Prologue 1 - Justine Special 1
"Hello viewers, and welcome to the night section of Star City News. Today is a special day following our beloved Justine Lupe as she takes on a tour of this beautiful city." The voice announced the beginning of this news section. This was a special broadcast of a new program called "Star City and you".
It was a program aimed to bring in more people and tourists into the city and enhance its economy and marketability. And what better way to convince people than through the voice of those who live in the city?
It was a good idea, but it definitely lacked the polish it deserved, an evident problem Justine noticed but was sidelined by her higher-ups. Today was the uncut and unedited recording before it would be released next Saturday.
"Hello, guys. Coming to you live and hot from Star City, the home of innovations, is your favourite reporter, Justine Lupe. From the sky-reaching skyscrapers to the promises of a brighter future to any and everyone, today, we have been tasked to find it all about this city."
"Now, first, let's meet one of our interviewers for today, a citizen of this great city. Hello, and could you tell us your name?" Justine asked, her face displaying her professionalism.
She was standing on an overcrowded street of the city, with the busy cars and vehicles that traversed through the wide roads, the pedestrians, some of whom were crossing while others walked in different directions.
"Jack. Can you hurry up?" The boy who was picked didn't seem to enjoy being there. "Ahaha…sure. It's just the stress of a busy workday; most people in Star City are as kind as they come. Alright, Jack. If I ask you about what makes Star Coty special to you, what would you say?"
"Well, the only interesting thing about Star City, well, despite its grand name, is Axion Corp and Jude Axion, the man who dreams the future. If you ask about something else…." The boy pondered in thoughts for some seconds before answering, "Well, that would be maybe the upcoming artist's Song. I can't think of anything else."
"I…see. Thank you for your frankness. Then, what are your thoughts…." Justine tried to play it cool and ask the other questions that had been presented for this program.
"Bye, beautiful reporter lady, but I gotta go. I'm gonna be late for work." Jack, the individual who was picked for the first episode of this special, was about to bail for and Justine couldn't let that happen.
"Wait." Justine ran and quickly grabbed his hands, her voice strained and tensed, beads of sweat rolling down her youthful face. "You promised to take this interview. You can't go back on your words…"
"I'm sorry, but I have work to be at. NAd to be honest, the only reason I accepted was because you asked, reporter lady. If it's fine with you, we could do this again after I leave work, although with some benefits attached, maybe a date?" Jack commented as he stretched his phone, asking for Justine's number.
'Is he really hitting on me? Fuck! I really can't take this!' Justine raged within her mind. Everything about this special was just a catastrophe. 'Calm…calm, Justine. There's a reward awaiting you if you do this well.'
"I'm sorry, Jack. I would love to, but as you can see, I'm really occupied right now. I've no time for a date." Justine commented as she let go of his hands. "Fine. Good luck with your show. I'll see who'll be willing to make an interview on a weekday morning," Jack spat to the floor, and he walked away in anger.
Justine turned to the camera crew and requested that they stop filming, and after they did, she smacked her clipboard on the ground, her hand running through her hair.
"Fuck! It'll work, he said, but look at all this! I'm the one who's gotta suffer for their decisions!" The members of the news crew looked at her with no shock at her actions. One of the members whispered to his colleague. "It's angry Justine. It's better to let her calm down."
"Who in their right mind will put this on a Monday morning of all time? Well, that would be my boss!" Justine stamped her heels on the grey ground a few more times before calming down and making herself more presentable and professional. Just as she easily went back to her normal self, she quickly and easily put back on her professional mask.
"Let's go look for the second person we can interview." She walked to the rest of the news team and, after hearing her order, they began to pack up while the scouts went in searching for another.
