Chapter 5 - Salty Blood and a Black Axe

I stepped onto the field trembling, my heart pounding like a war drum, eyes fixed on the fierce, loud-hearted man who greeted me with a grin that stretched from ear to ear. His fiery red spikes and dark red eyes burned with intensity. "Hey, how do you do," he said boldly. "The name's Rex. I'm fighting you with everything I've got don't hold back either." His smile was wild, infectious, a challenge igniting the air between us.

"Very well, Rex," I replied, my voice steady but trembling with fire. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dawnstar. I will fight you with everything I have." The countdown began "1… 2… 3… Begin!"and in an instant, Rex launch his assault, dragging a long golden sword across the battlefield.

Fortunately, Rex is human. I don't need to use magic or aura; I can just fight him with just raw unyielding muscle. I dodged his attack with a smirk, daring to meet his fury head-on.

"Is this the best you've got?" I taunted, feeling a fire ignite within me. "Try harder." He lunged into the air, preparing to strike from above, a wild grin etched on his face.

"Wipe that smirk off your face," he said, falling with all his weight, aiming to crush me from above. I narrowly dodged, my heart racing, and slammed my fist into his stomach. "Not so cocky now," I panted, eyes blazing.

"Ouch that hurts" he groaned, thinking I had bested him. But then, out of nowhere, he pulls a hidden dagger. My reflexes kicked in just in time I dodged the blade, but not before blood dripped down my face, salty and painful. I could taste the iron, and I licked my lips with a bitter smile.

"You've got some guts, don't you?" I whispered fiercely. With a surge of strength, I launched myself forward, fists smashing into his blade until it shattered. "Do you know how much skincare costs, MF? It's not cheap," I snapped, annoyance flickering in my voice.

His eyes widened with disbelief. "You're crazy! Did you just break my sword with your bare hands? What the hell are you?" Rex demanded, his voice shaken.

I grinned through my teeth. "Well, I'm human, of course," I lied, masking the truth.

He chuckled, barely holding back his amusement. "Oh, absolutely... because smashing a sword made of pure silver and gold with your totally human hands is just so easy. I give up. Why bother wasting any more time on this," he said, pretending to be defeated.

The speaker's voice declared me the victor as I retreated, hearts pounding in my chest. Next up was Eris. I sat back and watched her step into the fight against some giant whose name is dark mist.

The fight erupted with a sneer. "Look what we have here one of Lucifer's filthy worshipers,"dark mist spat out with disgust

Eris's voice trembled with fury. "Just because a couple of elves tried to burn the world with a narcissistic god wannabe doesn't mean all are evil or worships him or that we're all to blame. What's your deal, giants? Haven't you forgotten? We elves helped you take down the dragons."

Dark aura flickered around him as he summons his aura weapon a black axe, sneering. "You also carry their blood what makes you so different from those fire-breathing lizards?"

"Enough talking," Eris snapped, fierce. "Let's fight already, you overgrown man-baby!" The countdown began tension thick in the air, ready to explode.
