The new monsters are three rather ugly purple worms that have taken the place of the Dragon Pit.
Rhode originally thought that the position should have been occupied by the Canyon Vanguard, but today he finally confirmed that it was an unfamiliar monster.
He suspected that the game might have secretly updated the version while he was away.
However, just by looking at their color, he could tell that these creatures might have something to do with the 'Void'.
Rhode only hoped that they, like other monsters, wouldn't involve too many mysterious background settings.
So far, all the monsters have obeyed Rhode's commands and never caused any trouble, so this time there shouldn't be any problem either.
However, out of caution, Rhode decided to conduct the first summoning outside in the woods.
In the woods outside Magnolia, Makarov took Rhode to a relatively spacious location.
"You've been this cautious for so long," Makarov looked at the cage in Rhode's hand, "what does that mean?"
Rhode said, "I originally wanted to use white mice, but since there weren't any, I'll substitute them with a little white rabbit. I need them to help me test whether it's dangerous or not in a while."
"You're really... never mind, let's start."
"Alright... why don't you prepare a Defense Magic first?" Rhode still wanted to prepare as if the monsters might go out of control.
Makarov raised his hand, a golden sphere the size of a fist appeared from his index finger, followed by two golden Magic Arrays standing in front of the two like shields: "Like this?"
"Make it stronger, like a Fairy's Ball or something."
Makarov exclaimed in surprise, "How do you know about Fairy's Ball?"
"I stumbled upon it in the library. It feels like those books with very old covers are treasures," Rhode said, "But is it really okay to have such books related to Super Magic just lying around in the library for anyone to read?"
"Knowledge is passed down through books for people to learn from. If we hide it, the efforts of our predecessors will be wasted."
Makarov smiled, "As long as you can do it, you can learn all the magic in the library. So... have you learned the Fairy's Ball?"
"No, it's too complicated. Just reading a few pages makes my head spin," Rhode said, feeling a bit unhappy as it looked even more difficult than advanced math.
The strongest defensive type of Super Magic, seeing and not being able to learn it is really frustrating.
"True, half a year ago your magic foundation was zero, learning Fairy's Ball right away is impossible," Makarov thought it made sense that he couldn't learn it.
Unless they use the method of 'instilling' another time like they did with the Ancient Documents, otherwise, no matter how diligent he is, reaching the necessary level of knowledge would take one to two years.
Rhode said helplessly, "So it's up to you, simply using a Fairy's Ball to ensure our safety is good."
Makarov said unimpressed, "You know that's Super Magic, even for me, I can't casually use it!"
However, unable to resist Rhode's persuasion, Makarov still showed off for him: "Maximum Defense Magic Array: Triskele!"
A golden Magic Array spread out under the President's feet, and three towering stone pillars rose from the ground, standing at the edge of the Magic Array.
"Wow, wow! This is impressive!" Rhode finally felt satisfied, walked to the edge of the Magic Array, held the pendant, and recited the initial version of the Chanting Words used when he wasn't sure of the Summoned Beast's name.
Three purple monsters appeared outside the Defense Magic Array, each one taller than a person, with a single horn on their heads, full of fangs in their mouths, eyes half open, and with purple-red eggs on their backs.
Upon looking closely, there seemed to be little shadows in those eggs.
In Rhode's fair judgment, these worms were a bit ugly and somewhat frightening.
The ugliest among the previous monsters were the Magic Swamp Frogs, but they obviously weren't on the same path as these.
Makarov rarely understood Rhode's feelings.
No wonder Rhode went to great lengths to persuade him to prepare a Defense Magic Array; these Summoned Beasts this time seemed to exude an evil aura.
"Retreat, stop, shake your head, open your mouth, close your mouth..."
Rhode tested some simple commands, and there was no difference from before.
Then he opened the cage and released a little white rabbit: "Catch it, but don't bite it to death."
The little white rabbit, having never seen such terrifying monsters before, landed on the ground and ran for its life.
The three worms tried hard to chase for a few steps, then the purple-red eggs on their backs suddenly burst open.
Twelve basketball-sized blue larvae jumped out of the eggs, and when they stood upright, they were taller than a person's knees.
They swarmed the rabbit, some biting its ears, others its legs, and those that couldn't fit were turning around wildly on the side.
When they looked back at the three mother worms, the shattered eggs on their backs gradually recovered, taking about ten seconds to return to their original state.
The mother worms let out a soft hiss, and the larvae jostled each other to bring the rabbit back, while the larvae that didn't manage to bite the rabbit were still scurrying around, as if wanting to squeeze past their companions.
It seems like the mother worms, like other monsters, have a certain degree of autonomous action ability and can follow normal commands, but the larvae have limited intelligence.
Rhode squatted at the edge of the Magic Array and watched for a while, making sure the poor little rabbit showed no signs of infection or mutation before approaching the mother worm closely.
"They're called Void Nest Insects, their attack power is quite ordinary, defense capability is unremarkable, speed is average, and Magic Power consumption... feels about the same as red and blue,"
Rhode described the basic information he had just obtained about the Void Nest Insects to the President.
Makarov asked, "Just an ordinary Summoned Beast? And the little worms?"
"The little worms are called Void Worms, according to the Void Nest Insects, they seem to be able to continuously produce these Void Worms, with each Void Nest Insect producing four Void Worms every 12 seconds."
"Each one every 12 seconds produces four, three of them produce 12 every 12 seconds, 60 in a minute, if continued nonstop for twenty-four hours, they can produce... over 80,000?"
Makarov was shocked by this number; over 80,000 worms taller than Hapi could cover the entire forest?
This, in an ideal state, means one person equals an army?
Although these worms individually don't seem strong in combat, the sheer number is frightening enough, even 80,000 rabbits would take some effort to manage, let alone ones that can bite.
"They seem to have some special skills too..." Rhode pointed at the stone pillars created by the President, "deal with them."
The eggs on the backs of the Void Nest Insects burst open again, and 12 Void Worms were produced. Twenty-four worms hopped towards the stone pillars, biting and gnawing randomly.
For a while, only the rustling sound of chewing was heard.
The three Void Nest Insects did not directly attack but stood two meters away, spitting fist-sized dark purple Magic Bullets.
Every Magic Bullet that hit the stone pillars corroded a hole in them.
After 12 seconds, the eggs on the backs of the Nest Insects burst open again, and another 12 worms climbed onto the stone pillars, crunching and gnawing away.
Makarov watched in amazement as his Triskele Magic was chewed to pieces, finally collapsing into rubble... something's off!
Defense Magic can be broken, but not like this!
Makarov asked, "You said their specialty is... skilled in breaking Defense Magic and even able to gnaw at Magic Arrays?"
Rhode awkwardly said, "It's adept at dismantling structures, especially certain special buildings."
"..." Makarov pondered for a moment, then resolutely said, "Absolutely not allowed to summon them in the Guild!"
