Chapter 3 - Red.

I went into my office after standing outside for a while, still trying to understand his behavior.

The most outstanding piece of furniture there was the circular table we called the Survey Table.

We used it to check for any intergalactic problems from other planets. Etched with ancient carvings, it was always a lovely sight to behold.

I sat in my special corner beside the Docmentobe, a mystical entity that, when one puts their hand through, produces a book of whatever they need.

Almost like a portal of never‑ending knowledge.

I placed my hand through it and said, "Hello, Docmentobe. It's been a while. Well, I did use you yesterday, but that's not the point.

I'd like a book about other Chanclins who could see the truth through people, apart from those with mind control. Thank you."

As I finished speaking, a chrome‑yellow light formed before me, accompanied by red flashes in the shape of... um, what the...

Pixels? Quite a choice.

The book that materialized was titled: PIXEL: THE CHANCLIN OF HONESTY.

My eyes lit up.

Was I holding a biography of the Pixel?! One of the greatest Chanclins to have ever lived? This was truly an honor.

Pixel was the first female Chanclin and by far the greatest.

She had only one power, but it was incredibly potent. Her ability was called "non‑incognito", or more simply, lie detection. She refined it to such extraordinary levels that she could deduce the truth in ways few could imagine.

I once heard of the time she interrogated a rogue Queneer who had mastered the power of concealment. The Concealment ability allows one to hide anything they desire

It takes immense skill to see through it.

Pixel was summoned that day to question him about the disappearance of a sacred monument.

She looked him straight in the eyes and said, "Queneer, the monument was taken by you, right? True. The real question is where it lies. All I need you to do, kind sir, is move your body into the position you were in when you hid it."

He laughed and replied, feeling confident about his ability. "Pixel, as much as I respect you, this is dumb. I didn't take it but, hey, I'll comply. This will be fun to watch".

He did.

Pixel then turned to the other Queneers present and said, "He's hidden it in his house, behind a mural. Press the shiniest piece and then the dullest piece. I rest my confirmation."

And she was right. Of course she was. Such a rare power but undeniably useful.

I was just about to open the book when Atarah came running in, looking… invisible? Well, except for her seemingly floating head.

I stared at her as she tried to catch her breath, my mind repeating the same thought: My friends are incomprehensible.

Y'all gifted with powers to protect and serve the people of Earithanalos from dangers beyond our perimeter and yet you're using them for stupidity?

What the smudge? Why do I even know you guys?

If I were anything like you all, I'd have used my atomizing ability to split you back into your very first cells.

I snapped out of it when Atarah finally calmed down. I asked, without taking my eyes off the book — since drama was her natural language — "What is it, T?"

She caught her breath and blurted out, "Desan is using his power!"

I froze, then quickly masked my reaction. "What color was he? Did you see? If blue, then we don't need to—"

"He was RED! And so was his aura!" she interrupted.

I stood up sharply, alarmed. "Serious?"
