Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Miscarriage (II)

She quickly searched for motherwort on her phone and read its description. It promotes blood circulation, reduces bruising, and induces uterine contractions. Pregnant women taking it could potentially cause a miscarriage!

A few days ago, Ofelia has been watching a show that featured a plot about "motherwort." In the show, the female lead, unaware of her early pregnancy, took motherwort and nearly had a miscarriage.

This medicine was available at pharmacies.

Ofelia immediately took out her phone and asked in the delivery group chat: [Does anyone have a remote-controlled drone?]

A delivery guy named "Bells" replied: [I have one. What's up?]

Ofelia quickly added him as a friend and called him. "Hey, handsome, can you do me a favor? Could you go to the pharmacy and buy me two boxes of motherwort? Then I'll give you my address, and you can use your drone to deliver them to my window. Is that okay?"

"Why do you need a drone?" he asked.

Ofelia paused for a moment, then came up with an excuse and laughed awkwardly, "Hehehe... I just want to experience the thrill of drone delivery. I'll transfer you three hundred bucks. Can you get it to me as fast as possible?"

"Sure, no problem," he agreed.

After hanging up, Ofelia sent him her address.

Half an hour later, he called back, saying he was downstairs. Ofelia immediately opened her window. She was on the 8th floor, and as she leaned out, she saw the delivery guy operating the remote-controlled drone, which was slowly ascending. The buzzing drone hovered in front of her window.

Ofelia took the medicine and sent him a voice message, "I've received it. Thank you."

She opened one of the boxes and looked at the four blister packs of motherwort granules, each pack containing twelve pills. The recommended dosage was 3-5 pills at a time.

As she stared at the medicine, she knew that taking too little might not have any effect, but taking too much could be fatal.

A sudden wave of fear washed over her.

Ofelia clenched the pills tightly in her hand, thinking about how she was already being held captive by Daniel. If she went to the Howard Family estate, she feared she would be confined until the day she gave birth.

At this point, she had no choice.

After much hesitation, Ofelia counted out 24 pills, poured herself a large glass of warm water, and nervously held the pills, her hands trembling.

Finally, with a determined bite of her lip, she swallowed the 24 pills in six rounds.

"Ugh~"

The strong taste of the medicine made Ofelia gag. Even though she drank a lot of water, she still felt nauseous and wanted to vomit.

She forced herself to endure the nausea and lay down on the couch, waiting for the medicine to take effect.

For the first few minutes, she only felt nauseous, but it soon passed. However, half an hour later, she began to experience stomach cramps, cold sweats, and dizziness.

But she never saw any bleeding, so she had to endure the pain.

...

Meanwhile, at Long Creek Villa.

Daniel , despite being engaged to Odelia Griffins and having taken her to the Howard Family estate for dinner with the family, still brought her back to Long Creek Villa as night approached.

Odelia felt resentment in her heart but forced herself to remain calm. She asked, "Daniel, we're already engaged. Why do you still bring me back here?" The man's expression was indifferent. "Until we're married, it's best we live separately. It's for your own good since you're a girl."

He had no interest in her.

The only reason he agreed to the engagement was because she was the most suitable candidate to be the future mistress of the Howard Family.

"But we..."

Odelia wanted to say more, but Daniel just looked up and gently patted her head.

"It's getting late. Go get some rest. See you tomorrow."

"Well... okay then."

Feeling a hint of warmth from Daniel, Odelia was already content. "Goodnight, Daniel."

"Goodnight."

He replied.

Odelia didn't get out of the car immediately. She sat there for a few seconds, hoping for a 'goodnight kiss' from Daniel. But instead, he asked, "Is there something else?"

"No."

She shook her head, the disappointment in her eyes fleeting.

She opened the door and got out of the car, waving to Daniel before turning and heading inside.

At that moment, Sutton, the driver, quickly spoke to Daniel. "Boss, the guys monitoring Miss's phone just called. They said she ordered some kind of herbal remedy and had it delivered by drone to her apartment."

"Delivered by drone?"

"Yes."

"How long ago?"

"Over an hour ago. You've been with Miss Griffins the whole time, so I didn't get a chance to tell you."

Daniel sensed something was off. "Head to the Splendid Garden immediately."

"Yes, boss," Sutton replied, starting the car and speeding towards their destination.

Daniel sat in the backseat, a vague sense of unease gnawing at him. "Step on it." Sutton floored the gas pedal, and the car roared down the road.

"Before marrying into the Howard Family, she can never be the 'Young Mistress.'" For some reason, Daniel felt the need to voice this out loud.

Sutton instantly understood. "Got it, boss."

From now on, they would only address her as Miss Griffins, never as 'Young Mistress.'

…..

It was late at night, and the streets of Fortune's City were nearly empty. Sutton drove at full speed, reaching the Splendid Garden in less than half an hour.

Both men got out of the car and entered the estate.

On the 8th floor, six bodyguards stood vigil outside Ofelia's door.

Seeing Daniel approach, they all straightened up. "Boss."

He walked up to Ofelia's door and knocked. "Open up."

By this time, it had been an hour since Ofelia had taken her medication.

The woman lay on the sofa, enduring excruciating pain that felt like knives cutting through her. Her lower abdomen was bleeding heavily.

Ten minutes ago, Ofelia had called 911, anxiously waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

She wanted to terminate the pregnancy but didn't want to die, and she wasn't foolish enough not to call for help.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Ofelia thought it was the paramedics, but when she tried to get up from the couch, she couldn't move.

The knocking grew more urgent.

Daniel, standing outside the door, felt a sudden surge of anxiety. He furrowed his brows. "Ofelia, if you don't open the door, I'm kicking it in."

Inside, there was still no response.

Daniel couldn't wait any longer. He took a step back and kicked the door hard. With a loud bang, the door flew open. He rushed into the living room and saw Ofelia curled up on the couch, clutching her abdomen. Despite the heavy makeup, her pale face and the sweat covering her body were unmistakable. She whimpered in pain.

The off-white couch beneath her was stained with a large, horrifying bloodstain.

Daniel walked over and immediately noticed a box of medicine on the table. The bold letters on it read "Motherwort."

He picked up the box and his eyes fixed on the words "Not for use during pregnancy."

His brow furrowed deeper, and he squeezed the box so hard it deformed.

"Damn it."

Two blister packs on the table were empty. He asked Ofelia, "Did you take all of them?"

"Yes... it hurts... it hurts..." she whimpered.

Ofelia didn't answer Daniel's question. Instead, she let out a soft moan, unable to bear the intense pain in her abdomen. Seeing this, Daniels face turned extremely grim.

This woman, she'd rather risk her life than give birth to his child!

Sutton, who had followed them in, immediately reached for his phone to call 911. But before he could dial, the sound of an ambulance siren blared from downstairs.

Hearing the siren, Ofelia's desire to live surged. She clutched her abdomen with one hand and tried to push herself up from the couch with the other. But just as she managed to lift herself a bit, her arm gave out suddenly. She fell from the couch with a loud thud.
