Chapter 221 - Chapter 220: Insufficient Magic Power?

Liss's room is beautifully decorated.

The entire room is predominantly pink, with wallpaper featuring cute little animals on the walls and star and moon-shaped decorations hanging from the ceiling.

A small bed is placed against the wall, covered with pink sheets and a quilt, and there's a curtain with white tassels hanging in front of the window.

On the bed, there are four or five stuffed toys in the shapes of bears, rabbits, and puppies.

It's clear that Mr. Yopa and Mrs. Ivy dote on their daughter.

Unfortunately, the owner of this room now just sits there dazedly at the edge of the bed, motionless like a delicate doll.

After obtaining Mr. Yopa's permission, Wendy stepped forward to try and greet Liss.

Rhode quietly followed her from the side, and Erza also kept a close eye on Liss's movements throughout.

"Hello, are you Miss Liss?"

Liss had no response at all.

"My name is Wendy. Would you like to be friends with me?" Wendy smiled and extended her hand to her.

With Wendy's cute smile and pleasant voice, it's hard for an ordinary little girl to refuse to communicate with her.

Unfortunately, Liss still had no reaction, not even willing to glance at her.

"Can you hear me talking?" Wendy asked again, waving her small hand in front of Liss's eyes.

But this time, Liss closed her eyes, and her body softened and slumped down.

"Miss Liss!" Wendy quickly supported her.

"Liss!" Mrs. Ivy also nervously supported Liss.

The two of them slowly laid Liss's body flat, and Mrs. Ivy said with distress, "This is how Liss has lately been suddenly fainting more and more frequently."

Rhode had never seen such symptoms before, and the only thing he could think of now was to try using the Crown of Embers on Liss.

Erza was equally at a loss. She did have a nurse's uniform, but when it came to healing, the most she could do was help take a temperature.

Now they could only rely on Wendy.

Yopa nervously asked, "Do any of you have any ideas?"

Wendy thought for a moment and uncertainly said, "Liss's dazed state might be due to psychological or mental trauma;

The increasing frequency of fainting seems like a poisonous reaction; the possibility of a curse cannot be ruled out either..."

"Do you... have any solutions?" The couple looked at her with hopeful eyes.

Wendy felt a little pressured: "I would like to first try using a magic to remove abnormal states, then detoxification magic and ordinary healing magic, but..."

"Magic power might not hold up, right?" Rhode remembered the last time Wendy used a healing magic and ended up collapsing with him in a corner of the wall.

Wendy's eyes welled up with tears: "I'm sorry, in a short time, I can only use one type of magic."

Erza looked at Rhode and smiled, "If it's a lack of magic power, it's nothing to worry about."

"Yes, leave the magic power to me," Rhode said, patting Wendy on the head, "When do you want to start?"

Wendy didn't understand, but she had no doubts: "Anytime is okay."

"Let's do it now," Rhode said, glancing at the room's space. Summoning a golem would pierce through the ceiling, so he would have to use Receiving.

At this height, even Receiving required crouching down a bit.

"Mr. Yopa, Mrs. Ivy, could you step back a bit?"

"Yes!" Yopa pulled the reluctant Ivy back to the doorway.

Erza stood beside Wendy, giving Rhode space.

"Receiving: Cyan Engraved Golem!"

Rhode crouched down to activate the Receiving Magic. It was the first time he had to receive a golem in such a posture.

Suddenly, a statue-like giant appeared in the room, with a blue glowing 'bulb' on its chest attracting attention.

Even while crouching, its over three-meter height allowed its head to touch the decorations hanging from the ceiling, and Rhode had to control himself not to move around.

"Mr. Rhode?"

There was no need to mention how surprised Yopa and Ivy were, even Wendy was seeing Rhode in this form for the first time.

Rhode didn't waste any words. Once transformed, he applied a buff to himself and Wendy: "Crown of Insight."

Three streaks of blue light floated around Wendy. Rhode said to Wendy, "Let's begin."

"Alright!" Wendy obediently cast a magic on Liss, "Enhanced resistance to abnormal states, Lirejie!"

A blue magic array appeared beneath Liss's body, forming a semi-transparent blue shield around her.

A blue light continuously emitted from the palm of Wendy's hand: "Abnormal state dispel, Dispel!"

The blue light persisted for several seconds, and Wendy was about to collapse, with Erza holding her in her arms.

Rhode thought it would be better to let Wendy fall. At least the floor was wood.

Healing Magic consumed a significant amount of magic power, and Wendy was facing the same issue that Rhode had previously faced: insufficient total magic power. Even with the aid of the Crown of Insight, she couldn't sustain such magic for long.

After quietly waiting for a few minutes, the duration of the Crown of Insight ran out, and Wendy gathered enough magic power for the next spell.

Rhode renewed her Crown of Insight.

"Here we go again," Wendy stretched out her hand, green light emitting from her palm. "Toxin Purge, Detox!"

The same process, Wendy rested for a while before using ordinary Healing Magic again.

Seeing them create such a spectacle, Mr. Yopa and Mrs. Ivy felt a glimmer of hope.

After Wendy fell into Erza's arms a third time, Rhode granted her another Crown of Insight before reverting to his human form.

Mrs. Ivy was eager to check on Liss, but Mr. Yopa, being slightly calmer, first inquired about Wendy's condition before asking about Liss.

Wendy said a bit reluctantly, "We can't confirm the effect right now. Let Miss Liss sleep a bit first, and we'll come back to see her tomorrow."

"Yes, yes, why don't you all stay at my home? We have enough guest rooms."

"No need, we've already booked a hotel, and our companions are waiting for us,"

Erza felt Wendi might have something she couldn't say, so she declined Mr. Yopa's offer, but added, "If there's anything, feel free to come find us."

...

The three left the client's home, the sun had already set, and lights were starting to illuminate the streets.

They hadn't walked far when Hapi and Carla came over.

Carla asked, "How was it? What illness does that child have?"

"I don't know," Wendy shook her head. "Healing Magic is of no use to her."

Erza asked, "What about the first two spells?"

"They didn't work either. It didn't seem like the curse was lifted or toxins were extracted," Wendy said with a pout, covering her face with both hands. "I'm sorry, I'm just too useless, boo hoo hoo..."

Carla quickly said, "It's not Wendy's fault. Healing Magic isn't omnipotent."

Though she didn't understand what was going on, she was sure it wasn't Wendy's fault.

"Carla is right. Maybe Liss's illness has another cause," Rhode said. "We should investigate further."

Carla recalled what Erza had said and then asked with concern:

"What did you mean when you said 'the first two spells'? How many times did Wendy use magic? Why did she push herself so hard?"
