Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Those of Different Status

What is one place that has a beautiful beach sight, grand tropical mixed with temperate forest, and a natural landscape of unique and rarity? That is Crystalline Provine and it's Town also known as crystalline. Located at the North and to the east, this very town (a big town) - is a hotspot for onlookers - has provided the perfect find for the best place to live.

Considered to be favorable by many, it is popular due to the numerous reasons. This reasons are that the town stays right at the corner of lovely beach sight that blends beauty and functionality. Workers work near the beach, their business buildings just gleaming a glimpse at the view. Other people see beauty in the landscape and forest as well. A mix of east and west. Black amd white blended together in harmony. Culture like never before.

When days do come to an end, the hours are spent on the beach, going shopping, or exploring the wonders of the land either by mountain climbing or camping. But it's mostly the beach that gets people forget about work and just snooze around, play or swim.

Though that might be the case, this day isn't going to be a good day full of smiles, no, not that anyone is going to experience if they keep on keeping to themselves.

In the sea, a large faint figure swims very deeply, approaching the beach site. Undetectable, the figure isn't seen by anyone. The locals are all too focused on themselves. However, someone does ask a question. Only this is a little girl.

"Mommy what is that in the water?" The little girl asks and points.

The mother approached her daughter. "Merrily I've told you to stay close," the mother scolded. But she didn't listen and insisted.

"But Mommy the fish in the water.....?!" She points as her mother grabs her and carries her.

Upon listening, the mother took notice.

"What? What is that?" She pondered. She didn't know what to say only that she knew who to call for.

"Over here, guys," she shouted to her friends. "Over there," she pointed to where her daughter did so previously. "Do you guys know what it is?"

The group of friends took their stance; they leaned to have a better look. They tried but couldn't make sense. Because they were on a yacht and the distance of observing the figure was far, little came at their response.

"No idea," one said.

"Must just be whale," the other said.

"A whale, that doesn't seem right?" The mother asked. She thought otherwise.

Clueless, a discussion erupted from where they stood. Each one trying to come up with their own explanation.

Talking while not looking, they didn't realize that the figure was fast approaching. What they saw was the bony scales of its back. It surfaced for sometime but returned back to the bottom. Late to see it, the creature was gone.

Though, not gone far... the sea creature is actually diving past the many boats on surface level. Though it can't be told if you see it, the little girl still straped to her mother saw it, going to the direction of the beach. Was the sea creature going to the beach? It is the other way around.

"Mommy look!" The little girl pointed again and said.

"What is it, sweetheart?" She asked. Suddenly, a shadow as big as a building swept across her, thus she turned around and saw what it was.

Without realising it yet, a serpent like sea creature the size of a skyscraper rose to the surface and towered the locals in its height. It had the resembling appearance of a reptilian but alike that of a mammal.

"What is that?!" The mother seemed baffled. And she should. Because when the sea creature rose, halted, it began a roar. Roarghhhhh!

Then from roar, the scene turned to chaos as the sea creature jumped back into the water which caused a shock wave that tanked boats and sea vessels, not to mention locals affected at the beach.

Bmffff!

_______________________________________________________________

In an undisclosed facility that is unknown to the public and tucked away in a remote location that is on land, a man descends staircases and walks in what looks to be a hurried but calm motion. His footsteps sharp and sturdy is heard throughout the facility. Once he is at his desired floor level, the man unlocks a sealed metal door which leads one after the other. There were several of them. Eventually, he came face-to-face with one such door that led him to an enclosed and tightly sealed room. It is room for pressure balance. He stayed in the room for awhile until the light bulb turned from red to green. Granted entry, the man entered to what lie on the othe side.

As the man was out of the pressure room, he walked up to a woman who held a tablet on her hands. He stood just behind her and spoke, "So how goes the procedures?" He said thus knowing full well that the woman would respond.

"It's going as planned," the woman said confidently so to the man as her focus was glued to the tablet.

The man smiled. He folded his arms and looked at the glass panel that is infront of him. What he looked at was no ordinary glass panel. It is absolutely different. The glass panel is of high material. Glass that doesn't break easily or crack easily. It's the type of glass frames used for aquariums, but better and tougher. And speaking of aquarium, that's just what this man is looking at. But not at fishes or your everyday sea loving marine-life! Thats childs play. The level he descended to is submerged in water; not naturally made, but humanely made. The pool of water is part of the facility used for scientific purposes. And like any good secret facility - other than fishies - something entirely different is at play. And that is just what the man is about to see like front row seats to a movie opening of it's first week.

But before all that could happen, a team of three men, on the surface of the pool of water on a wooden boat had to set up their own equipment, making slight adjustments until they could go green. It was just the two of them on the boat. Their other team member dove head first into the water and left the two individuals with ample time to work. Three things the two men had to work with now: communication radios got wet so they had to re-wire to get them working, submersion of communication antennas, and the air pumping machine that wasn't even turned on when the third member made his dive. The air pump machine was the last thing they thought of when they finished the two major priorities.

"Shit!" One of the men said. "The air pump isn't turned on!"

"What?! I thought you turned it on?!" The second man said flabbergasted.

They then jumped through with the workings and turned it on. "How long do you think his been done there?" The second man said.

"I...don't know?" The first man said.

"Shit!" The second man cursed.

Convinced that they might have done the unthinkable and killed their friend at the bottom - and his corpse could rise up to the surface and float lifelessly - they were one step from not freaking out.

It is then radio on the boat crackled. This sound, along the fear of being caught red handed, made the men shiver.

The radio spoke: Come in, Team A do you copy?

The first man took the radio and placed it next to his ear. "Copy," he replied with slight a shake in his tone of voice.

Radio: Are you green?

The first man looked around his shoulder to the right. The other man looked him dead in the eye with the type of expression on his face 'don't do it.' The first man spoke, "Yeah, about that. There has been a complication."

Radio: Complication? What - oh you mean Ben! Don't worry about it, his status is green. You're good.

"What?" The man said eerily surprised.

Radio: Look up.

When the man looked up he saw a small spec in the sky. When he cleared his vision, he realised that it wasn't a spec but a drone.

Radio: We've seen the whole thing. If anything would've gone wrong, we would've done something about it sooner. So team A, are you green?

The first man was blown away. He reacted only as followed. "Yeahhhhh," he said. Then the radio was cut off.

"What they say?" The second man asked.

Happy and rejoiced, but calm, the man said, "We're good to go. Everythings been settled."

~~~~~~~
80-90 meters from the surface, it was now the third member's turn of team A to do his job. He was in the deep. Visibility at the deep was vague but still able. The third member's name is Ben and, currently, he is floating. A long rope like tube connected him to the air pump contraption on the surface, and although turned on sometime ago, he did not move a bit. Still as a leaf, he was in wait for his own decision.
Then little over two minutes, a familiar feel surged through his body. Just that he snapped, his eyes awake. His limbs, like flaps of a fish, he used to maneuver himself around to the rear.
He knew that feeling. It was his senses sharpening. This feeling, was that of a Mynorgier fast approaching.
Back to the observation level where the man and woman were at, a blue dot of the fast approaching Mynorgier is shown on a television screen as well as another dot of Ben. The woman spoke, "Alright folks, it seems that Mynorgier is on its way."
The man nodded. "This just never gets old does it. Getting to see them, it really feels....fantastical!" The man said a little hyperactive.
"Yes, it sure is," the woman said in agreement. She took her eyes away from the tablet and looked the large rectangular glass panel. They waited. It was only a matter of time.
Ben watched his sides. He is prepared for the worse to come. For example Mynorgiers are attracted to a specific type of signal wave. The people of this facility used this signals to communicate with it, feed it, and train it. But for the last couple of months, the Mynorgiers have been acting weirdly enough that these basic signals have been proven futile. The last solution is to use stronger signals. That may be great and all, but there's a catch. Stronger signals can sometimes correlate to danger but in some cases it can also mean food. The larger the prey, the stronger the signal.
But what does this have to do with food and signals you might ask and what not. Well, for it comes for a lot of reasons. Here is something to keep in mind: when the two men above submerged the antenna and actived it only for a brief amount of time before switching it off, the Mynorgier is given the impression right off the bat of a big catch.
That's.....if Ben wasn't underneath the damn antenna! Likely so, Ben will be labelled as such: prey. Close to the proximity where the antenna actived, and the Mynorgier - this creature - is going to consume Ben along the way all in hopes of finding out why the Mynorgier is acting strange.
Fortunately, there is no worry to be brought up. The danger is all part of the plan.
In time, the Mynorgier should show up at any moment. Ben needed only to react, come into contact with the Mynorgier, and proceed as planned. Suddenly Ben felt a sensation tickle his left shoulder. He moved his sight to the left but there was nothing. When he returned to the front, all of a sudden, Mynorgier was a few meters from him. In shock, Ben put all his strength into his flaps and pushed himself to the side just moments from being fish food. He skidded and bumped on the Mynorgier but was out of reach.
Ben turned around and saw the Mynorgier. It was headed to the observational level. The Mynorgier turned around just seconds as if it was going to hit the glass but didn't.
The people in the observational level weren't shocked. This was a common view. To see one still up and bright, and active, means that everything is going as planned.
"Wow that was a close one, thought we'd be done for," the man in charge said kiddly.
And after the man spoke, it was the woman's turn, "Alright Ben, here it comes. You need only to attach the frequency plant near its head. Then we'll take it from here." The woman had a radio comm on her. She was talking to Ben. She was going over the plan with Ben just so as a reminder.
But Ben knew this already. He is an active listener. When told something once, he remembers what he has to do.
Regardless of his character, the stunt they asked of him to do, isn't a piece of a cake. It is dangerous. Out here nowhere near suited for anyone to handle, even when the Mynorgier is moving at an astonishing speed.
That is why they chose him.
Ben isn't your average wannabe diver. He is a skilled person. Someone capable of adaptability. Maneuverability. And flexibility. The perfect candidate for the stunt. And this here stunt isn't his first, more like his hundred count (That's a fact).
As the Mynorgier was about to charge at Ben again, Ben readied a weapon, weilding it as he took it from his hip. Though it wasn't really a weapon. It was more of a tool but also can be called a weapon. It is a hook like knife.
When the Mynorgier charged at Ben this time, he dodged the incoming threat but this time he used the hook to edge himself to body of the Mynorgier. The Mynorgier felt the stab. It moved uncontrollable and raised up to the surface. Still holding on, and Ben didn't lose grip as the moving creature tried to take him off balance.
Meanwhile, the two technicians on board the wooden boat had a light chat with each other.
"So how's been your family doing?" The first technician asked.
"Good good," the second technician answered. He Bob his head as did the first technician. There peace would then come to halt.
PPPFFFFFFFF!!!!! It was the Mynorgier. It rose to the surface, causing splashes of waves towards the boat.
The Mynorgier rose to the peak of its ability to jump. No less than 10 seconds, the Mynorgier was now falling back to the water. Ben held on tight. He felt lighter for, the fresh air vlashing onto his face and looked at the sky, but that was seconds and the Mynorgier is falling.
"You gotta be kidding me!?" The first technician shouted. The two technicians jumped off their boat because the Mynorgier was just near them. They could get have been crushed if not for their quick thinking.
PPPFFFFFFF! The Mynorgier splashed and re-entered the water.
The two technicians however were safe. They swam. Regrettably, in the process they've lost the boat along with their equipment.
The Mynorgier, angered, and moving fast, is now moving away from the facility grounds and trying to escape. Ben had to do it quick. He crawled his way through the body of the Mynorgier, getting closer and closer to the head.
Then, he stopped. Why did he stopp when he is just close to planting the frequency node? The tether. It is the tube like rope that was attached to his mask. It was gone. Ripped from him on re-entry, Ben was losing air. He had to do something.
And he did. Holding it as long as he could, Ben kept on crawling. After reaching the head, he made contact with the Mynorgier's eye. This startled the creature. It moved from side to side, trying so hard. It wanted Ben off.
Ben couldn't handle it any longer. The pain in his body told him to let go. But not before his plan was executed. He took the frequency node from his back and shot it next to its head. The node didn't stab the creature like before. It used succession pumps to glue to the skin. Done, Ben let go not before rubbing the head as though as if he felt sorry for the creature.
Ben reached to his shoulder and pulled a string. This was his inflatable life jacket. The vest on his suit inflated, pushing out and growing. This allowed him to descend up to the surface while also using his legs and hands to swim with more speed.
Ppphhh! Ben gashed. He had reached surface.
He heard a noise from his back. When he turned, he saw a helicopter. This was probably rescue crew.
~~~~~~

The woman turned to the man, "So what brings you here?" She eyed him indifferently.

"Hmmm," he simply brushed. "You've noticed."

"Yes, I do." The woman said. "Normally you'd be up on the first floor doing work. So what changed?"

The man took out his phone out and showed a message notification. "There has been some occurrence happening at Crystalline."

"Crystalline? What's happened??!

"I don't know? For now, we are done for today with the routine checks," he said and straightened his throat.

"Get Ben and the others, we meet at Room 57," he said and walked off.

The woman knew he wasn't kidding. He was the director after all. Anything, he has the power of this entire facility. His words are just and must be followed. The woman watched the screen above. The feed came from the rescue helicopter. They were now rescuing Ben.
