceded,

"The Lantern Ring belongs to the Green Lantern Corps..."

"You lost."

These three simple words crushed Sinestro's last bit of defiance. After a long silence, he hissed, "I will abide by our agreement and stop demanding the Ring from you. However, the Lantern Ring belongs to the Green Lantern Corps, and the Corps has thousands of warriors..."

The meaning was clear: I'm not the only one in the Corps. If you don't want to be constantly besieged, you should return the Ring.

Linda was unconcerned by the veiled threat and said with great enthusiasm,

"That's fantastic! Master always says that martial arts requires real combat. Skill without actual battle experience will never reach its potential. I can't find a suitable opponent on Earth, but your Corps sounds like excellent practice material. Tell them to come! Whether it's one-on-one or a group fight, I'm ready!"

Sinestro: "..."
