The silence in the car felt suffocating. Kermit gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle ticking beneath his skin. His dark eyes stayed fixed on the road ahead, but rage radiated from every inch of his body.
My stomach twisted into knots. The test results were in his jacket pocket, and his fury told me everything I needed to know. The children weren't his. They couldn't be, not with this level of anger coursing through him.
What would happen to those innocent kids sleeping peacefully back at the house? What would Kermit do once he confirmed what Lucien had told him?
The Pack House came into view, and Kermit immediately barked orders to the first guard he saw. He demanded Lucien and Solace's presence in his office. Now.
