Chapter 103 - # Chapter 104: Yūga Hōzumi VS Bruno

# Chapter 104: Yūga Hōzumi VS Bruno

"Is this guy nuts? It's just an Accel Synchro. Is all this really necessary?" Yūga Hōzumi was bewildered by Bruno's hostile gaze, feeling there must be something he didn't know.

But no matter what, in Bruno's current state, he wouldn't listen to anything. Any questions would have to wait until after the duel.

"My turn! I draw!" Yūga Hōzumi drew a card.

"I activate the Continuous Spell, Onomat Choice! When this card is activated, I can add one 'Onomat' card from my Deck to my hand, except 'Onomat Choice'."

"I add the Spell Card Onomatopaira to my hand."

"I activate the Spell Card, Onomatopaira! I discard one card, then add up to two monsters with different names from among 'Gagaga,' 'Zubababa,' 'Dododo,' and 'Gogogo' monsters from my Deck to my hand."

"I add Onomatopia and Gagaga Sister to my hand."

"I summon Gagaga Sister in Attack Position!"

"When Gagaga Sister is summoned, I can add one 'Gagaga' Spell or Trap Card from my Deck to my hand."

"I add the Spell Card, Gagaga Thunder, to my hand!"

"I activate the Spell Card, Gagaga Thunder! If I control a 'Gagaga' monster, I can target one card on the field and destroy it."

Yūga Hōzumi naturally wouldn't target T.G. Blade Blaster, which was resistant to Spells. The lightning summoned by Gagaga Sister accurately struck the set card in Bruno's backrow.

"I activate the Trap Card, TGX3-DX2!" Before his set card could be destroyed, Bruno hastily flipped it open.

"I select three 'T.G.' monsters in my Graveyard, shuffle them into the Deck, and then draw two cards."

"I return T.G. Warwolf, T.G. Jet Falcon, and T.G. Catapult Dragon from my Graveyard to my Deck, then draw two cards!"

"Not a defensive trap, but a way to replenish his hand?" Yūga Hōzumi said, then revealed another card from his hand. "I activate the effect of Zubababancho - Gagagacoat from my hand!"

"If I control a 'Zubababa' or 'Gagaga' monster other than this card, I can Special Summon this card."

"I activate the effect of Zubababancho - Gagagacoat! I target one 'Gogogo' or 'Dododo' monster in my Graveyard and Special Summon it."

"I Special Summon Dododo Buster, which was discarded to the Graveyard as the cost to activate Onomatopaira!"

"I activate Gagaga Sister's other effect! I target one other 'Gagaga' monster on my field; that monster and this card's Levels become their combined total until the end of the turn."

"I change the Levels of Gagaga Sister and Zubababancho - Gagagacoat to their combined total of 6!"

Gagaga Sister LV: 2 → 6

Zubababancho - Gagagacoat LV: 4 → 6

"I overlay the Level 6 Gagaga Sister and Dododo Buster!"

"Sacred radiance illuminates the earth! Descend from the dazzling starlight! Xyz Summon! Rank 6, Constellar Ptolemy M7!"

From the magnificent stardust vortex, a mechanical dragon shimmering with vibrant light emerged, flapping its wings.

Constellar Ptolemy M7 ATK: 2700

"Xyz Summon?" Bruno frowned, looking at the mechanical dragon on Yūga Hōzumi's field. "The same summoning method as The Lone Falcon?"

"You've seen him?" Yūga Hōzumi couldn't help but ask. "Can you tell me where he is? He's one of our companions, and we're looking for him."

"We're looking for him too!" Bruno gritted his teeth. "That guy injured our Revolutionary Army comrades in the Underground Turbo Duel Arena and then vanished. Since you're his companions, I have even more reason not to let you go!"

Yūga Hōzumi: ...

Can't that damn Shun Kurosaki ever give me a break?

"I think there might be a misunderstanding. As for him injuring your comrades, I can apologize on his behalf and offer compensation," Yūga Hōzumi said patiently. He had no choice; as the leader, he had to bite the bullet and take responsibility for the trouble Shun Kurosaki caused. "Besides, aren't you with the Revolutionary Army? We came here to help you."

"Do you think I'll believe your nonsense?" Bruno roared. "You're only saying that so you can pry into the secrets of Accel Synchro, aren't you! I won't let you succeed!"

"It seems you won't listen to me until I beat you." Yūga Hōzumi was also losing his patience. "I activate the effect of Constellar Ptolemy M7!"

"Once per turn, I can detach one Xyz Material from this card to target one monster on either player's field or in their Graveyard and return it to the owner's hand."

One of the golden orbs circling the mechanical dragon shot between its wings as a stream of light. Its outstretched wings released a sacred light towards T.G. Blade Blaster.

"I activate the effect of the Tuner monster, Effect Veiler, from my hand! During my opponent's Main Phase, I can send this card from my hand to the Graveyard to target one Effect Monster my opponent controls; that monster's effects are negated until the end of this turn." Just as T.G. Blade Blaster was about to be sent away, Bruno sent a card from his hand to the Graveyard. A green-haired angel appeared out of thin air, nullifying the light from M7's wings.

"Damn, these Synchro Dimension folks really have some good stuff!" Yūga Hōzumi exclaimed internally.

Tuner monsters weren't just for Synchro Summoning. When discussing the evolution of Duel Monsters, the existence of disruptive hand traps was a major part of it.

Interrupting an opponent's plays is a crucial part of any duel.

Compared to Trap Cards and Quick-Play Spells that need to be set a turn in advance, hand traps that can be used directly from the hand during the opponent's turn are much more flexible.

Furthermore, in the dueling environment of Yūga Hōzumi's previous life, these disruptive hand traps were a crucial way for the player going second to counter the player going first.

After arriving in this world, Yūga Hōzumi had considered creating them himself, especially with a card creator like Sugihara Yo right beside him. However, due to a lack of understanding, Sugihara Yo had yet to figure out how Tuner monsters were made.

Since most of these powerful hand traps were Tuner monsters, the idea was eventually dropped.

Now, seeing Bruno use Effect Veiler, Yūga Hōzumi's eyes gleamed with a different light. If Effect Veiler existed here, could the most infamous monster in history—Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring—be far behind?

But Bruno clearly misunderstood, attributing Yūga Hōzumi's expression to greed for the secrets of Accel Synchro. He became instantly furious. "And you still claim you're not trying to pry into Accel Synchro?"

...

I've posted the guaranteed two chapters. The initial subscription count was 970, so let's round that to 1000. That means I owe five chapters for that, plus one from yesterday, for a total of six owed chapters.

Also, a note: characters from previous Yu-Gi-Oh! series, other than the protagonists and main villains, might appear as alternate-dimension counterparts.

Aside from the newly introduced Bruno, I have plans for Kaiser and Kiryu to appear.
