New York, Queens, inside a large car wash.
In the unlit, tightly shut room, only the moon, once ravaged by Hyperspace Hinn and Superman, cast a beam of pure, bright light, providing some visibility.
The demigod Vincent looked at the very weak, green-haired girl lying on the bed, as if he could see the paleness on her fair little face; for some reason, a surge of anger immediately welled up in his heart, and the silver hair behind him, overflowing with destructive divine light, fluttered incessantly.
Guan Luo jumped from Vincent's palm, onto the table beside the bed, and gently licked her paws.
Vincent took a deep breath, walked quickly forward, and said in a deep voice, "Tell me, who hurt you so badly?"
"Stupid little brother..." The green-haired girl on the bed gave him an annoyed look, and said weakly, "You're thinking too much... A character capable of hurting me hasn't appeared in this city yet..."
"Uh." Vincent was stunned for a moment, thinking it wasn't an exaggeration. Polaris's ability strength was too high, and her ability just happened to counter the Superhero in this city, such as Iron Man, Captain America, and others who carried metal on them.
The only one who could pose a threat to Polaris was Hulk, but Hulk had also 'reformed' and publicly joined the Avengers in the Battle of New York.
Guan Luo's mental thoughts entered Vincent's mind:
"Judging by your human body conditions, she should be—having a fever."
Vincent immediately reached out and pushed aside Polaris's green hair. The moment his palm touched the girl's forehead, he immediately felt a distinct burning sensation, and there wasn't a single drop of sweat on the skin surface, as if he were touching a piece of metal forged in flames.
This temperature was much higher than a normal fever; an ordinary person would have long since lost their life!
"You have a fever, I'll take you to the hospital." Vincent stretched out his hands towards the girl, wanting to pick her up. However, Polaris struggled a little and pushed Vincent's palm away with her soft, weak little hand.
Vincent frowned, understanding her meaning: "You don't want to go to the hospital?"
Polaris nodded slightly. After Vincent arrived, her constantly tense spirit seemed to relax a lot, and her small, weak, curled-up body slightly unfolded.
"But your fever is too severe." Vincent's mind stirred, and he pondered, "Are you afraid the hospital will collect your blood and expose the special nature of your physique or genes?"
In this regard, many extraordinary individuals seem to be wary.
For example, Vincent's aunt Diana and childhood friend Gwen, neither of them had ever been to the hospital for a physical examination. This was also due to their physical strength far exceeding that of ordinary people, which meant that first, they were not easily injured, and second, even if they were injured, they would probably be healed before they even reached the hospital.
As for Supergirl Kara's unique Kryptonian physique, even if the hospital drew blood, no matter how sharp the metal needle, it would not be able to pierce the outer skin.
But Polaris Lorna was different; her extraordinary ability lay in the control of magnetism, and her physical strength was not much stronger than that of an ordinary person.
Facing Vincent's question.
Polaris, lying on the bed, nodded, then shook her head, her translucent, pale lips hesitant to speak.
"That's one reason. Are there other reasons why you can't go to the hospital?" A flash of understanding flickered in Vincent's eyes. Just then, Guan Luo's mental thoughts continued to sound: "Someone is coming this way, it's a woman."
In fact, Guan Luo didn't need to remind him.
The demigod Vincent had already heard the crisp sound of high heels coming from the hallway outside the room.
The woman in the outer hallway stopped in front of the closed door, knocked a few times on the wooden door, and asked respectfully, "Boss Polaris, you haven't left the room for half a day, and you haven't eaten dinner. Is there anything you need help with?"
"Could it be that you're not feeling well?" Not hearing a response, the woman continued to ask.
In the dark room.
Vincent narrowed his eyes slightly. This woman, rather than being concerned, seemed to be taking the opportunity to gather information and learn about Polaris's current situation.
At this moment.
Polaris, looking more like a loli than usual, leaned on Vincent, who was sitting by the bed, and managed to sit up with difficulty. After a brief pause, she uttered a cold and strong sentence: "I'm fine, I just don't have much of an appetite today. Don't come over and bother me while I'm sleeping."
"Okay, Boss Polaris." The woman outside the door's heart trembled slightly, and she didn't dare to ask any more questions, quickly clattering away in her high heels.
She waited until the other person had gone downstairs.
Polaris, who had been supported to sit up, had no strength left and directly slumped into Vincent's arms, using him as a mattress.
Even so, the weak Polaris still said proudly, "I'm borrowing your body... No objections, right, little brother?"
"Of course not. Please use it as you wish, Boss."
The demigod Vincent smiled. He reached out and embraced the girl's body, only then suddenly realizing that the always strong and powerful girl's body was actually very light, soft, and petite, appearing even more fragile than Wanda when she had fallen into his arms.
Vincent looked down at the girl's pale and stubborn little face and suddenly said, "As the boss, you're afraid of others seeing your weak side, even your own people, aren't you?"
Polaris nodded silently; this was the biggest reason why she didn't want to go to the hospital, even with a fever.
Vincent fell silent.
Just as he thought when he first met Polaris, for a girl to be the boss of an underground force at such a young age, she must have put in more effort than others.
Now it seemed that the girl's situation was even more difficult than he had imagined.
Even as the boss within a gang, there were always people watching her. When the girl could exert her super abilities, others naturally obeyed obediently. But once they discovered that the girl had lost her abilities, or was sick and weak, some people might take the opportunity to make a move!
So on this night, when her body was at its weakest.
The girl had no one to rely on, so she chose to send that distress message, which to someone as strong and proud as her, seemed a bit shameful.
"Don't worry, everything's fine now."
In the darkness, the young man gently held the girl, like the Sun embracing Polaris: "Because I'm here."
Polaris's hot breath gradually became even. Her soft body lay in Vincent's arms, her brows relaxed in peace as she closed her eyes and fell asleep, but her small hands still clutched his clothes.
"Dad," Polaris suddenly murmured in her sleep.
Vincent felt even more tenderness for the girl.
He asked softly, "Guan Luo, do you have any way to alleviate her condition?"
"Very simple," Guan Luo responded mentally, "I can directly absorb the burning energy from her body."
Vincent was speechless for a moment: "Then why didn't you say so earlier!"
"Isn't this giving you a chance to show off?" Guan Luo responded lazily.
"Hurry up." Vincent held the sleeping girl with one hand and took out a glass jar from his backpack with the other.
After the glass jar was opened, the colorful, one-eyed starfish inside extended one of its starfish claws, gently touching the sleeping Polaris's glabella.
Five seconds later.
Guan Luo retracted her elongated claw. As if she had absorbed a lot of human energy, her volume expanded by a circle, almost cracking the jar.
Vincent reached out and touched Polaris's forehead, feeling a normal, cool temperature; the effect could only be described as instantaneous.
Guan Luo said mentally, "She's fine. However, having so much energy absorbed, her body is still very weak and needs good rest for a day or two."
"Guan Luo." Vincent looked at the starfish in the jar and said with heartfelt emotion, "I know why Batman couldn't bear to part with you."
"You're just too useful!"
Guan Luo: "..."
