Chapter 50 - Wolfless Warriors

Chapter 50

The Werewolf Realm

Silver Crest Pack

The war was far more brutal than any of them had expected.

The demons who rushed to the front line realized too late that activating the Dark Forge had been a grave mistake.

Before the forge was used, the werewolves, elves, and vampires fought separately.

But now?

They fought together.

Spells.

Claws.

Arrows.

Swords.

Three races striking at one target with perfect coordination.

The demons hated losing—absolutely despised it—but this time, they had no choice. The united front of the races was overwhelming.

Excitement and confidence filled the warriors. For a moment, they thought they were truly winning… and in the rush of battle, they completely forgot King Johnson's warning:

"We will fake defeat."

They were supposed to lose strategically.

But they forgot.

All of them.

---

Among the five demons who had stepped forward, two were already dead—reduced to dust.

One of the remaining demons, Jyra, growled in frustration.

"I cannot believe this is happening. Our lord will not tolerate this failure. This is going badly. Should we retreat?"

Another demon, Daksha, hissed back,

"Retreat? Without his command? If we return without permission, it means we're defeated."

Devyani crossed her arms, eyes narrowing.

"We are defeated."

"But we can't just—"

Before the demon finished speaking, an ominous sound echoed across the battlefield.

A single trumpeting note.

Deep.

Dark.

Ancient.

A command.

All three demons froze.

Then—like ash scattered by the wind—they vanished.

Crumbled into black dust.

The field went silent.

The races didn't cheer. They didn't celebrate. They simply exhaled in shaky relief.

Because they knew this wasn't over.

This was only a pause.

At least—for now—the demons were gone.

---

The Alpha of Silver Crest began checking on every pack member. Miraculously, many survived. The allied races had fought brilliantly. They had even killed demons—a feat once thought impossible.

But the Alpha could not feel true joy.

Dozens of warriors sat on the ground trembling… hollow… broken.

They had lost their wolves.

Without a wolf, a werewolf wasn't truly a werewolf. They became empty—lost, powerless, trapped in human form forever. Their grief was unbearable to witness.

The Alpha, bruised and bleeding, clenched his fists.

"Take them to the pack doctor," he ordered his beta. "Maybe… maybe there's a way to bring their wolves back."

He knew there wasn't.

But he had to try.

He owed them that much.

Though the demons were gone for today, Roosevelt would not ignore this defeat. The Alpha knew it. The pack felt it. The entire realm sensed it.

Fear spread through the Silver Crest Pack like smoke. No one knew when the next attack would come.

The allied races retreated to the guest rooms to clean up, tending to wounds. The Alpha sent the kitchen staff to bring them food. They needed rest—fighting demons was no small burden.

He turned toward his chambers, exhausted beyond words.

But then—

A portal ripped open before him.

The Alpha stumbled back in shock—this was his first time seeing such magic up close.

King Johnson stepped out first. Michael followed, then Alpha Levi. Erin did not appear—likely because she was the creator of the goldren's,she couldn't risk being recognized.

The Alpha bowed respectfully, though his voice was heavy with fatigue.

"You're all here."

Alpha Levi stepped forward urgently.

"Are they still here?"

"No," the Alpha replied. "They just left."

Levi exhaled.

"And the casualties…?"

The Alpha's jaw tightened.

"We defeated them. For now."

King Johnson and Michael exchanged shocked glances.

"You defeated them?" Johnson repeated. "Roosevelt wasn't with them, then. If he had been, none of you would have survived."

"He wasn't here," the Alpha confirmed. "They demons came alone—trying to create chaos."

King Johnson rubbed his temples in frustration.

"And what happened to our agreement? We were supposed to fake losing. Do you want Roosevelt to release the dragon? Because if he does… none of us can survive it."

The Alpha's composure cracked.

"So you wanted me to lose," he snapped, "when thirty of my strongest warriors lost their wolves?! I'm supposed to watch my men become empty shells?! No! Absolutely not! My pack fought—your races fought—and we killed demons. Do you hear me? We killed them! With nothing but grit and desperation—we made them wither to dust!"

His voice echoed through the halls.

Alpha Levi frowned.

"Wait… what do you mean they lost their wolves?"

The Alpha of Silver Crest inhaled shakily.

"Five strong demons stepped forward. They created a Dark Forge. Anyone in wolf form was paralyzed instantly—and their wolf spirit was killed. Gone forever."

Michael's face hardened.

"That is devastating. How are they?"

"Not well," the Alpha admitted. "They are with the doctor. I don't know if their wolves can be restored. I doubt it. But I have to try."

King Johnson sighed deeply.

"I'm sorry for your losses. I truly am. But listen—defeating Roosevelt's demons will enrage him. This victory may push him to summon the dragon, and trust me… none of us want fire raining from the sky."

Levi groaned.

"I definitely don't want to die like that."

Michael nodded.

"If Roosevelt uses the dragon, we're doomed. We need a better way to lose… while still keeping control."

The Alpha hesitated, then added quietly:

"And… about those five demons… my beta and I killed two."

Silence fell instantly.

"You WHAT?!" King Johnson exploded. "You killed two of them?!"

"Yes," the Alpha said firmly. "They were the ones who created the forge. They harmed my warriors—I wasn't going to let them leave. The strongest elf and the strongest vampire helped me."

Michael looked up sharply.

"Paul? The vampire?"

"Yes. Paul and one of the strongest elves. The wolf in their group died before they reached us. But the three of us managed to kill two demons. It was exhausting… brutal… but we did it, I know it might create a bit of choas from Roosevelt, but we'll manage."

King Johnson stepped back, horrified.

"A bit of chaos? You call this a bit of chaos? Roosevelt will unleash HELL on us for killing two of his prized demons! He's had five of them for centuries! And now you've killed two."

He turned quickly to Levi.

"When we return, summon every Alpha. They must be warned—Roosevelt will come soon."

He opened the portal again.

They stepped through and vanished.

The Alpha of Silver Crest stood alone in his hall, exhaustion pressing heavily on his chest.

One thing was certain…

The death of those demons would ignite Roosevelt's rage.

And now—

the real war was coming.
