Lana started crying. "These clothes! They are hurting me!"
Both of them went into action. Dobin stood behind her and lifted her up a bit so Sil could help her remove her many layers. Sil had to remove her robe, her jacket, then both her shirts. When he did, wings exploded from the confinement they were subjected to.
What both men observed were two wings on each side. They were silver with green veins. The light glinted off them making them sparkle in the sun. Her head was still down but the men both helped her to her feet, Dobin stayed behind her so he could turn around when the pants came off. He wrapped both arms around her waist and held her while trying not to touch her wings. He didn't know if it would hurt or not and he thought she suffered enough.
Sil quickly removed both of her pair of pants with practiced ease, removing both of the pair of boots as well. He quickly placed her clothing in his bag.
Lana was finally able to stand on her own so Dobin showed her proper respect and turned to post himself as security in case anything else happened. Then he realized the beast crystal from the legendary beast was still there. The other had been collected but this one was exposed when Lana killed it so efficiently. He retrieved it making sure not to look at his sister.
Sil noticed the very light green tinge to her skin was all over her body. Her skin had a soft glisten to it that he found stunning. She didn't grow in height so he reached down and placed his fingers under her chin, lifting her head so he could see what her face now looked like. He didn't even realize he was trembling.
Lana had her eyes closed, afraid of what his reaction would be.
Sil gently glided his fingers up her jawbone. "Open them," he said softy. He stared down into his wife's eyes as if he had never seen them before. They were still blue but now there was a green halo around the outside of the blue. He wondered if they would glow green more often now. Her eye lashes looked as though they had glitter on them. Since she never wore makeup, he knew this was a new natural for her.
Sil's breath caught in his chest as he took in the view. His wife was beautiful before but she was now radiant. It was like she had a new energy, filled with life even more. He got another shock, though. He no longer felt her plant ability. He felt a beast tamer ability.
"Lana, check your plant ability."
She nodded and vines covered her body in stage 1 armor.
"Interesting…" he looked at her thoughtfully, "I can't feel your plant ability anymore. It's the Bree ability now but I can't copy it still."
Lana nodded and thought. "I wonder if Plant Master isn't an ability but a species skill… If so, it means I turned the girls into my species as Quinn did to create vampires. Kattie taught me a few things about beast communication because of Caser so I may have picked up her ability as a result."
"But the watch at school…"
"Maybe it interpreted my magic, or whatever, as MC? The watch couldn't detect vampire MC at all so maybe it got confused by me."
Dobin stood behind her listening to them talk. He now had so many questions. He honestly never cared about learning where they came from. They had survived growing up in hell and now had a good life. A quest like that could bring it all down. But now… His resolve was now to help her on this quest. Where did they come from? Was he going to sprout wings at some point?
As they started walking back, Sil holding his wife's hand, afraid she'd fly away, Dobin asked his sister for further speculation.
"Lana, why did the watch work for me but not for you? Are we not the same species?"
"That's an interesting question." She stayed silent for a few minutes.
"Any ideas?"
Lana shrugged, "my initial thought is you were not born with a species magic, or whatever, as I was, so the watch was confused by me but you had no energy at all. Since I evolved, there could be potential for you to evolve as well. Maybe even develop a species magic upon doing so?"
Dobin nodded. "The real question is… Will we ever have the actual answers to these questions or will it remain speculation."
Lana nodded, "What I can tell you is all my senses are heightened. I could feel Caser's worry so I'm also wondering, if I had the Beast Tamer ability all this time, was it being blocked partially because I wasn't in this form or does this form have a higher level of beast affinity?"
"Or, it could have been leveling up all this time but not very fast because you only practiced it on Caser without realizing you were using an ability." Sil added.
"The voice said we are the Fey of Nordash… Have either of you ever heard of this?"
Dobin and Sil both shook their heads.
They made it almost to the shelter when Lana slowed a bit. "Sil…"
He cut her off. "I still love you. You are still my wife. You are still you. Just the outside package has become more colorful," he smiled down at her.
Lana chuckled, "why couldn't I have gained a few inches like Quinn so I wouldn't strain my neck looking up at you…"
Sil and Dobin both laughed, both being tall. Dobin even gained 3 inches in the year at school making him 2 inches taller than Sil at 6'3".
While they laughed, Lana flapped her wings and went up into the air. She wrapped her arms around Sil's neck and kissed him. "I love you, too." She leaned toward his ear that was on the opposite side so Dobin wouldn't hear, "I can smell… you…" and she giggled.
She kissed him again then realized she was still carrying her sword and it still had blood in it. It was full when she hit the beast but it was almost empty now. It cut through the legendary tier beast like butter while it was full but acted like a regular sword before there was blood. This told her she should hit something with it and see if the blood decreased, not wanting to sheath it while the blood remained.
Lana let go of Sil and flew up then raced toward the ground to stab it. It went in like butter once again. She went to pull it back out and it wouldn't budge. She put a foot on either side and pulled with all her might. Sil and Dobin looked at each other and chuckled. Dobin stepped up to the plate and also was unable to. Sil did the same and still no luck.
"Sorry…" Lana said.
They both laughed because she looked cute, which she didn't appreciate. Dobin used his earth ability to soften the ground and Lana was able to retrieve her sword.
They were now standing outside the dome. Lana stood between the men and they entered, Dobin first.
