Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Times Have Changed

Inside the Amazon Royal Palace.

Diana's beautiful eyes were bright and spirited, naturally meeting the Amazon Queen's gaze, like a female knight with proud, shimmering wings, and not the Princess who was once protected and loved by all Amazons:

"Mother, when I was a child, didn't you say... humans are the most miraculous, powerful, and infinitely potential artifacts created by the gods?"

She paused, and said sincerely: "When I went to the outside world of humans, I was once full of expectation, and then quickly became utterly disappointed in humanity. So, in fact, I exiled myself, choosing to stay in that world to find an answer for my heart."

"Did you find it?" Hippolyta's furrowed brows softened, and she looked at her only daughter with a calm expression.

"Yes, I understood what you said back then." Diana smiled slightly: "Vincent, he is the miracle I chose, and he is also the answer I wanted to find."

Hippolyta was silent for a moment, then asked softly: "Are you so confident in him?"

Diana's heroic brows unfurled like sword edges, and she said earnestly: "It's because I am confident in myself that I made this decision."

She gently held her mother's hand and whispered: "Mother, you won't blame me, will you?"

"How could I?" Hippolyta shook her head and looked at her: "You are my daughter, and no matter what decision you make, I will support you."

But at this moment.

From outside the entrance of the Royal Palace, General Antiope walked in furiously, and as soon as she stepped through the doorway, she said in a deep voice: "I disagree!"

"Antiope." Hippolyta raised her eyes and glanced at her.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!" Antiope knelt on one knee in the palace hall to salute, and then reiterated: "I disagree with Your Highness Diana's choice. She is the Princess of our Amazon tribe, how can she stake everything on a weak and young human!"

"Antiope." Diana was about to speak, but Hippolyta patted the back of her hand and said to Antiope: "You, you still have this fiery temper. Do you remember when Diana was a child?"

Antiope frowned tightly, not knowing what the Queen wanted to say.

Hippolyta recounted softly: "When Diana was little, she loved to secretly watch your and the Amazon warriors' daily training. Out of my love for her, I didn't want her to become a warrior, so I reprimanded her many times and publicly forbade Diana from touching weapons."

"But... in the end, didn't she still secretly run off to train with you?"

"This!" Antiope opened her mouth, wanting to speak but hesitating.

"I think you should be very clear in your heart." Hippolyta said with emotion: "You and I couldn't control Diana when she was little, so how could we control her choices now that she's grown up? You say she's outstanding and exceptional, and now this is the decision she's made, so how can you question her?"

Antiope fell completely silent.

She clenched her fists tightly, then slowly loosened them, and said helplessly: "I, I, respect Your Highness Diana's decision."

And from the moment Amazon Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope no longer objected, no one on Themyscira could question Diana's choice anymore.

This also indicated that Vincent's status and position on Themyscira would rise to the same level as Amazon Princess Diana.

Diana suddenly said: "Antiope, I have one more thing I want to ask of you, it's about Vincent."

Queen Hippolyta was slightly stunned. Entrusting matters concerning Vincent to Antiope, wasn't that a bit unreliable?

Antiope, however, raised an eyebrow and said: "Your Highness Diana, please speak."

Diana said softly: "I want, for Vincent to..."

...In the ancient building.

Vincent, starving and collapsed on the bed in the small dark room, suddenly heard clear footsteps coming from the corridor outside.

Someone's finally here!

Vincent abruptly sat up, and saw the previous female guard hurrying in, holding a set of clothes: "Your Highness, quickly change into these, General Antiope wants to see you!"

"Is it time to eat?" Taking the clothes handed to him by the female guard, Vincent didn't care about anything else and directly took off his upper garment, scaring the female guard who ran out in a panic.

"What's the big deal, it's not like you haven't seen a man before." Vincent grumbled, changed into the given clothes, and walked out of the ancient building.

Emerging from the long, dark corridor of the ancient building.

Vincent, arriving outside the entrance, felt like he was seeing the light of day again. He looked down at the clothes he had just changed into. Hmm, this time it was at least proper men's attire—a brown linen short-sleeved top, and ankle-tied trousers for easy movement, both characteristic of ancient Greek clothing.

It's just that these ankle-tied trousers, they looked as if they had been newly altered and sewn, the threads were all new!

Before Vincent could think further, a series of hooves and neighs sounded ahead, and a troop of female cavalry quickly appeared in front of the ancient building on the cliff edge.

Leading the charge on a black horse was, naturally, General Antiope.

Antiope looked at Vincent at the entrance, whispered a few words to the female guard, and then said to the female cavalry behind her: "Lead a horse for him."

A horse?

Vincent watched as a female cavalry pulled a strong and handsome white horse in front of him, and the corners of his mouth twitched involuntarily.

My Lord, times have changed!

Can't we get some modern means of transportation?

Seeing Antiope and the female knights all looking at him, Vincent could only stare wide-eyed at the nearby white horse.

The female guard seemed to sense his predicament, stepped forward and asked: "Your Highness, would you like help mounting?"

"Then I'll trouble you." Vincent was greatly moved, and then, he flew—

He was directly thrown two or three meters by the female guard, landing on the white horse's back.

The white horse was startled, and carrying Vincent, it furiously moved its four limbs, flying out like an arrow shot from a bow.

"Go!" Antiope kicked her feet, leading the female cavalry to chase after the white horse... The white horse, surrounded by the female cavalry, began to slow its pace. Vincent, still shaken on the saddle, was glad he had managed to grab the reins in time, otherwise he would have been thrown off long ago.

Catching his breath on the white horse, Vincent realized that the female cavalry slowing down was not for his sake, but because they had entered the urban area of Themyscira!

Smooth, wide white flagstone roads wound along the mountain path, with countless white building complexes standing on either side of the road.

As the female cavalry troop led Vincent through the town roads, hundreds and thousands of local residents dressed in white long dresses, and even armed warriors on guard duty at various posts, all came to the roadside to watch Vincent in the center of the troop, with strange looks in their eyes.

Vincent suddenly had a sense of déjà vu, like the first time he visited his partner's home and was surrounded and scrutinized by all the aunts and uncles and other relatives.

This was no longer just a group of relatives, but a tribe, a race!

And that wasn't the main point.

The main point was, everyone who appeared was female! Not a single male!! And there were no elderly women whose beauty had faded!!!

Vincent finally understood why his men's clothing was newly sewn. Because, on this island, men's clothing was not needed.

Themyscira?

It should be renamed the Kingdom of Women!
