Chapter 8: Zoro, the strongest system to become stronger while sleeping, bound!
Three days later, Luffy in the crow's nest suddenly shouted, "Island ahead! Looks like there's good food!" His rubber neck stretched to an exaggerated length, and his nose twitched incessantly. "I smell roast meat!"
Ron took the binoculars handed to him by Zoro. The lenses reflected a lush island. His pupils slightly constricted—it was clearly the island controlled by Buggy's pirate crew from the original story.
"Let's go around. It's better to gather more crew members first."
Subsequently, the ship chose a route skirting the island ahead, speeding towards the next destination!
Luffy, with a piece of roast meat bigger than his head in his mouth, bounced over to Ron, who was looking at a sea chart. With his cheeks full of food, he mumbled, "Big Brother Ron~"
Ron didn't even lift his head. "If the meat drops on the deck, you'll have two extra hours of training tonight."
Luffy quickly stuffed the slipping roast meat back into his mouth. After swallowing it, he grinned and leaned closer. "That... you see, Zoro is our crewmate now..." He rubbed his hands, his eyes sparkling. "Can you give him a system too? Just like Ace and me!"
Zoro, who was wiping his Heavenly Ghost, looked up at the sound, his brows furrowed. "System? What system?"
Luffy immediately perked up and gesticulated wildly as he explained, "It's Big Brother Ron's ability! He ate the System-System Fruit and can bind super powerful systems to others!" He counted on his fingers, "Big Brother Sabo's is the Pay-to-Win System, Ace's is the Check-in System, and mine is the Choice System..."
Zoro looked at Ron with a bewildered expression. "Vice-Captain, what is this idiot talking about?"
Seeing Zoro's shocked expression, Luffy immediately got excited. He stuffed the rest of the roast meat into his mouth and gesticulated wildly. "Let me tell you, Zoro, this system is incredibly powerful!"
He excitedly patted the railing of the Going Merry. "You see this ship? It's what the system rewarded me with when I chose to beat up Morgan!"
The Heavenly Ghost in Zoro's hand clanged onto the deck. He mechanically turned to look at the three-masted ship. Under the sunlight, the Going Merry exuded the luster of new wood, and the sheep figurehead at the bow was lifelike. It didn't look like it had appeared out of thin air.
"Wait, wait..." Zoro's voice trembled slightly. He bent down to pick up the Moonlight, his fingers unconsciously caressing the mysterious cloud patterns on the blade. "Then this sword..."
"Of course!" Luffy proudly puffed out his chest. "After I chose to beat up that blond bastard, it just 'swish' appeared!" He exaggeratedly spread his arms to demonstrate. "I just don't know if Brother Ron's Heavenly Ghost is..."
Zoro's expression became incredibly rich, first flushing red, then gradually turning pale. He stared intently at the Meito in his hand, then suddenly pinched his thigh hard. "Hiss—" The pain confirmed that he wasn't dreaming.
"This... this is unreasonable..." Zoro's voice was as dry as if he hadn't drunk water for three days. "I've seen many Devil Fruit abilities, but to be able to manifest objects out of thin air..." His worldview was undergoing a violent earthquake. "This has completely exceeded the scope of Devil Fruits, hasn't it?"
Ron leaned against the ship's railing, the sea breeze rustling his robes. He enjoyed Zoro's rare moment of discomposure and slowly explained, "The System-System Fruit is indeed quite special. Strictly speaking, these rewards are not 'created,' but 'transferred' from a certain dimensional space."
"Dimensional space?!" Zoro's jaw almost dropped to the deck.
Luffy completely ignored Zoro's shock and continued to boast excitedly, "The best part is that every choice comes with meat! Last time the system even rewarded me with a self-roasting oven!" He wiped his drool. "Big Brother Ron said there will be more delicious rewards in the future!"
Zoro mechanically turned to look at Ron, his eyes a mix of awe and confusion. "Vice-Captain... what kind of Devil Fruit did you eat? This ability is too..."
"Too much like cheating?" Ron smiled, taking over the conversation, his fingers gently tapping the ship's railing. "That's why I have to be careful when choosing who to bind." His gaze suddenly deepened. "After all, if such power falls into the wrong hands..."
Zoro shivered involuntarily. He looked down at the Heavenly Ghost in his hand, then suddenly bowed and declared, "I swear on my honor as a swordsman that I will never betray this power."
Ron looked at Zoro, whose worldview had just collapsed, and suddenly felt playful. He cleared his throat and said, feigning seriousness, "Zoro, as a welcome ceremony for new crew members, I must bind a unique system to you."
Zoro immediately straightened his back, his three swords slightly trembling at his waist, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Vice-Captain, what kind of system is it?"
A curve appeared at the corner of Ron's mouth. "The one most suitable for you—the Slumber Training System!"
"Slumber... Training System?" Zoro's expression instantly froze.
"That's right!" Ron snapped his fingers, and a light green light screen unfolded before Zoro:
[Slumber Training System · Activated]
[Host: Roronoa Zoro]
[System Trait: Sleeping = Becoming Stronger]
[Current Sleep Level: Rookie (0/100)]
[Today's Sleep Mission: Nap for 1 hour (Reward: Basic Swordsmanship Experience +10%)]
Luffy laughed so hard he doubled over, his rubber body bouncing around on the deck. "Hahahaha! It's perfect for Zoro! He just sleeps all day!"
Zoro's face turned green then white, his sword-wielding hand trembling slightly. "Vice-Captain... are you kidding me?"
Ron shook his head earnestly. "How could I be? This is a tailor-made system." He pointed to the description on the light screen. "Look, you automatically train your swordsmanship while sleeping, you can simulate actual combat in your dreams, and even naps can accumulate experience points." He paused, then added, "And..."
He swiped his finger, and the light screen switched to the advanced page:
[Special Skills]
[Dream Training: Duel with imagined swordsmen in your dreams!]
[Sleeping Posture Correction: Automatically adjust to the optimal training posture!]
[Snoring Sword Qi: Cultivate invisible sword aura while snoring!]
Zoro's eyes gradually lit up. He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Dream training... that's not bad..."
"Most importantly," Ron revealed a mysterious smile, "this system is perfectly compatible with your tendency to get lost. Sleep when you're lost, and you'll wake up stronger."
Zoro's face instantly flushed red. "Who, who gets lost! That's strategic reconnaissance!"
Luffy was already rolling on the ground laughing. "Hahahaha! Zoro can change his name to Sleepy Swordsman now!"
Just then, a system notification sound suddenly rang out:
[Ding! Host's drowsiness level detected as sufficient]
[Recommended: Activate nap mode immediately]
Zoro's eyelids suddenly grew heavy. He let out a big yawn. "Strange... why am I suddenly so sleepy..."
"The system is reminding you to train," Ron said kindly, pointing to the hammock on the deck. "Go on, the world's greatest swordsman starts with good sleep."
Zoro stumbled towards the hammock, muttering, "I'm not going to sleep... I'm training..." Before he finished speaking, he collapsed onto the hammock, and earth-shattering snores immediately erupted.
Luffy tiptoed over, then suddenly let out a loud "Wow!" The sleeping Zoro reflexively swung his sword, and a sharp sword aura neatly severed the ropes on the mainmast.
"Wow!" Luffy's eyes widened. "He really can get stronger even while sleeping!"
Ron nodded in satisfaction, looking towards Syrup Village, which was now clearly visible in the distance. He thought to himself, 'Usopp, I've already thought of your system...'
Meanwhile, Zoro, in the hammock, was fiercely clashing with the world's greatest swordsman, Dracule Mihawk, in his dream. Every move and every stance was genuinely improving his swordsmanship realm.
However, the improvement was limited; he could only imagine people and moves he had seen, not conjure them out of thin air.
But such combat experience was already rare and valuable. Perhaps, becoming the world's greatest swordsman could really start with sleeping?
