Chapter 25 - A Dwarf with a Spicy Personality. Kallian's POV.

"Have you killed someone secretly and hid the body under your bed and someone discovered it?" Mother said aloud like it's nothing new. Her green eyes glistened in the sunlight, that showed boredom but were still full of life. Her blond straight hairs-silky as ever. She looks just like a princess out of a book-and she is except for the fact that she isn't out of a book. She really does looks as to her standing. The princess. And the duchess.

The title may seem funny, unrealistic, pretty and out of a fantasy book, people may imagine her life is free, lovely and of course, full of romance. But they don't know the reality. People may see father as the knight that stole mother's heart-and it is true except the fact that father isn't a knight. Besides, him being rough, strict and cold he does have a soft spot for her-and it inspires me to do the same for my future wife. Though, I don't plan to get married any time soon.

Father has always been cold towards me, his own heir, not to mention he's cold with almost every man. But he respects women. He treats them well, speaks to them sweetly-but he's not a playboy. And he holds no interest in women except mother. It's just that he's a gentleman. How cool.

I would have loved being one too if it wasn't for my silly personality. How silly of me to think myself silly.

Mother sits on the couch, relaxing, her arms spread on the couch, her legs on the table; crossing each other, while her fingers find themselves tingling on her hairs. She may not be the personality that high society calls lady-like, and father loves her that way. Her goofy side, attitude bigger than the kingdom while having a height smaller than minors. She is small. Small but remember, not cute. People may assume small people are cute but no-she is dangerous. Actually dangerous.

Break her ego and she will break your bones. Try to put a stain on her clothes and she'll put a stain on your whole life-but this one is only for the people she doesn't like from the very start.

She's a dwarf with a spicy personality. I repeat, she's a dwarf with a spicy personality. Personality spicier than your whole life would ever be.

Spicy people are dangerous.

But that doesn't mean either her spicy personality or her big attitude is able to hide her kindness.

She is kind but she doesn't always act that way.

She doesn't care about what people are thinking.

Her eyes light up upon what seems like a realization, she sits up and pulls her legs down the table and hit her palms on the table hard. The sound of the table cracking was pretty loud.

She breathes heavily in excitement and in that moment, she seems to forget wholly that she's a princess. But that's fine because she doesn't have to act like one.

She speaks in excitement, her nostrils opened a bit wider than usual at the moment, "Kallian…! Kallian…! Kallian…"

She wits to continue but I stop her to let her continue repeating my name, "Yes, yes, yes, mother."

"My lovely handsome son, my pupil, my dear Kallian," A pause, and what she says next makes me choke on tea, "Have you already found a girl to marry?"

I choke, her eyes still glistening while expecting an answer, "Of course not!"

And then, the spark in her eyes vanish and comes back to boredom, she continues to put her legs on the table while pressing her back on the couch, "So why in the world are you asking for me to arrange an audience with your father, and the fact that I must be present in the meeting?"

I smirk, "Oh, the reason about that is actually pretty much opposite of what you just thought."

"So, is that so?" She sighs, "I thought you're finally bringing a girl to our home, and I can do various girly things with her." She looks disappointed as she says, "But you're not, so, I take back whatever praise I gave you just now."

"You don't have to, mother." My smirk becomes wider, while I shut my eyes, "Because you're not wrong about that part."

The spark in her eyes lit up again, "But then, how are you going to bring a girl to our home without marrying her?"

"As I said, it's pretty much the opposite, I am actually bringing a girl as my sister, and I am asking you to arrange a meeting with my father so that I can ask him to adopt her." With every word she lit up more and more, in a blink, I found her hugging me tightly.

Her hands are pressing against my back tightly. She takes a deep breath, and then-

A dagger is pressing against my neck. I scan the scene. My mother is smirking, her fingers curling the dagger, seeing her dagger is pretty rare.

She loves her dagger. You will never see it with her on a normal occasion but when things get complicated and she has the tiny bit of doubt or she feels danger, she doesn't take a moment before taking actions, she does before thinking, and then regret it later. Total opposite of Elicia at this.

Her green eyes that were not-so-long ago were full of boredom are now drowning in amusement. Oh god, this side of her actually makes me doubt that she doesn't have bodies under her bed. If father hadn't married her, she would have been a total disaster and I doubt the fact that she hadn't inherited the throne. She would have. Only if father wasn't there to become her weakness. Well, it is much better with her being happy with father because I found this thought rather horrifying about father without her. Well, she would surely have been a disaster, and it's not a doubtful statement but rather a fact. After all, she's a pretty face with the mind of a killer.

Not to mention, she punishes the criminals that are inside our jail. Father has long ago given her that job, and the king has allowed it too. "Tell me, where's my son?" She asks, sweetness clotting her voice. Just clotting. Because her words are totally not sweet.

"I am here. Under your dagger." I said, trying my best to not move my neck even a little bit. Nor to make a suspicious move because I know I am better off dead if I make one.

A laugh escapes her mouth, that laugh is sweet enough to make man fall head over heels for her and make the mistake of taking her as an elegant and mature princess. A small tear escapes her left eye while laughing, she wipes it with her other unoccupied hand. "Do you really take me as dumb to believe it? My son can never do a thing to make us happy. Never means never."

And with that, I am not sure if I should take it as a compliment or not, though, I really didn't know it would make them happy, I rather thought it would be bothersome.

I smile, "You have just proved yourself wrong cause I have totally made you happy now."

With that, she retreats and sits back on the table. "Well, I guess, cause that way of talking is mine and can only be used by son or his father-"

Someone knocks on the door, but the gate opens only after mother allows the person to open it.

A servant boy appears; he would be no older than Elicia. Poor thing, must be living in hard circumstances.

"His Grace wants to meet you, young master."

Mother passes me a nod and then we strand towards father's study together to beg him to adopt Elicia.
