Thane was seated on his bed.
"What's this… there's water coming out of my eyes. I knew this vessel was broken somewhere." He brushed a finger across his cheek, confused by the tears as if they were foreign. The images still lingered in his mind. The memories that weren't his.
"That vision I had just now. it was the life of that boy, Sorin. And this girl in front of me, she's Lana. She was close to him."
He looked up, staring at Lana. "There's water coming out of her eye balls too. Is it natural for humans to do this?"
Lana's sudden presence had triggered Thane to fall into Sorin's memories. Before he could move or think further, Lana rushed forward. "Sorin!" She threw herself into his arms, tears streaming, soaking his clothing. Thane froze. He was unable to move. For the first time since his return… he was completely powerless. Feelings he didn't recognize, emotions that strike fear throughout his body, "Is this a curse", Thane thought while trembling. It was like being trapped in the heart of a winter cold and suddenly a ray of the sun's warmth touched his skin. All that uneasyness, that mix of emotions and feelings was washed away into a warm satisfaction that he disliked but also desired. Thane blinked, and everything went black. "Ah". The world vanished. No sound, no air, only endless darkness. A voice, sharp as steel and smooth as glass, cut through the silence. "How are you doing, Thane?" He froze. Every muscle tensed. A heavy presence wrapped around his body. He could feel it deep into his very bones. He turned around slowly. There she was. A figure standing in the dark, calm, tall, and graceful, her presence alone breaking the silence of the void. She wasn't a god. Not a demon either. But even Thane who had seen power beyond death knew exactly what stood before him. A servant of a being far greater. A being unrivaled in knowledge… and keeper of secrets that even the universe dared not speak.
"Elyria", Thane spoke in a low voice. "You have not forgotten about me haven't you?" Thane remained silent. "l see they work on you too, l had my doubts but this is interesting for someone who was a demon". Thane replied, "What did you do to me, what is this curse that's throwing my insides up and down, and this thing that's beating in my chest, it's difficult to explain". Elyria amused, with Thane's inconvenience and expression, "Welcome to being a human, Thane! This is what it means to be part of this race, to serve as a weapon that's going to vanquish every demon there is on this planet". Thane was alarmed, "How is this being a weapon, when l feel so weak. The demons a more powerful than what this human body is showing me". What do you mean by that", Elyria questioned Thane. "This vessel yearns for piece, a life that's rich with harmony and happiness, how is that being a weapon when it despises violence and combat, l don't understand, a weapon brings great distraction but l feel the opposite". Thane spoke with a worried face. "That is what it means to be human, they are fragile creatures that long for peace, live a non-worrisome life with their loved ones, and they will do everything in their power to keep that", Elyria's expression went cold. "Take what's precious to them, for instance their children, parents, wealth, their country, and you will see what hatred will grow inside them, a force so powerful that allows humans to follow a path of complete distraction to remove the impurities that roam the earth's lands.
"l will teach you how to forge". "Hot cocoa". " I will teach you how to read". "You help me find my spark. "They went South, where demons roam free". " l want to see them, l want to see my mother and father!" "He costs more than this village alone". " At least l did not die in the hands of those bastards".
Thane gasped for air, covering his face with his palm, " Those visions again" he whispered. " You will soon realize that these feelings that you are experiencing now, will push you to reach your limits, Elyria urged Thane, " On your journey you will encounter different humans with different abilities and mindset, learn from them and you will understand the true heights of power". Thane understood what Elyria meant since he also was a powerful being that served as the right hand for the demon king. "So where next", Thane asked Elyria. "South, that's where you will meet different people that are going to be of use to you, and what an uproar the demon kind has managed to accomplish".
Thane's spirit was starting to regain ground. The human feelings such as love, sadness, anger had taken a toll on him. "South ah, l will depart when my weapon is finished by Gorin, l will just do my training while l wait for him". Everything returned to normal, he was back on the bed with Lana mopping because she had seen his long lost friend. "Lana it's at night you need to go to sleep", Thane said while thinking what to actually say. Lana stood up barely holding her tears in. " "SMACK!" Lana slapped Thane. Thane's eyes started to water. "These emotions are so complicated" Thane thought.
Thane was now wondering what to say to Lana. "Why did you leave me, why did you do all that without telling me, thought we were friends why", Lana spoke with a shivering voice. "l am n..", Thane was interrupt before he could finish. " l know you're not Sorin" Thane faced down starring at the floor. " l saw you when you entered the village, at first l did thought it was Sorin", tears trickled on Lana's face. "How did you know. " l followed you at the Forge, the way you spoke with Gorin, to the mountains, Sorin is not the type of person who would waste his time training combat abilities, he would rather forge, that was his passion!", Lana said at a rather loud voice. Thane replied, " You are right, Sorin could have been an amazing blacksmith but where he is right now, he will possibly never come back", Thane said with a sadly expression washing over him. Lana started to cry, tears flooding out of her eyes. She ran bursting out of the room, her cries echoed in Thane's mind, not because he was sad but something deep in his soul cried out, lamenting to avenge Lana's sadness, but it remembered that it was the cause of that sadness so it went away." l feel your pain Sorin, in return to what you gave me l will carry on you will", Thane mumbled determined to take the world and he went to sleep awaiting for the day ahead.
