A week after the team's formation, Leon and Raven soared through the cool air, side by side, both dressed in casual civilian clothes. As the distant silhouette of Mount Justice emerged, Raven glanced over at Leon, her dark hair fluttering in the wind " You think we'll get assigned a mission today?"
Leon shrugged, "Dunno."
Upon landing outside the base, the two entered to find the others already gathered in the spacious kitchen. Conversations intertwined with laughter as the new teammates lounged, enjoying the atmosphere. M'gann—known on Earth as Megan—stood at the counter, offering fresh-baked cookies to the group.
Leon, curiously picking up one, tasted it and blinked in surprise. "Whoa, these are actually amazing, Megan! Did you bake them yourself?"
M'gann beamed, her cheeks glowing. "I did! My first time, actually. I'm so glad you like them."
Raven watched Leon intently for a moment, her gaze lingering a tad longer than usual, before quietly moving to stand close beside him, brushing his shoulder with hers.
Wally, eager and energetic as ever, piped up as the introductions began. "Okay, everyone. Let's do this properly! I'm Kid-Flash, but just call me Wally!"
The tall, calm Aqualad nodded respectfully. "I am Kaldur'ahm. But please, call me Kaldur."
M'gann smiled warmly, her voice cheery. "Everyone here can just call me Megan. t's my earth name now that I'm living among humans."
Conner, standing a bit apart but visibly more at ease than before, spoke up. "My name is Conner."
Robin's eyes widened. "You're using your name now, Conner?"
Kaldur grinned. "It seems the Superman's talk helped him more than we realized."
Conner rolled his eyes, but there was a hint of a smile. "I'm learning. I figure... it's time."
Wally's gaze shifted to Raven and Leon. With a playful smirk, he nudged Robin. "Alright, lovebirds, you're next."
Raven shot him a glare, then, with a flourish, knelt and tied Wally's shoelaces together. "It's Raven," she said, standing. "And that is Leon."
Leon offered a casual wave. "Hey."
As the group grew more comfortable, laughter and banter filled the kitchen—everyone taking tentative steps toward friendship. Suddenly, the voice of the base AI echoed throughout the room: "Attention. Red Tornado has returned."
Robin bounced up, excitement evident. "Mission time, finally!"
The trio—Robin, Wally, and Kaldur—rushed for the entrance, anticipation written on their faces. Before Wally fell face-first causing everyone to Snicker while wally in confusion asks how that happened , Leon exchanges a glance at Raven who seems unperturbed walking ahead leisurely with the curves of her lips turned up, Making Leon shake his head and swear to himself not to mess with her.
Leon, Raven, M'gann, and Conner, however, walked leisurely behind, sharing a quieter moment. While the Trio rush ahead.
In the entry chamber, Red Tornado stood tall, emotionless as always. Robin asked, "Are we finally getting our missions?"
Red Tornado shook his head. "It is not my responsibility to assign missions. That task belongs to Batman."
Kaldur stepped forward, mild frustration showing. "It has been a week. We are not here merely to socialize but to serve and make a difference."
Red Tornado responded in his calm robotic voice. "Team bonding and socialization are necessary for effective teamwork and strong composition."
Robin sighed, Wally frowned, and Kaldur clenched his fist, disappointed.
Leon shrugged nonchalantly. "Isn't peace a good thing? You guys seem obsessed with respect and recognition. It's blinding you. Maybe you're missing the point."
Wally protested. "We've worked years for this! It's not just for respect—we want to be acknowledged!"
Leon interjected, voice quieter but firm. "Really? That's what you're telling us? We didn't choose this life—it was thrust upon us. For us, being here... it's all we've got. Unlike you, some of us don't have lives outside this."
Raven added, "We're not here seeking glory. We're here for a chance, something more, something worth fighting for."
Faced with the honest truth, Robin, Wally, and Kaldur became subdued, their frustration melting into understanding. Wally mumbled, "Sorry. We... didn't think about it that way."
M'gann, spreading positivity, interjected with enthusiasm. "Hello, Megan! You know, since we're all here, why not show everyone the bioship?"
Leon nodded, " If they don't have missions why not just spend this time having fun like the teens we are " before walking ahead, causing everyone to stare at his back before Wally turned to Raven and whispered, " Your boyfriends acts like an old man .." leading Raven to scoff and follow. However even she herself didn't realise she never fixed that misunderstanding between the team about her and Leon and never tried it as well.
Everyone followed M'gann to the large underground hangar. They stared incredulously at the massive red, egg-shaped pod parked in the center. Its surface gleamed under the hangar lights, futuristic and imposing.
Robin tried to be encouraging. "It's… well… aerodynamic?"
Wally nodded, forcing a grin. "Yeah! Definitely aerodynamic."
M'gann giggled, putting a finger to her lips. "She's still asleep. Let me wake her up!"
She approached the vessel and called out in a clear voice, "Bioship, activate!"
With a whir and a ripple of shifting panels, the pod transformed, expanding and reshaping itself until it resembled a sleek blackbird jet, painted a vibrant red. The group gasped, eyes wide with amazement.
Robin grinned. "She's... extraordinary!"
Kid-Flash, unable to keep his thoughts to himself, murmured, "Yeah, she is..." His eyes lingered on M'gann admiringly, then he realized his slip. "I mean—the ship! The ship's amazing!"
M'gann laughed kindly.
Robin snickered, elbowing Wally. "He's quick with his mouth, not so much with his brain though."
Wally groaned, burying his face in his hands as the others erupted with laughter.
With the new jet ready to fly, the team piled in, eager to see what the future held, now united not just by their powers, but by understanding and camaraderie.
