Chapter 113 Cohen is About to Arrive at the Chamber of Secrets
"It could also be some other magical creature with scales," Cohen said. "But it didn't bite me. Maybe it's just someone else's pet that got lost."
Harry looked at Cohen with some doubt, but didn't say anything more.
Some things could be discussed during the day.
This farce lasted for half an hour, and everyone went back to sleep after locking the door—thanks to Cohen casting a locking charm, otherwise they probably wouldn't have been able to sleep.
Nobody wanted such a creature in their bed.
The next day, after reuniting with Hermione, Harry gathered them together to discuss what had happened in the early morning.
"We should tell Professor McGonagall," Hermione said worriedly. "And you heard it speak?"
"Yes, it seemed to say 'Here,' waking Cohen and me," Harry said. "It can talk like the Earl?"
"And it says 'Come to the Chamber of Secrets,' but it's completely different from the Earl. The Earl wouldn't dare crawl into my bed," Cohen said fiercely. "And the Earl doesn't have scales."
"It could also be Norbert," Ron joked.
"This isn't funny at all, it's dangerous!" Hermione said worriedly. "If it's the same guy who attacked Filch and Mrs. Norris, Cohen might be next!"
"But it didn't bite Cohen at all!" Harry asked, puzzled. "If it really wanted to attack Cohen, it could have just attacked him while he was asleep, but it just told us to go to the Chamber of Secrets—could there be some secret…"
"But it didn't consider a crucial issue,"
Ron said .
"We have no idea what the Chamber of Secrets is, where it is, or how to get there—if it really wanted to see you, it could have just chosen a place like the toilet…"
Ron was indeed a genius; the Chamber of Secrets really was in the toilet.
However, Cohen felt that the Basilisk's words were likely only directed at him and probably had nothing to do with Harry, since Harry wasn't one of the androids in that lab.
"But Ron didn't hear any voices, right?" Hermione suddenly asked. "Only Cohen and Harry heard them?"
"I didn't hear anything," Ron shook his head.
"It's like this again..." Hermione frowned. "Hearing voices that others can't hear—especially at a time like this..."
"What would happen?" Harry asked.
"If only we could communicate with it, and it's the monster in the Chamber of Secrets," Cohen continued, "guess who the others would think opened the Chamber of Secrets?"
—To
avoid trouble, they ultimately didn't tell the professors that Harry and Cohen had heard strange voices.
As everyone knows, Hogwarts is the place where secrets are hardest to keep, so even though the professors didn't reveal anything, news of Filch's accident spread like wildfire throughout the school.
Compared to Filch's mishap, everyone was more concerned about the writing on the wall they had seen earlier—everyone had initially thought it was just a cool joke, but now that a human had been attacked, the Chamber of Secrets had become everyone's primary concern.
The mystery of the Chamber of Secrets was solved in the following week's History of Magic class.
Hermione raised the question with Professor Binns, as she hadn't found any information about the Chamber of Secrets in *Hogwarts: A History of the School*.
"My class is History of Magic," Professor Binns said, floating behind the podium in his panting voice. "I study facts, Miss Granger, not myths and legends."
He wasn't keen on discussing this in class.
"Let's continue with our previous topic, in October of that year, a special group of Sardinian wizards—"
But Hermione raised her hand again.
"I'd like to ask, sir, that legends are based on some fact, aren't they?"
Normally, the atmosphere in this classroom was deathly still and sleepy.
But now almost everyone was staring intently at Professor Binns, which put the ghostly professor, who rarely interacted with his students, in a difficult position—
"Alright... alright..."
Professor Binns sighed.
"Let me think… the Chamber of Secrets…"
He recounted the legend of the Chamber of Secrets, about Slytherin and his secret room, and the monster inside that could purify the school.
The students listened more attentively than to the lesson itself—or rather, this was how a proper classroom should be.
"Let me tell you, that thing doesn't exist," Professor Binns corrected at the end. "There is no Chamber of Secrets, and no monster."
The students didn't believe Professor Binns' last words.
After class, Cohen and his three friends walked together toward the Great Hall for lunch.
"I knew Salazar Slytherin was a crazy old lunatic," Ron said angrily. "But I didn't know that the pure-blood theory was his doing. If the Sorting Hat had sorted me into Slytherin, I would have gone straight home without a second thought…"
Hermione's face was grim.
"If we follow Slytherin's logic, the monster in the Chamber of Secrets—would it attack me too?"
"We won't let it hurt you, Hermione," Harry comforted her, but his expression was also troubled.
Harry glanced furtively at Cohen.
Harry remembered that the Sorting Hat was originally supposed to sort him into Slytherin—Cohen said the same was true. Could this have anything to do with the fact that "only the two of them can hear the Slytherin monsters talking"?
But Cohen was preoccupied with his own thoughts.
Should he try opening the Chamber of Secrets again?
Since the basilisk related to him had already extended an invitation, and Harry and the others had learned about the Chamber of Secrets—even if something happened to him in the Chamber, it shouldn't be a big problem.
And since he had basilisk blood… he probably wouldn't be hurt by the basilisk's glare, right?
Otherwise, wouldn't the basilisk kill him if it saw water or a mirror?

Save a basilisk?
One…
Cohen raised an eyebrow.
He clearly sensed there were two, and although their soul strengths were exactly the same, one was obviously the old basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets, and the other was the younger basilisk from the same laboratory as Cohen.
He only needed to save one; it didn't seem too difficult.
As for the flesh golem in the reward… it sounded like some kind of mutated robot, perfect for keeping in a box for chores and for scaring people.
Better than last year's cold, icy staff; aside from being cool to sleep with in the summer, Cohen hadn't found a single use for it.
With his goal set, Cohen was determined to go to the Chamber of Secrets—but this time he wouldn't bring Harry. Harry wouldn't be of much help and was likely to be accidentally injured by the basilisk; Dumbledore might cause trouble for Cohen then.
