Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 I Want to Take You to New York

It was 7:30 AM.

Vincent stood in front of the mirror, watching his pupils change from cat-like slits back to ordinary human brown.

Vincent tried holding a new bar of soap, and it didn't get swallowed by tentacles like last night.

His Flerken ability had finally disappeared.

Vincent breathed a sigh of relief, but it was precisely because of this unexpected incident that he gained a deeper understanding of his ability—Lord of the Retinue.

Twelve hours.

If he directly exchanged fluids with someone of the opposite sex, Vincent would be able to retain their abilities for half a day. Compared to the previous four hours, there was a full three times difference in duration.

Beside him, the sleepy Flerken cub, little orange cat, looked at Vincent in the mirror with a strange expression. In its unique perception, Vincent, who had become 'one of its kind,' had changed back, which was inevitably a bit disappointing.

If it bit him again, would he turn back into one of its kind?

Little orange cat was eager to try.

As if seeing its intention, Vincent sternly warned, "Little orange cat, you can't bite me casually anymore. Otherwise, you'll be punished with no food for a day!"

"Meow~" Little orange cat, in the form of a little orange cat, immediately drooped its ears and wagged its tail, looking dejected.

Aunt Diana had gone out.

Vincent lay half-reclined on the living room sofa, feeling bored yet somewhat pleased.

Too many things had happened in the past few days; he still preferred this relaxed, normal life of an ordinary person.

Whoever wants to save the world can go ahead; he's not a superhero anyway.

Vincent lay there for a while, then simply picked up his phone to scroll through Facebook.

He didn't know until he scrolled... not only was he startled, Vincent was utterly dumbfounded!

He had originally thought that the discussions and topics would gradually die down in a day or two.

Unexpectedly, the heat of the Washington battle zone incident from the past two days had continuously escalated online, with overwhelming targeted news reports, subtly turning into an astonishing level of national discussion! Many people even took his cross-dressing battle videos, mostly showing his back, and turned screenshots into various avatars, covers, or emoji packs!

Vincent held his breath, watched, and after a long time, exhaled, "Oh my god."

The only thing worth being thankful for was that Vincent had not exposed his true identity that night. He had seen the live videos circulating online and in news reports; they were either too far away and blurry, or only showed his back.

No one knew that the new superhero, Silver-Haired Goddess, who had slayed the monster Abomination, was actually an ordinary middle school student, and male.

The only ones who knew the truth were Aunt Diana, Spider-Woman, and the deceased Abomination.

However.

Looking at his cross-dressing photos filling every corner of the internet, Vincent's toes almost dug a hole in the sofa.

What's a major social death scene? This is it!

Vincent quickly opened Twitter, a commonly used online communication platform.

When he saw the almost identical posts from his classmates on Twitter, such as "I want to be the sword held by the Silver-Haired Goddess" and "Publicly announcing, I am a fan of the Silver-Haired Goddess," his last bit of hope was completely shattered.

Also, what the hell was his classmate's comment, "I want to be stepped on by her"?

Oh, and a male teacher from his homeroom silently changed his Twitter avatar to Vincent's cross-dressing photo, subtly expressing admiration.

Vincent's mouth twitched.

It's hopeless, this world is hopeless!

He started considering destroying the world, or maybe moving to another planet!

Vincent looked utterly resigned.

Just then, a private message suddenly popped up on Twitter.

Vincent slumped on the sofa, opening it weakly.

Gwen: "What are you doing?"

Vincent: "In self-isolation."

Gwen: "???"

She quickly sent a second message: "Alright, I'm not mad at you anymore."

Vincent was speechless; he still didn't know why she was angry this morning.

Gwen: "But, you have to promise me one thing!"

Vincent: "What is it?"

"Come with me to New York."

"New York?" Vincent was stunned.

The cities of Washington and New York are not very far apart, with a straight-line distance of only three to four hundred kilometers. With convenient transportation like trains and buses, it's possible to arrive in as little as three hours.

But they are different cities, after all. Even for shopping, it's unlikely to go that far, right?

Vincent: "Are you going there to buy things?"

Gwen: "Of course not! Have you forgotten? At the end of this semester, which is next January, our class will organize a group trip. The class advisor has already set New York as the travel city, and as class president, I want to go there during the current holiday to plan the route and such."

Fearing Vincent might refuse, Gwen quickly added, "You know, it's not very safe for a girl to travel alone..."

"Alright," Vincent agreed.

Gwen: "Then it's today. We'll meet at the train station at ten o'clock! Early to go, early to return!"

"Today, huh?" Vincent frowned. He had thought Gwen would go after Christmas, but she had set it before Christmas.

But it made sense. Christmas Day and the following few days are for family gatherings, so it's not good to travel far.

Thinking of this.

Vincent was about to get up from the sofa to prepare for the trip when another private message came in on Twitter.

This time, it wasn't from Gwen.

Kara: "Good morning, senior."

It was the junior he had just added yesterday, Kara Danvers.

"Good morning," Vincent replied. "Sorry, I forgot to reply to you yesterday. I've thought about it carefully, and you are a very good girl, but I have absolutely no experience with dating or relationships, so I can't accept your confession."

Ding, the 'good person' card has been issued.

Vincent breathed a sigh of relief, but before he could put down his phone, another message came from the other side: "Then let's try going on a date!"

A date?

Vincent didn't react.

Before he could reply, Kara's message continued on Twitter: "How about today?"

...At the train station.

Vincent had a bit of a headache.

In front of him, two girls stood opposite each other, naturally Gwen and Kara.

Today, Gwen was still wearing her usual beige jeans, black knee-high boots, and a fitted hooded jacket. Under her bright blonde short hair, she looked both capable and had a rare coolness for a girl. To use the common phrase among students at school, she was an 'A-level cool older sister' type!

As for Kara.

At first glance, both Vincent and Gwen almost didn't recognize her.

Today, Kara wasn't wearing her usual black-rimmed glasses, nor did she have her hair tied up. Her slightly wavy dark blonde hair fell to her shoulders and lower back, revealing a youthful and sweet girlish face when she slightly lifted her head. She wore a pair of white canvas shoes, and despite wearing nothing more than an ordinary jacket and long pants, without much dressing up, her natural beauty still made her a very youthful and pretty sweet-style girl!

The two beautiful girls of different styles standing together immediately attracted the attention of many travelers at the station.

However, when they saw the young man standing between the two girls, all the travelers quickly showed expressions of indignant resentment, as if facing a common enemy.

What a sin!!
