Chapter 36 - Hiring Ororon — Is This Still Teyvat?!

"Mix Combustion Element into the soil during cultivation?

Um… excuse me, what exactly is the Combustion Element?"

[Waibi Babble] looked confused as he asked the question.

"The Combustion Element is a higher form of Pyro," Liang Chuan explained, stepping forward.

"Both Nata's people and Nata's dragons can store Combustion as an energy reserve—

it's what sustains their Night Soul Enhancement state."

"And what exactly is Night Soul Enhancement?"

"Simply put… it's a kind of buff.

Combustion increases the duration of the enhancement.

That's all you really need to know."

Then Liang Chuan turned to Ororon.

"Combustion as a higher Pyro element—I get it being used for Night Soul states.

But I didn't know it could be used to fertilize land?"

"Yes," Ororon nodded.

"In Nata, lands imbued with Combustion are far more fertile.

Crops like Glowcap Mushroom and Embercore Apple only yield well when grown in Combustion-rich soil.

That's something I learned after years of farming abroad."

"So how do you infuse combustion into the land?"

[Waibi Babble], eyes sparkling with curiosity, raised his hand eagerly.

"You can collect Phlogiston Crystal and set up Combustion Stones around the field," Ororon replied.

"That'll continuously channel Combustion energy into the soil.

But Phlogiston Crystal are rare… and arranging the stones is even harder.

So, a simpler method would be to raise Combustion Honeyworms nearby.

They don't match Combustion Stones in potency, but they do improve the soil.

And with enough of them, the effect can rival proper Combustion fields."

"Then… Could you teach us how to raise these Honeyworms?"

[Waibi Babble] looked at Ororon pleadingly.

"We can pay tuition! As long as it's within what we can manage, we'll do it!"

"There's no need for tuition," Ororon said calmly.

"If you're truly willing to learn, then learn seriously.

Don't just do it for a moment's whim."

He then began explaining the techniques for cultivating Combustion Honeyworms to the gathered players.

Not far away, Citlali—who had just finished closing her shop—stared at the sight in disbelief.

"This… this is the most I've ever seen Ororon talk about!" she gasped.

"The most?" Liang Chuan raised a brow.

"Of course! That guy barely talks to anyone.

The tribe calls him a hermit.

His solitary attitude's been a headache for me for years…

and yet he's chatting away with your Federation people like they're old friends!"

Liang Chuan chuckled. "It's just shared interests.

[Waibi Babble] and the others are talking about farming and insect breeding—right up Ororon's alley.

He's never had the chance to actually teach people before."

"Hmph, listen to you—acting like you know Ororon so well!

Didn't you just meet him today?"

Citlali pouted suspiciously.

"I did my homework before coming here, of course," Liang Chuan said lightly.

"He's your grandson, after all. I figured I should get to know a bit about him in advance."

For some reason, Citlali's cheeks suddenly flushed crimson again.

Liang Chuan blinked.

What did I even say this time?

Her reaction made it look like he'd said something scandalous!

"Hmm? Wait a sec—why did a new contract just pop up in my hand?"

As they were talking, a glowing document appeared in Liang Chuan's grasp.

"[External Agricultural Specialist] Contract?

Is this for Ororon?

Salary's… 10% of the rewards from player base construction tasks.

That's actually pretty generous…"

He turned to Citlali.

"Hey, can you do me a favor? Have your grandson sign this."

"You're hiring Ororon?

That might be tricky…

The boys used to live alone in the wild.

Getting him to stay here with all these Federation people might be impossible."

"Let's at least try. If he refuses, I'll think of something else."

So Liang Chuan pulled Citlali over to Ororon and explained the situation.

To their surprise, Ororon didn't hesitate at all—he signed the contract immediately.

Thus, Ororon officially joined the Fourth Calamity Faction as an Agricultural Specialist!

Citlali stared at him, squinting in disbelief.

"Are you… really Ororon?

Why do you seem like a completely different person today?"

"He probably feels comfortable here," Liang Chuan replied.

"That's why he's willing to stay."

"You're right, Bro Chuan!" a player chimed in, ID tag reading [Thief Guevara].

"Everyone here's talented, friendly, and charming!

No wonder the NPCs love being around us!"

"Scram! Don't bring your ancient memes over here."

Liang Chuan waved him away irritably. But when he glanced at the player's profile, he froze for a second.

Wait a minute—

Were there actually players who picked [Thief] as their class?

The Thief talent skill was [Misdirection]—

which diverted the target's attention to increase the success rate of stealing.

Good grief, Liang Chuan thought. Can't do it in real life, so you came here to live the dream, huh?

"Damn it! [Thief Guevara], give back my wood!

You even steal construction materials?! Have some shame!"

Another player immediately chased after him, almost triggering PK mode.

If others hadn't intervened, one of them would've died right there.

Watching the chaos, Liang Chuan sighed inwardly.

Maybe he should ban evil-leaning professions like Thief or Bandit altogether.

But after thinking about it, he changed his mind.

They might actually have their uses in the future.

And besides—the system itself enforced the faction's code.

At worst, these shady classes might steal from teammates a little,

but if they ever posed a real threat to the Fourth Calamity,

the system would instantly kick them out and ban their accounts.

No traitors allowed in the Fourth Calamity.

Now that Ororon was officially part of the team,

The Masters of the Night-Wind region's development was practically secured.

Citlali could both run her shop and act as the base's guardian,

while Ororon handled all agricultural operations.

With those two around, only beings on the Captain's level could threaten this base now.

Once Liang Chuan confirmed everything was stable,

He used the Bioenergy Terminal to teleport back to the Flower-Feather Clan Base.

As the first player base established in the world,

it had undergone tremendous change over the past two days.

What once had only a Stone Hut, Bioenergy Terminal, and Workbench

was now a sprawling camp with over a hundred tents!

Players had even built communal facilities—

canteens, baths, and toilets—all on their own.

What stunned Liang Chuan most, though…

was that someone had actually set up a Recreation & Card Hall.

Inside, players were happily playing poker and mahjong!

They were treating Teyvat like their second world.

Looking at the bustling, lively camp,

Liang Chuan couldn't help but feel dazed.

Did the Bioenergy Terminal really teleport me back to Teyvat?

Is this… still Teyvat at all?
