# Chapter 116: Clear Wing Synchro Dragon
Speedroid Taketomborg transformed into four star rings, enveloping the other Speedroid monster beside Yugo. A shining path of light extended forward, following his D-Wheel.

"Unfurl your beautiful and majestic wings, and vanquish the enemy at light speed! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 7! Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
A clear dragon's roar echoed as the black-and-white dragon was born amidst a gale. The wind swirling around it transformed into layer after layer of glassy armor, attaching itself to the dragon.
The fully armored dragon spread its wings and soared beside Yugo's D-Wheel, letting out roars toward Yūga Hōzumi.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon ATK: 2500
"I set two cards and end my turn," Yugo said.
Yūga Hōzumi looked up at the majestic dragon before him and smiled inexplicably. "Of all the four dragons, yours still looks the coolest."
"Huh? Really? You think Clear Wing is cool too?" Yugo asked with a grin.
Distracted for that one moment, Yugo failed to steer his D-Wheel around a small pothole in time. The violent jolt sent him scrambling, while Yuzu, on the back seat, shrieked repeatedly.
"Be more serious!" Yuzu said, exasperated. If Yugo wasn't driving, she probably would have beaten him silly with her paper fan by now.
"My turn! Draw!" Yūga Hōzumi drew a card.
"I activate the Spell Card, Dododo Draw! I send one 'Dododo' monster from my hand to the Graveyard to draw one card!"
"I activate the Spell Card, Zexal Construction! I reveal one card in my hand to add a 'Zexal Servant' monster from my Deck to my hand, then I return the revealed card to the Deck."
"I reveal the Trap Card, 'Masterpiece Puzzle,' to add 'Zexal Servant - Ascension Sage' from my Deck to my hand! Then the revealed card returns to the Deck!"
"If I control no cards, I can Special Summon Zexal Servant - Ascension Sage!"
"I activate the effect of Astral Kuriboh in my hand!"
"I reveal one 'Number' Xyz Monster in my Extra Deck to Special Summon this card from my hand. Its Level then becomes equal to the revealed monster's Rank."
"I reveal the Rank 4 Number 39: Utopia from my Extra Deck! Appear! Astral Kuriboh!"

"I overlay my two Level 4 monsters!"
"Warrior of hope! Clad in light, descend now! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Number 39: Utopia!"
Yūga Hōzumi extended his right hand, and a red "39" slowly materialized. A swirling golden vortex formed in the air, and his two monsters transformed into golden orbs of light, surging into it one after the other.
A moment later, Utopia, bathed in shimmering golden light, descended from the vortex. It drew the moon-crescent blades from its waist and confronted the dragon beside Yugo, its aura not the least bit inferior.
Number 39: Utopia ATK: 2500
"Is that your ace monster? Looks pretty good," Yugo remarked.
"Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not done yet! If a 'Utopia' monster is Xyz Summoned using 'Zexal Servant - Ascension Sage' as material, I can add one 'Rank-Up-Magic' Normal Spell Card from my Deck to my hand," Yūga Hōzumi said calmly. "I add Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force to my hand!"
"Rank-Up-Magic?" Yugo asked, confused.
"Be careful. That's a unique dueling style exclusive to duelists from the XYZ Dimension," Yuzu warned from the back seat.
"I activate the effect of my Continuous Spell, Xyz Change Tactics! When a 'Utopia' Xyz Monster is summoned to my field, I can pay 500 Life Points to draw one card."
Yūga Hōzumi LP: 4000 → 3500
"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force!"
"I target an Xyz Monster I control to Special Summon a 'Utopia' or 'Zexal Weapon' monster from my Extra Deck that is one Rank higher, using the target as Xyz Material! Then, I place one 'Zexal Weapon' or 'Zexal Servant' monster from my Deck on top of it."
A dazzling light shone from the card in Yūga Hōzumi's hand, enveloping Utopia as a golden vortex formed beneath its feet.
"Armor of hope, linked by the chains of bonds! Descend in the name of the Beast King! Rank-Up Xyz Change! Rank 5! Beast-Armor Combination - Leo Utopia Ray!"
With a deafening roar, a golden-red iron lion leaped from the vortex beneath Utopia. It then disassembled behind Utopia, transforming into pieces of armor that fused onto its body.

"Then, due to the effect of Rank-Up-Magic Zexal Force, I place 'Zexal Weapon - Tornado Bringer' from my Deck on top of it!"
"I activate the effect of my Continuous Spell, Xyz Change Tactics! When a 'Utopia' monster is successfully Xyz Summoned, I pay 500 Life Points and draw a card!"
Yūga Hōzumi LP: 3500 → 3000
"I activate the effect of 'Zexal Weapon - Tornado Bringer' from my hand! I target my 'Utopia' monster and equip this card to it, increasing its attack by 1300."
A stream of red light flew from Yūga Hōzumi's hand, transforming into a dragon-patterned longsword that appeared beside Leo Utopia Ray.

"I activate the effect of Beast-Armor Combination - Leo Utopia Ray! Once per turn, I can detach one of its Xyz Materials to equip one 'Zexal Weapon' monster from my Deck or Extra Deck to it."
"I equip 'Zexal Weapon - Pegasus Twin Saber' from my Deck to Leo Utopia Ray, increasing its ATK by another 1000!"
Beast-Armor Combination - Leo Utopia Ray ATK: 3800 → 4800
"I activate the effect of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon! When a Level 5 or higher monster..." Yugo raised his hand, intending to use Clear Wing's effect to negate the activation, but the dragon, which had always obeyed his commands, remained motionless.
"Huh? Why isn't it working?" Yugo's face was a mask of confusion.
"Idiot, Xyz Monsters have Ranks, not Levels," Yuzu explained from the back seat, having fought against Xyz users before.
"Why didn't you say something so important sooner!" Yugo complained.
"How was I supposed to know you two would suddenly start dueling?! Watch out ahead!" Yuzu shrieked.
"Still full of energy, I see. So, think you can block this next attack?" Yūga Hōzumi chuckled as he watched Yugo frantically swerve around a protruding rock in the road. "Battle! Beast-Armor Combination - Leo Utopia Ray, attack Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
At Yūga Hōzumi's command, Leo Utopia Ray flapped its wings and charged with its blade toward Clear Wing in mid-air. Not to be outdone, Clear Wing extended wind blades from its claws and met the charge.
