In the following two days, Rhode and Mira went to view two more houses.
One was near the cathedral, perfect in every way, except it was in the city center and ridiculously expensive. The other was near the dormitory hill, which was a bit remote.
The two hesitated and decided to keep looking.
During these two days, Lucy experienced the ease of hanging around the guild without worrying about rent.
This kind of lifestyle was so indulgent that Lucy felt... it was absolutely wonderful!
No wonder there were always so many relaxed people in the tavern; it turns out everyone works for three to five days and then rests for one or two weeks.
Wendy and Carla spent these two days wandering around the city, buying some daily necessities, and Rhode and Mira thoughtfully made a shopping and playing map for them.
The two were always responsible for the guild's procurement matters, and in this aspect, they were absolutely reliable. They often dated in various places, so they knew where was fun and where had beautiful scenery.
Now Wendy was sitting obediently at the counter, unfolding a map of Magnolia. It had a lot of red circles representing the places they visited and many lines representing the streets they walked.
Carla stood on the counter, refused Hapi's date invitation, and said she wanted to accompany Wendy, then continued to study the map.
Hapi was downcast and had to go to Warm for some fish to comfort his wounded heart.
Rhode suspected he was just looking for free food and drinks.
"How is it? Are you getting used to living in the dormitory?" Mira asked with concern.
"Yeah, the dormitory is great, and everyone takes good care of me." Wendy was very satisfied with her current accommodation, and she had gotten to know many people in the dormitory.
Besides Erza, Reby, and Jubia, she also met Bisca, Ibarglin, and Laki, among others.
It was just that some people's dormitories were decorated rather frighteningly, making Wendy hesitant to visit.
"What about in the guild? Has anyone strange been bothering you?" Mira implied that if there was, she would deal with them properly.
"No... there are many strange people, but no one bothers me."
Of course, there was the occasional danger of getting accidentally hurt, but as long as she was careful, Wendy didn't see it as a disadvantage. Instead, she quite enjoyed the lively atmosphere.
Only Carla insisted, "I don't like this noisy guild. It feels like my ears will hurt after a while."
Rhode asked, "Want to try some Poro Delicacies?"
Carla looked at him blankly, "Do you think I'm a child?"
Rhode said, "It's a new flavor that came out yesterday, grilled fish flavor, and it's being offered for free tasting. Mr. Cook would be happy to get some honest feedback."
"..." Carla reluctantly picked up a piece, "Let's say I'm doing a favor."
The adorable white cat held the Poro Delicacy for tasting—a piece half the size of her face—and the three onlookers burst into laughter.
After chatting for a while, Rhode introduced a few people from the guild, and Wendy carefully noted everyone's names and Rhode's summaries of their personalities, thinking about how to get along with everyone.
"Ah, you're back?" Kana swaggered over to the counter, carrying a bottle of wine.
She had taken on a job before Rhode and the others returned, working two days as a temporary security guard for a bar.
Rhode said, "We should be asking you that—are you finally back?"
She was supposedly back two days ago.
Kana laughed, "The boss was too enthusiastic, insisted on treating me."
Rhode glanced at the wine bottle in Kana's hand; it seemed like an incredibly expensive wine: "You aren't spending money the moment you earn it again, are you?"
"How is that possible?" Kana gulped the last bit of wine down, "Ha... I only spent 90% of it."
"Sigh..." Rhode flipped through a stack of job listings and pulled one out. "Here you go."
"For what?"
"A job to catch two highway robbers; the pay is good and it won't take long." Rhode said matter-of-factly, "Anyway, you'll be out of money again soon."
"..." Kana was wordless, pounding the table in dissatisfaction, "Income and savings are private matters—you better watch it and not keep such tight track!"
"That's simple; just don't take jobs from me, don't spend in the guild, and don't spend all your savings every time, then I won't be able to track it."
"Fine, I won't! I'll ask Mira for jobs!" Kana said, sounding like she was covering her ears to avoid the truth.
Mira just laughed by the side without seeing Kana actually move.
She took out a few remaining bills and slapped them on the table: "Either way, I have money today, so I'll drink today; as for tomorrow, that's something to worry about tomorrow!"
"Another odd one," Carla said, covering her nose and hiding in Wendy's embrace—the smell of alcohol from Kana was too strong.
Wendy held her and reminded, "Saying that is impolite, Carla."
"It's okay. At this level, it's not considered impolite in this guild." Rhode introduced unabashedly, "This is our guild's famous drunkard, Kana. Remember to keep a distance from her to avoid getting hurt by her drunken antics."
"My drinking behavior isn't that bad!" Kana didn't deny being a drunkard but didn't accept Rhode's claim of her getting wild when drunk, "By the way, who are you? A kid, and a female Hapi?"
Wendy looked at herself, then at the broad chest exposed by Kana's open coat, lacking the courage to refute being called a kid.
Carla protested, "Don't compare me to a tomcat!"
"This is Wendy and Carla; they just joined our guild. You should have met them last year." Rhode couldn't remember if Kana was sober or drunk then, but they should have met.
Kana didn't remember at all, "So that's it. Hello, would you like me to buy you a drink? I can still afford that much."
"Kana," Mira reminded, "Wendy is only 12 years old."
Kana thought for a moment and said, "12 might be a bit too young, but it's okay. She can drink next year."
Wendy was puzzled, "Eh? I can drink next year?"
"Don't listen to her nonsense," Mira warned Wendy first, then said to Kana, "You started drinking at 13, right?"
"So what? It's not like there's a law to punish me."
"Don't lead Wendy astray."
Kana looked at her strangely, "Mira, you're talking like Lucy today."
"Does it really seem that way?" Mira asked happily, then pretended to be melancholic, "Because Rhode has been close to Lucy these past few days, I'm wondering if he likes girls like that, sigh..."
Rhode chuckled at her cute expression—he liked actresses, not complainers.
Kana nudged Rhode with her elbow, like watching a good show: "Two-timing, not bad, especially with one being Mira."
Rhode shook his head gently, looking at Kana with a smile, "You don't understand."
"Tsk, that look of yours is annoying," Kana replied.
