The heat of the blade kissed the tip of my throat.
I had to admit. This was not something I think would ever happen on earth. If there was anything that pointed to me being in some other world it was this. This being the flaming sword, the winged angelic woman before me, and the quest that seemed to be ringing inside of both of my ears.
The lady with pure white hair who seemed to be glaring directly at my soul had a regalness about her I don't think any human could possess, and judging from her choice of words, her weaponry, and appearance, I was almost 1000 percent sure she was an angel.
An angel was about to kill me.
Wow, today, I can just tell, was going to be something.
Looking at her. I saw these words float around her in the air, under what appeared to be a name and level.
Slyph Vohaluss
Level 50
Race: ANGEL
What is a human doing here?
Do I have to kill him?
It's a shame he's quite cute for a human.
Maybe I can just scare him off.
Why is he looking at me like he can hear my thoughts?
After that last one, the blade tensed, and I realized I had to speak, or that would be my head.
[Uhh. Nice to meet you.. The name's Solace. Could you not hold a sword to my throat? I find that quite intimidating.]
"What are you doing here human? She spat with a forced venom, clearly she hadn't done this often and was a bit flustered by having to do her job. "Your kind agreed not to step on this land thousands of years ago ever since you signed the accords, yet here you are. Deflying it with your presence."
The words surrounding her changed again.
Why does he sound a bit divine? The only person I know with a tone like his is the old Deus.
[Listen. Slyph is it? I don't mean to be here. One minute I was walking home, and the next, I was standing in this lush greenery. I promise I didn't come here with any sort of foul intentions]
The grip she had on her sword softened just a bit, and soon she started to question the validity of my words. But, that's once she mulled over everything I said, it tightened yet again.
"How… how do you know my true name?"
Oh right… I guess I hadn't asked huh.
Well… there goes subtly.
In that moment. I made the decision.
Dominus: Activation: True Subjection. Target: The Angel Before Me.
QUEST COMPLETE: EXPERIENCE 500
It seemed as though it happened in an instant. A little jingle played in my ears as I watched the life of the person before me seemingly get snuffed out and replaced with a hollowness. As if she was a phone that was just factory reset.
The thoughts that floated around her disappeared, and the stat sheet I had seen before, immediately expanded.

Current Subordinate Mode? Idle
From what the abilities from earlier had explained to me. Now I can kind've just, do what I want huh?
Wait, does this count as murder? Not really right? More like self defense if anything, besides she's still breathing right?
I ran my hand in front of her face.
Yeah still breathing, still alive. Just not going to kill me anymore, and completely incapable of doing anything I don't want…
Okay, so it may be murder, well at least ego death.
Wait. If I can make her do whatever I want.
A thought ran through my head, and I tested the theory as soon as it did.
The life that had seemingly left the person before me seemed to be restored. Though, the blade that had been mere centimeters away from piercing me, was no longer within a threatening distance, in fact, it wasn't even on fire anymore.
The command I had issued was a simple one.
Act how you did before you met me and don't think of bringing me any harm
With my power I can choose to make someone do whatever I want, down to the smallest action so, acting how they always did before they ever met me, it shouldn't be something unobtainable, and low and behold I was right.
Well, I hope, it's not like I had any reference for how she was. But, that doesn't really matter, I'd just rather not interact with a robot of my own making.
Watching as the angel before me seemingly regained her personality, I decided now was time to ask some questions.
[Where are we?]
The wings of the angel softened, and so did her voice as she began to speak.
"We are on the floating island of ga'ea. Home to the keepers of the sword of light, the angel race."
[I see. Why did you try to kill me]
She looked confused, as if she didn't remember what I was referring to. But soon enough, she seemed to connect the dots, at least enough to answer my question.
"Humans aren't allowed here. The last time they were near the sword of light. They almost destroyed civilization across the entire world. They have no right to be near such power, their inferior minds can't comprehend it, and it turns them evil. So even though I don't remember trying to kill you. If I did, it was almost certainly because you're trespassing."
[Oh. So, I'm not supposed to be here, and if any one of your other angel friends saw me, they'd probably try to kill me as well]
"Almost certainly without a doubt. Though they are far less likely to hesitate than I probably was. I'm a newly minted warrior of light. The others patrolling this area are far more experienced and likely to kill without a word."
[So, if you were to fight them, you know to protect me. How would that go]
"I could maybe take out one or two. But, after that, it's a funeral for both me and you."
[I see]
I couldn't control them either. Not if they are as strong as her at least. I had already used up my one ultimate control ability for the month. I could only take control of those weaker than me for as long as it was on cooldown as well.
[Well. What should we do?]
"We?"
[Yes we, I mean, I can't just leave this floating island on my own, and believe it or not. You have to come with me, since you're one of my subordinat- erm, companions]
I honestly couldn't care less if she stayed or not. At least I would've asked, if I didn't have to use my one trump card that I could only use every 30 days just to make sure she didn't kill me. If anything, this is kind of her fault
A wrinkle of sadness seemed to shift on her face. I guess it was the dawn of realization that we'd have to leave her home. At least for now.
We can't have that. I want her to act like herself sure, but, having someone constantly homesick would just make things more difficult on this journey.
Command Alteration: Don't think about leaving as a sad thing, but a good thing. You have to go with me so we can save this land
The sadness that had begun to dawn on her face shifted into something far happier. If I had never seen true pride before, here it was.
"Before we go on this quest. I have to ask, What is your name?"
[Solace. Solace "Solar" Vale. Though I think I should go by something a little more native. Any suggestions?]
"I'm not that familiar with human culture. So any suggestions I could give, they'd only be angelic."
[Well. That has to count for something, go on]
She hesitated, before speaking up.
"Well. Typically a ruler in the angelic realm is known as a Deus. The way you speak kind've reminds me of our current one. As for your surname, maybe you could take mine, that way you can have a truly divine name to explain this odd sense of Divinity I'm gathering from you"
Deus Vohaluss huh? I think I like it.
[Okay, Deus Vohaluss it is.]
With that announcement, a prompt began to float in front of me.
RENAME?
YES OR NO?
With a quickness, I curiously pressed the yes prompt, and felt a weird feeling run over my body.
Opening my stats window I noticed the change almost immediately.
Deus Vohaluss
That was my new name, in this new world.
[Well. I think it's about time we left here. Wouldn't want to have to test that theory huh?]
"My heart does hurt a tad having to leave home. Especially with a pathetic human. But, if it's the only way we can save this land. Then our honor commands it.]
Without another questioning thought. She grabbed me, and the wings that dawned her back. They seemingly activated, and the two of us took flight.
"Brace yourself human. We are headed off the island and to the territory beneath it. The nearest human settlement is about 40km away. I can get us to the ground but after that, we will have to walk the rest of the way due to flight runes."
[Okay, sounds like a plan Slyph]
She tensed after I said her name.
"I must ask human. Try not to say my true name so openly. It may invite other humans to think they can do the same. Which I would only be able to take as a slight. While we are down there, refer to me by the name, Sophia, it's the codename I was assigned, a name humans are allowed to say."
[Hmm, duly noted]
Well, I guess this "quest" can be a little fun. I wonder how Dusk and Dawn would act if they were here instead of me.
